Dozen House women defend Rice over Libya comments
Associated Press ^ | November 16, 2012

A dozen female members of the House staunchly defended U.N. ambassador Susan Rice against Republican criticism over her remarks on the deadly Sept. 11 Libya attack, suggesting the GOP lawmakers' comments were racist and sexist.

"It is a shame that anytime something goes wrong, they pick on women and minorities," Rep. Marcia Fudge, D-Ohio, the next chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus, told reporters Friday at a Capitol Hill news conference.

Republican Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham earlier this week called Rice untrustworthy and unqualified to be the nation's top diplomat if President Barack Obama chooses her to succeed Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. The two vowed to block any Senate confirmation if she is nominated.

The House women, a majority of them Africa-American, lashed out at McCain and Graham and demanded that they retract their criticism.

"To batter this woman because they don't feel they have the ability to batter President Obama is something we the women are not going to stand by and watch," said Rep. Gwen Moore, D-Wis. "Their feckless and reckless speculation is unworthy of their offices as senators."

Said Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton, D-D.C.: "We will not allow a brilliant public servant's record to be mugged to cut off her consideration to be secretary of state."

this isn’t from “The Onion?”

bless their hearts, these elected wimmen know Susan Rice is a brilliant person, just bein’ victimized because of her lady parts. That bad man John McCain made her run sobbing to the ladies room. When she becomes Sec of State I bet Putin and the Iranians will treat her much more gentleman like.

Ah, playing the sex AND race cards.

For once I hope Lindsey Graham and John McCain show they have some testicles.

If women can’t play with the big boys, they obviously need to get back to basics........go home.

No Ms Fudge, if that's your real name. It's a shame that 4 American's including a US Ambasador were killed by islamic terrorists and this administration lied about it during the campaign, and now you play the race/womyn card to distract attention from the lie. Fudge You.

No listing of who these "dozen female members of the House" were aside from the 3 quoted, but the entire article from the (unbiased) AP has no mention of any GOP member being included.

Do I need to presume that this was an expected partisan effort? Do I need to presume that the sun rises in the east. Do I need to presume that there was a reason that the (unbiased) AP would not state the affiliations or identities of the entire group?

Do I need a sarcasm and hypocrite tag here?

Yep. When a black female U.N. ambassador lies to the American people, republicans pick on her, but only because of her race and sex. When a black occupant of our White House turns out to be an anti-American communist, we only pick on him because of his race. When a black Attorney General supports and condones lawless conduct ranging from Black Panther voter intimidation to Fast and Furious, the republicans only pick on him because he's black. That race card gets a whole lot of mileage!

How did this get to be a Womyns' issue?

If that's all they have, they have proven themselves to be unfit for office.

This is about the truth, getting to the bottom of the lies.

Unless, of course, these womyns would have the world believe that lies are the expected default behaviour of womyns in Government.

This is beyond stupid. I am not so concerned with who carried the message- WHO sent her out there? Aren’t people tired of the race/gender game yet?

Why Rice was sent out has been clarified. She was untouchable.

Note that it’s ‘House Women’ defending Rice against ‘House’ Republicans.

Wrong on so many levels.

It’s Democrat Congresswomen, but hey, if they want to be called ‘House Women’ I guess that’s their prerogative.

If Republic women don’t come out across the nation and counter these communist comrades we deserve to be led around by the nose.

At very least, call your district congressman and protest the highjacking of the issue! The House female Alinskyites are gathering a feminist storm to obscure, deflect and detract from the Benghazi administrative cover up.

Are we women going to make our next nail appointment but fail to stick our finger on the phone and fight back?

”It is a shame that anytime something goes wrong, they pick on women and minorities,” Rep. Marcia Fudge, D-Ohio...

And you and your ilk didn’t pick on Reagan, Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Gingrich,, etc., etc., ad nauseum?

You forgot to include the most significant one (based on this idiot's criteria), Condoleezza Rice, Bush'43 Secretary of State! I am willing to bet that every single one of these 12 has a floor speech on record attacking THIS RICE if they were in office before 2008. But for the (unbiased) AP that might have taken too much research and besides it would have distracted from this breaking story, right?

Michele Bachmann is a member of the permanent select committee on intelligence. If the GOP could swallow their pride and gt over their hatred of conservatives Bachmann might be a very poweful asset.

While you have a point, the Untouchable One has always been and remains HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON. Please, let’s not forget whose department and whose security the ambassador fell under, appealed to and was denied outright by her hand, on her mission.
