Gun Store Owner to Obama Voters: You Are Not Welcome

An Arizona gun store owner said he will not sell weapons to customers who voted for Obama.
They’re too stupid.

Not Welcome

Todd Starnes reported, via FOX Nation:

The owner of an Arizona gun store said he will not sell weapons to customers who voted for President Obama because “you have proven that you are not responsible enough to own a firearm.”

Cope Reynolds, owner of the Southwest Shooting Authority in Pinetop, Ariz., posted the new store policy in a newspaper advertisement — as well as on a sign posted on the front door.

“If you voted for Barack Obama your business is not welcome at Southwest Shooting Authority,” the ad reads. “You have proven that you are not responsible enough to own a firearm.”

The Southwest Shooting Authority is a family-owned, family-run business that Reynolds opened in 2004. He told Fox News that he’s absolutely serious about the new policy.

“I’m a small business owner,” he said. “If you are dumb enough to vote for Obama again – after four years of this — I don’t think you are responsible enough to own a firearm. I don’t care who it makes mad.”

“WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE TO obama VOTERS!”

I remember similar signs in stores from my youth.

“A man who apparently doesn’t understand the constitution....”

Actually, you don’t understand the Constitution. The Constitution restricts state action, not private action.

As a private citizen, he is free to discriminate based on political party.

People are confused by this because there are anti-discrimination laws, but those laws only forbid discrimination based on sex, race, religion, national origin, and veterans.

Telling useless Democrats to hit the door

It doesn’t violate 2nd amendment rights.

The second amendment prevents gun-grabs by government.

It, in no way, prevents a private citizen from refusing to sell to another private citizen.

Good afternoon.

Methinks you might have a case of butt hurt. Good thing for you is that it will go away soon.

That is the beauty of FR.

NOT selling to those who have already demonstrated diminished mental capacity seems like a great way to avoid potential lawsuits as well.

Heck, I would appreciate all businesses putting up signs like this, even those that tell me they don’t my business for being conservative. At least that way, I would know who not to do business with.

If I tell him I voted for Sarah will I get a free box of ammo with my firearm purchase?

Why not ? Yesterday I saw a sign that read, “BOGO in November for our LGBT community members”.

If liberals can give discounts based on liberal activity then why shouldn’t other business owners give or deny preferential business based on liberal activity? Fair is fair.

The sign seems redundant. I didn't think convicted felons were allowed to buy guns.

Cool! I used to live in Pinetop, about a mile from this gun shop. It was a great little town in the mid-70s, but has “grown up” too much since then.

Says the man who doesn't understand freedom or the constitution. I'm sure your heart is in the right place but your mind is a bit out of kilter.

Excuse the partial thread-crapphing later...

Confused possibly, as as long as no Rights are not denied, anti-discrimination laws are Unconstitutional as well (along with a plethora of other laws/regs/etc.)

Unless the State/Fed are paying his bills/lease/etc. he can do what he damn well pleases. Anyone objects is free to find somewhere else to patronize.

I tip my hat to this man and his (I hope/pray) successful business. There should be more like him.

Let me preface, I’m not talking specifically to anyone in the following:

I’m continually amazed when the 2nd Amend., and thoughts like Snark post, brings out the Libertarian bent to the thread. Strict reading of the Constitution...

But, bring up anti-drug, anti-world-police, SSI or any number of issues and you’d think that poster was the rt-hand man of the Devil himself. Especially when their own ox is gored.

No wonder the (R) just got their asses handed to them. They can’t even settle on what they should be fighting against.

Let's see the ACLU get involved to protect the rights of obama voters who want to buy guns...HAHAHAHAHAHA If they do, this guy is a marketing genius, being forced to sell his product to a whole group of people that probably wouldn't buy there in the first place.

Here's an idea -- post in the store and print on the receipts "Every purchase in this store includes a $1 contribution to Gun Owners of America." Or some variation of that. So if any Obama voters happened to get lost in the gun shop, they would be supporting something they don't support. Although I doubt very many Obama voters would be there anyway.

Please tell us you were just joking us around here Snark because no FReeper is stupid enough to make a statement like that. That comment is destined to be posted on the DUmp’s site as in: “Hey guys, look at how the idiot freepers think about how the Constitution works”. If it was sarc. you fooled me.
