Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal said Friday the state will not build its own online health insurance exchange where hundreds of thousands of consumers will shop for affordable coverage – ceding control to the federal government instead.

There are no Republicans in Georgia. Only Converted Democrats.

I am proud to say that I only voted for one Republican this election and even then I held my nose.

NO MORE!

The truly conservative Republicans do not want any part of Obamacare. That is why they are refusing to create insurance exchanges. They don't want the Feds to come in and do it, but if that's what the Feds do based on Obamacare, then that's what they do.

You seem to be underinformed with regard to this issue. Or you're a troll.

I predict the people who cave on this one issue will not have the support in whcih they will need to win reelection. This is where the heat hits the road. Stand up and help the American people in all of these states. I am praying that Gov Scott in Florida does not cave. He was strong on it last week by saying, No. I read he was weakening.

Hey Dacula - the article is written by the AJC so keep that in mind. All of the States should refuse to go along with creation of Obamacare health insurance exchanges. This is the feds’ deal. Let us not have States do their work for them. So this refusal by GA is a good thing. We did the same thing in Alabama yesterday.

Indiana has declined also, this was primarily done by incoming gov Mike Pence. That tells me they are making the best of a bad situation.

Here’s a line from your article:

“They are online marketplaces where consumers and small businesses will be able to compare the quality and prices of health plans.”

This is a lie. The exchanges are a one-size-fits-all health plan with gov’t subsidies for people who’re too poor to afford the full cost of the plan.

This article is bias and untrue in many ways.

By saying, ‘no’, the governors are putting the weight and responsibility of Obamacare squarely on Obama’s shoulders. (Where it should be.)

This is really good that states are refusing to create exchanges. IMO, the good thing about this is that, most likely, when the feds are left to set up these exchanges they will screw it up and it will cost way more than they have claimed, which will result in them ending up having to try to raise more taxes to pay for it.

This way, the public will be forced to see that, as Republicans warned, Obamacare will be causing overall health care spending to increase, not decrease as advertised.

Yes, they’re trying to make it sound like it’s some miraculous website or something. An exchange is actually a straightjacket of mandates for state insurance companies. They will have to compete with a nonprofit that can go across state lines.

It’s the same “facts” spewed in our local paper with a different title and state name. I’m hoping Governor McDonnell holds steady here in VA

Dacula,Its the ajc.Read how they make it sound as if the governor is capitulating to the fed.he is not.He is putting the onus on the fed and not helping with implementing obamascare and so many other states are doing the same thing. This is a good thing.Hope you are well,Tom.
