It's a throw-away line, but it makes a powerful point. BTW, it usually turns out that mass shootings are done by liberals who chose to misuse firearms. Congresswoman Gabby-WhatsHerName being the most recent victim.

“Why would anyone who sets up a business purposely discourage 50% of the potential customer base”

Yeah,, half the people strolling through gun stores are Obama voters. Thats like saying a gay sex art exhibit is driving away 50% of it’s customer base by saying no republican voters.

Bingo! This has nothing to do with the Second Amendment or anything else involving the Constitution.

This is about incompetency. Remember all of the whining we heard about why somebody sold Loughner and the jackass in Colorado a gun? This guy is only trying to keep guns out of the hands of certifiable braindead, irresponsible and incompetent morons. Remember, the felon vote broke for Obama big time.

Clearly race cannot be used as an excuse not to sell a firearm to a person, that would be a violation of a citizens 2nd amendment rights in todays America.

No, that would be a violation of anti-discrimination laws, which deal with public facilities being denied on the basis of specific status, race, religion, ethnicity, etc.. I don't believe political affiliation is considered as such. If a newpaper decides not to sell advertizements to the Klan that doesn't violate the KKK's free speech. Ihe 1st amendment does not require anyone to help you excercise your right to free speech. The 2nd Ammendment limits the government from infinging peoples rights, it doesn't require private citizens to sell you a gun.

“I’m a small business owner,” he said. “If you are dumb enough to vote for Obama again – after four years of this — I don’t think you are responsible enough to own a firearm. I don’t care who it makes mad.”

To be fair, Romney has signed into law more gun bans than Obama ever has.

What's he, store owner, going to do, asking for voter id card?

I suspect skin color will be a good enough indicator for him.

p. sure that's the subtext of the sign.

“A man who apparently doesn’t understand the constitution....”

Actually, you don’t understand the Constitution. The Constitution restricts state action, not private action.

As a private citizen, he is free to discriminate based on political party.

People are confused by this because there are anti-discrimination laws, but those laws only forbid discrimination based on sex, race, religion, national origin, and veterans.

Telling useless Democrats to hit the door

It doesn’t violate 2nd amendment rights.

The second amendment prevents gun-grabs by government.

It, in no way, prevents a private citizen from refusing to sell to another private citizen.

NOT selling to those who have already demonstrated diminished mental capacity seems like a great way to avoid potential lawsuits as well.

Why not ? Yesterday I saw a sign that read, “BOGO in November for our LGBT community members”.

If liberals can give discounts based on liberal activity then why shouldn’t other business owners give or deny preferential business based on liberal activity? Fair is fair.

Excuse the partial thread-crapphing later...

Confused possibly, as as long as no Rights are not denied, anti-discrimination laws are Unconstitutional as well (along with a plethora of other laws/regs/etc.)

Unless the State/Fed are paying his bills/lease/etc. he can do what he damn well pleases. Anyone objects is free to find somewhere else to patronize.

I tip my hat to this man and his (I hope/pray) successful business. There should be more like him.

Let me preface, I’m not talking specifically to anyone in the following:

I’m continually amazed when the 2nd Amend., and thoughts like Snark post, brings out the Libertarian bent to the thread. Strict reading of the Constitution...

But, bring up anti-drug, anti-world-police, SSI or any number of issues and you’d think that poster was the rt-hand man of the Devil himself. Especially when their own ox is gored.

No wonder the (R) just got their asses handed to them. They can’t even settle on what they should be fighting against.

Let's see the ACLU get involved to protect the rights of obama voters who want to buy guns...HAHAHAHAHAHA If they do, this guy is a marketing genius, being forced to sell his product to a whole group of people that probably wouldn't buy there in the first place.

Here's an idea -- post in the store and print on the receipts "Every purchase in this store includes a $1 contribution to Gun Owners of America." Or some variation of that. So if any Obama voters happened to get lost in the gun shop, they would be supporting something they don't support. Although I doubt very many Obama voters would be there anyway.

Since odinga hasn't you think he won't?

To be fair, that is stupid.

He did give guns to Mexican gang members in an effort to facilitate damaging the Second Amendment.

To be fair, Romney sure as hell hasn't done that.

To be fair, your entire comment is specious.

Really? Any firearm I could've bought four years ago I can still buy today. That's more than can be said for those MA residents under Romney's term. Romney was no friend to gun owners. He had legislation with his signature behind it to back this statement up. I'm still quite dumbfounded that the NRA decided to endorse him, a man with a record of banning guns as opposed to his opponent who had never banned anything.

This being said, I'm not stupid. I have no doubt that Barack Obama would gleefully sign any piece of gun control legislation that congress passes across his desk.

Romney would have as well.

I can totally understand your friends view point. My dad was stationed in London in 61-63 so we got to do some travel while there. We went to Berlin in 62 after the wall was built and we actually got to take a tour to the east side through CP Charlie. What a dismal contrast between the two sides. East side still had debris from WW2 everywhere. Very few cars on the street. People walking with their heads down. Very depressing. West side was thriving and a lot of reconstruction had been done. I still have a map of Berlin showing the entire city surrounded by barbed wire and barbed wire running between the east and west sides. History isn’t taught anymore unless it is to instill guilt in the youngsters for having such a good life. Sad situation.

Zerocare. Very appropriate.
