Something New From Obamacare?
Vanity

Posted on 11/18/2012 2:09:01 PM PST by Williams

A relative who cared for her elderly mother, just deceased, is dealing with the various medical bills from the hospital and doctors.

She sees on all of the statements now, a check off to be marked by the provider, certifying something to the effect that the treatment was "consistent with and appropriate for, the age of the patient".

She says she never saw those before in all her years of caring for her mother. Is this part of Obamacare beginning to limit medical care for our elderly?

I also heard from someone who has tried to read portions of the legislation. She said there was something “forbidding euthenasia discrimination.” I don’t have a clue what that means, but it can’t be good.

Care will be rationed - starting at age 76.

Even cancer treatment (page 272).

In other words, just give them a little pain pill and send them home to die.

I wonder how many dems will be surprised when their parents are not eligible for care .. will they think O-Care is a good idea ..??

around page 191:

SEC. 1553. PROHIBITION AGAINST DISCRIMINATION ON ASSISTED SUICIDE.
(a) IN GENERAL.—The Federal Government, and any State or
local government or health care provider that receives Federal
financial assistance under this Act (or under an amendment made
by this Act) or any health plan created under this Act (or under
an amendment made by this Act), may not subject an individual
or institutional health care entity to discrimination on the basis
that the entity does not provide any health care item or service
furnished for the purpose of causing, or for the purpose of assisting
in causing, the death of any individual, such as by assisted suicide,
euthanasia, or mercy killing.
(b) DEFINITION.—In this section, the term ‘‘health care entity’’
includes an individual physician or other health care professional,
a hospital, a provider-sponsored organization, a health maintenance
organization, a health insurance plan, or any other kind of health
care facility, organization, or plan.
(c) CONSTRUCTION AND TREATMENT OF CERTAIN SERVICES.—
Nothing in subsection (a) shall be construed to apply to, or to
affect, any limitation relating to—
(1) the withholding or withdrawing of medical treatment
or medical care;
(2) the withholding or withdrawing of nutrition or hydration;
(3) abortion; or
(4) the use of an item, good, benefit, or service furnished
for the purpose of alleviating pain or discomfort, even if such
use may increase the risk of death, so long as such item,
good, benefit, or service is not also furnished for the purpose
of causing, or the purpose of assisting in causing, death, for
any reason.
(d) ADMINISTRATION.—The Office for Civil Rights of the Department
of Health and Human Services is designated to receive complaints
of discrimination based on this section.
SEC. 1554. ACCESS TO THERAPIES.

I don’t know what it means either.

It is a lot cheaper for the system to get as many people on hospice care as possible. You know, only medication for pain. No heart or cancer or high blood pressure medication will be allowed. Nothing for the patient that will remotely extend their lives.

And that is precisely how Obamacare will slip into euthanasia.

The fist part of the section would seem to prohibit discrimination against entities that prohibit assisted suicide. Why would this need to be codified, do you think?

Yep. Deathcare. They are not allowed to discriminate against people by age...and race. Most old people they are targeting for death, are of a certain race.

It’s now that conservatives need to organize old people for education and political/legal action against the socialist police state.

Yup- so is there a section making assisted suicide legal, regardless of existing laws?
Or one providing for a fee schedule for euthanasia?
Scary business.

I guess that means such backward institutions, like Catholic hospitals, will be tolerated, for now.

Sure seems upside down even to have to mention it.

It was page 141 in my version, by the way.

No one has yet to answer your question: “Is this part of Obamacare beginning to limit medical care for our elderly?”

No. This is part of the Patient Bill of Rights and is actually, in a way, opposite of what you fear it is.

What makes you think a Democrat would care about their parents getting care or not they most likely want them to die afterall Democrats wrote the legislation.

I would suggest that most progressives won’t care if their parents get death paneled. Most will be sacking their homes and bank accounts while they are being helped along to meet their maker. It will be very ironic (and maybe even Twilight Zone) that they find out that their beloved parents took out a reverse mortgage on the house and spent every penny they had on a final flings.

Surprised? More like satisfied that they got exactly what they voted for. Sure, they'll fuss and cry about the inhumanity of it all, but it's always the same two-faced emotional BS. A good number of them will wail and moan all right while they push and shove their way toward granny's possessions and bank accounts.

I'm not a complete cynic, though. Some of these people will genuinely want their elderly relatives to live, and would even be willing to care for them. In those cases, the commies will conveniently know somebody in the Obamacare supply chain, and guess what, "It's a miracle!" Their relatives will be sure to obtain care— at the expense of yours.

The Obama Nation is Jackboot Nation, on every level. Party membership has its perks. Expect the Bloc Babushkas to have a keen sense of hearing and a certain spring in their steps.

Actually the “target age” of healthcare is between the ages of 15-40 over that and under that it is subject to how expensive the treatment is.I’m figuring the first time those young who wanted this gave a 23 week old preemie and are told the treatment is too expensive they may final get what Obamacare really is.....

“consistent with and appropriate for, the age of the patient”.

That blurb comes from JCAHO standards that are IIRC a least a decade old. (Joint Comm. Accreditation of Hospitals)

Appears in many areas regarding patient care standards, ie Job Desc, Performance Evals....

Oh I believe it.I am already facing some of the limits Obamacare places.I spent over a week trying desperately to find where I needed to order supplies for my insulin pump from as my supply dwindled. The insurance company told me one thing then I’d contact a place and they would call back telling me my insurance wasn’t accepted.I had to basically sit on the phone asking to talk to a supervisor for hours to finally find a place to order from.I was told by them that the changes were due to changes that came in Obamacare. I am just hoping that in 3 more months I don’t have the same issues again as I have in the last 6 months. It’s very stressful thinking I may not have a delivery system for my insulin.Type 1 diabetics die without insulin.
