A majority of Americans believe the country will be better off four years from now, while 41% say it will be worse. But this level of optimism is down considerably from four years ago, following President Barack Obama's first election victory, when 65% said the country would be better off in four years, and prior to his first inauguration, when 72% said the same.

Insanity really set in and by the town he seized power 2 months later in January of 2009, 72% of Americans thought that four years of his policies would benefit this nation.
I guess I take some solace in the fact that the number is down 11% from four years ago...and I am BETTING that by January of 2013, Americans will have an even lower view of the future...
Which, while sad, would also be more realistic.
We are experience Jimmy Carter's third term.
gallup BS
Democrats are nearly unanimous in their positive feelings that the next four years will be better for the country, with 94% saying so versus 4% who think things will be worse. Republicans are nearly as united but in the opposite direction, with 11% saying the country will be better off and 86% seeing the country souring. Independents are more upbeat than not about the future, 51% to 40%.
WOW 11% have stopped living under rocks
Roughly the same percentage don’t know who the Vice President is.
I think too many people are doing too much “medical” happy smoke in this country. That or meth.
I think I’ve heard of Gallup. They’re the ones who said we would have a president-elect Romney right about now.
My God. How deluded can people believe. The economy is a mess. 23 million unemployed and more losing their jobs every day. It makes no sense. People have really gone mad.
BALONEY!
So 54% are too stupid to see a freight train coming straight at them.
54% of the country are absolute MORONS! And 65% were absolute MORONS in 2008!!!!!!
Apparently, as long as the MSM keep telling people everything is swell and Obama is terrific people really do buy it. Apparently staring down the barrel of total economic devistation doesn’t phase people as long as they have that warm glowing happy talk on the flat screen.
I can somewhat sympathize with the folks who expected better in 2009, because they were brainwashed about blank slate Baraq by the media. Those who have now experienced four years and still expect better really are morons.
Better off four years from now — because BO will finally be out of the White House (we hope)?
Wishful and hopeful thinking?
Must be disappointing for them to see their dear Leader down some though remaining upbeat that a good number of the Jim Jones followers are still on the Obama bus..
“Despite the smiles and the uplifting rhetoric, Romney’s message was essentially one of austerity: we’ll have to suck it up and tighten the belt before it gets better. And America did not want to hear that message. It burns.”
That 54% is nearly identical to the percentage that still blame Bush for the economy. Figures.
Don't worry..........be happy.
LOL
54% are optimistic? Makes sense to me. 51% re-elected the Marxist Despot. There is no statistically significant difference between those two numbers.
In 2008 65% of the people thought things would be better because the Food Stamp President would be leaving office in 4 years. In 2012 54% of the people think things will be better because the Food Stamp President will be leaving office, but he will have screwed up the economy so bad that 11% have given up hope.
Delusional imbeciles is more like it.
A majority of Americans are complete morons, cowards, and lazy scum.
If your tag is the real you, I feel sorry for you and your family....
EXACTLY! I sent an educated (former, now, after this week) 30 year friend an article with a bit of a snide comment on my part....she flipped out..saying that was MY Reality.....and she didn’t even vote for the “O”....she just doesn’t want to see or even think about what’s coming. I’m toxic and a ranter to her, just because I send INFORMATION.
President reagan must be spinning in his grave...Along with the Founding Fathers...
We are officially 10-years into the "thousand years"...

Who even dreams up this cr@p?
Spiritual blindness is difficult to fathom when your eyes see, and your ears hear.
We are like crazy men in dressed in skins of wild beasts imploring them to hear the Truth.
It will get worse, I fear. I had hoped for a reprieve.
That only means to me we must redouble our efforts. Win, lose or draw in this world matters not.
They never learn.
LOL !!!!! Morons!!!!
Clueless idiots.
It ain't gonna be long now...
I’ve been compiling a count of people laid off since the election it just broke 90,000.
That’s just the ones broadly announced.
90,000 in 10 days.
Yeah. Things are looking soooooo much better.
There is no shortage of useful idiots!
Isn't EVERYTHING Obama touches "unexpectedly" worse?
Except for people who know what this POS really is.
Then things are "expectedly" worse.
Unless Obama pursues some other course, why WOULD the economy get better? The same failed ideas that got us here will suddenly start working?
Buahahahahahahaha!
People believe the continuing Obama campaign, which has not ceased since 2007.
A reality check will happen soon, and these dreamers will awaken, and be very, very angry, when their fridges are no longer full.
Dope springs eternal.
The poor, dumb, people who think they will be better off are going to be the ones hurt the most. They chose what they wanted to trickle down on them, and it is going to get deep.
Yes. December’s job numbers data collection stops on Nov. 13.
By that time I expect my list will clear 100,000, and I’m not even looking at anything between Oct 13 and Nov 6. Nor do I see any of the small company layoffs.
I’d guess that for every WARN act reporting threshold layoff there’s another laid off coffee shop waitress, Mom’n’Pop store clerk or small company gofer.
Say 300,000 newly unemployed reported 3 weeks before Christmas?
So 54% are too stupid to see a freight train coming straight at them.
That’s one way to thin the herd.... B-P

LOL!! At least they’ll have their Obama phone to call 911.
the gates are all down
the signals are flashing

Hank Rearden: “What are you counting on?!”
An old song from my Sunday school days keeps popping into my mind as an ear worm.
This world is not my home, I’m just a passing through, my treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue;
The angels beckon me from heaven’s open door and I can’t feel at home in this world anymore.
Oh, Lord you know, I have no friend like you, if heaven’s not my home, then Lord what will I do. The angels beckon me from heaven’s open door and I can’t feel at home in the world anymore. (at least not in the US)
It ain’t the place I was born.
The Flag is different.
The Pledge is different.
And so much more is alien.
They better hope the cell towers are working. B-)
Gallup? Next!
no shortage of stupid people coming out of government operated schools. just think how the dmv and post offcie operate. that tells you something.
This has not hit home we are still living in the capitalist sytem looking over at the offerings ubango has instore for us but not experiencing it yet, wait............when it comes down and people get a taste they will rise up and he will clamp down.
That was exactly how I took it, too.
