Gingrich on Romney’s ‘gifts’ comments: ‘It’s nuts’
Yahoo News ^

Posted on 11/18/2012 12:15:36 PM PST by Windy City Conservative

"It's nuts," Gingrich told guest host Martha Raddatz on ABC's "This Week" on Sunday. "First of all, it's insulting. This would be like Wal-Mart having a bad week and going, 'The customers have really been unruly.' I mean, the job of a political leader in part is to understand the people. If we can't offer a better future that is believable to more people, we're not going to win."

Young Asian-Americans are not the same as the ones Newt remembers.

The hard working capitalists of yesteryear are the new crony capitalists of today. More and more, they're coming to realize that if you want to be successful in Obamaville, you have to pay out enough of your profits to DemocRAT graft. That's the only way you'll get certain "favors" which will allow your business to succeed.

This is the Pelosi/Obama/Reid Democrat Party's plan: to keep converting people on the public dole into lazy ObamaPhone ladies, and making more and more producers into deciding they have to become crony capitalists.

Is it too late to turn it around? I don't know.

Once China calls our debt; I hope those who received Obama’s gifts are the first ones sent over to China to work off the debt. It’s like having to stay and do the dishes, when you can’t pay the restaurant tab.

The dirty little secret is that China isn’t financing our debt anymore. The Federal Reserve is buying it with $$ conjured out of thin air.

“There goes the Newt would have been better than Mitt concept.”

Yep!

Same here. I read the whole article and Newt's right.

Well, Newt is a realist and he knows people are no longer looking for “the good life” that includes a maximum amount of freedom and opportunity. They’re looking for “the goods life” that includes everyone having stuff, stuff, and more stuff, no matter what amount of freedom and dignity they have to give up to have that stuff.

The democrat fascists built their current model for society on what the book, “Beyond Freedom and Dignity”, espoused as the proper future for mankind. For decades they’ve carefully attacked industries that employ large numbers of people in order to increase dependence, brainwashed several generations of young people to prefer wallowing with the rest of the pigs to making something of themselves, and gradually made childish behavior the accepted norm for people well into their twenties.

Unless most people believe an alternative will make it possible for them to have more stuff, telling them they’ll have more freedom doesn’t even register with them.

Neither are the whites. Remember seven millions of them did not vote this time.

“The good Newt would have stood by the “gifts” comments and explained it better than Mitt.”

Exactly. Conservatives all should be doubling down on the concept of limited government in anticipation of the inevitable US Debt Crisis. Therefore, when the sh*t hits the fan only conservatives will be in a position to claim the mantle of correctness. Amazing how people like Christy, Jindal and Newt put themselves in a position that doesn’t distinguish themselves as disagreeing with our Entitlement Culture.

Gingrich would have lost 46 states if he had been the candidate.

Douche douching on a douche.

Now that the GOP has sacrificed Allen West on the altar of political correctness and they confirm his loss in the recount, they will finally have achieved their goal of getting rid of the last honest and manly man in national politics.

Et tu, Newt?

That didn't take long :(

Conservative principles are being thrown under the bus, along with Romney.

Welllll, a gift is given from the heart. I do not consider the redistribution of peoples wealth by the long arms of government any part of giving gifts.

Who does Santa ripoff on his fairly tale journey to deliver gifts? The recipients of wealth redistribution do not consider what they get as gifts, they believe they are owed. It is ‘social justice’ to the overwhelming majority.

Everyone knows the Dems use the USA treasury to buy the votes. Romney stating it isn’t wrong. Romney isn’t a liar, but Gingrich is either a liar or a blind fool; take your pick.

“Gingrich is wrong.”

“The GOP is doomed.”

Newt Gingrich allied himself with Ronald Reagan to build the Reagan Coalition, the Religious Right, and the Republican majority (together the Reagan Revolution) which directly led to the Contract with America, government reforms, less government, tax cuts, a balanced budget, and the great, long-standing Reagan economy.

And you say he is wrong?

Fourteen years later Under a Republican president, the Republican Congress added over $3 trillion to the federal deficit, shunned conservative policy in favor of Beltway influence-peddling, and so damaged the GOP brand that we lost the majority Gingrich had worked years to forge.

THIS is what Gingrich was talking about changing; Romney was the champion of these thieves in Congress - is that what you wanted?

How much should I really care what you think of Newt? How much have you done in your life to promote the responsible use of liberty necessary to turn this nation around?

I don’t give a damn what your or anyone else thinks about Gingrich, or that he would be a disaster for Republicans. Romney has been a disaster.

Don’t forget that 2010 was not a merit promotion; they, the Republicans, were the only alternative in town.

If you neither trust nor like Newt Gingrich, so what. People like you parrot old talking points from the Romney campaign.

The Democrats are the party of ‘Free Shit’. Republicans should be the party of freedom, rule of law, and the responsible use of that freedom.

It’s funny about the “stuff and more stuff” thing. Liberals like to pretend they are anti-consumerism, but the fact is, they are the biggest consumers of all. Once government pays for your housing, education, health, food, etc, all a liberal’s money goes to is entertainment. The latest iWidgets and iGadgets are all being snapped up by libs who can’t wait to compare apps. Conservatives spend their money on canned foods and home-schooling, liberals spend it at Gap, Ikea, and Apple. Then they snarl about capitalism. It’s just weird.

Just a matter of time until the real Newt emerged. His act of calling out the media was just that.....an act. He’s smooching media behinds again which is his normal position. On his knees....

The bad Newt returns. The good Newt would have stood by the “gifts” comments and explained it better than Mitt.

One of Newt's most reliable characteristics is that just when you get comfortable with "good Newt," you turn around and "bad Newt" is sitting across from you, often serving up something that the MSM can use to help bludgeon freedom. No mystery why a guy they supposedly dislike so much remains a broadcasting staple nearly 20 years down the road. Still, he also has legions of "conservative" fans remaining- many who see the man through the rose-tinted glasses of 1994... back when they came with the polarized lenses that allowed them to see only the Gingrich they agreed with. I'd probably be depressed further if I knew how many people here think the guy ought to be on the GOP ticket in 2016 (or 2020, or 2024).

Well, here's to Newt Gingrich: occasionally right, occasionally wrong, but always looking out for what's best for Newt Gingrich. He's reliable in that respect as well.

Typical GOP, throw out your own as yesterday’s garbage.

Meanwhile Bill Clinton is laughing all the way back to the White House with Hilary.

No, this doesn’t properly show how Conservatives are in a bind, Romney is not a Conservative. If he had run with that comment, thinking like a Conservative, there would have been a different outcome.

It is difficult to determine what it would have been, as I cannot imagine Mitt thinking and talking like a Conservative. He did have a momentary visit with the truth and common sense with the comment. But because of that, it was a hot potato for him.

Newt would’ve ended up on the sofa with Pelosi.

You’re right. They value themselves within their peer group by whether they have the right goodies, not by what they share with the group in the way of conversation, sense of humor, and so on.
