'Gifts': 2016 Frontrunners Already Caving to Media
Big Journalism ^ | November 18, 2012 | John Nolte

Posted on 11/18/2012 5:29:40 PM PST by Bratch

Late last week, in a conference call with donors, Governor Mitt Romney said what we all know to be the truth: that Obama's reelection plan was to divide Americans across various lines and dole out government freebies, such as health insurance, amnesty, and birth control. The promise of these "gifts" (or the fear of losing them) would then drive out turnout, specifically among those who did turn out: blacks, students, and Hispanics -- and lo and behold, it worked.

For days now, Romney's been blistered by the media for telling a truth about a political tactic that the media itself declared as smart politics in real-time as Obama practiced it. I guess the lesson is that practicing divisive politics with the use of taxpayer-funded freebies is okay, but pointing it out is racist.

[...]

Whatever.

What should worry us, though, is that some of the men who seek to carry our flag into 2016 have jumped aboard this Nonsense Train with both feet. At differing levels of indignation, Bobby Jindal, Chris Christie, and Marco Rubio have all publicly criticized Romney for telling this truth.

Speaking only for myself, let me just say that if this is the first step these men are taking towards a 2016 White House bid -- I'm not impressed. Attacking a man for telling what we all know is the truth, is political cowardice. Tactically, though, it's just dumb, and dumb will not win the White House in 2016.

I’m afraid American conservatism will be like British conservatism: just a degree or two to the right of the true left.

The GOP did NOT give us OBAMA twice; that is BS.
I think we have be adults and realize that Romney did a great job of painting a positive contrast to Obama.
The failings of this campaign were due to how much was already given to government employees and losers by the Democrat party before Obama came in and how vastly much more he increased it.

2 year unemployment.

Obama-phone...

Lots more food stamps.

Got rid of the work requirement for welfare and other reforms put in by Gingrich and Clinton.

Greatly grew government, and directed almost all stimulus to government workers.

Top 2% pay 75% of all taxes and he created class warfare to direct the anger at the successful people instead if the unsuccessful Obama.

Obama-care, greatly increasing more government employees and the IRS.

On and on.

Romney painted a direct contrast and informed the American people we are on the path for Greece, but they voted Greece.

So this isn’t the GOP and they have been fighting the Democrat party giving away the Treasury for the vote for some 40 years now.
How do you fight politicians willing to give money away from the treasury with talk of balancing budgets and getting strong again when SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE AND WANT THEIR HANDS OUT FOR MORE.

I am married to a great lady who was from Mexico and even she says people, especially poor ones come here from Mexico to try and work and get on the dole because you do real well with all the hand outs here versus nothing in Mexico.

PS, wife works and pays taxes. But she is the kind we wanted here in America, self supporting and a tax payer, not taker.

I also have sympathy for the poor from elsewhere. I’m not trying to be mean, but they need to make paradise in their lands and not bankrupting our lands. God bless them, but...

You, me and the rest of the choir, here, get that message. We’d truly like to see those that are dependent become transformed from “victim” to victor. The sad reality is that a many - not all - of these “victims” have no desire or interest, in getting their dignity back if it means having to actually work for a living.

I agree with you. Our real problem in America is the electorate: many are willingly ignorant, want a hand-out, not a hand-up, and many just don’t care. There will always be a radical liberal ready to take the reins of the POTUS, but it’s the those of America that vote for such a one that really concerns me.

"What has he done to protect and defend the Constitution?"

Nothing. And he's not eligible anyway. It's hilarious that he and his supporter think the Democrats would let him slide on the NBC issue.

Don't kid yourselves. They wouldn't let McCain slide but somehow they will let Rubio? Guess again. Laws are only for Republicans.

Now if Rubio was a Dem, he'd be good to go.

This entire show is ridiculous. The republicans have the American message and just refuse to expand on that and take that message to the American people. It's like they really do not want the power back. How many years are we to put up with this..another election it will be too late. I don't think they are going to change. Come on..they could not even find the will to beat Obama after we all know that he's deliberately changing our country for the worse. Each election cycle, we are losing more of our voters who have given up/lost faith in this party. Warning signs everywhere. They have to change and come out fighting..I mean tough (not extreme) Fighting Obama every inch every moment of their lives.

“They wouldn’t let McCain slide”

And by let McCain slide, I mean be both their NBC foil and patsy.

I’m very disappointed in this from the GOP. Considering these are people who were all for Romney, throwing him under the bus for stating the ugly truth is just low.

It is ok. Romney is done. You can stop sticking up for the liberal. You do know he would have been a disaster as much if not more then Obama. Stop sticking up for the RINO!!!!

On November 14, 2012, Ted Cruz was appointed vice-chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. He can deliver the message.

Jill Kelley crashed a fundraiser for Rubio, had her pix taken with him - then fled the scene. She later invited him to one of her shindigs, and he refused. Get your facts straight.

Thank you for letting me know.

Praying to God, that he stays true to the people, the constitution. Wouldn't that be awesome.

So, you are saying that Rubio isn’t natural born? Last I knew he was born in Miami, FL. That makes him as natural born as I am.

I can’t take this. We are only a couple weeks out of a fraudulent election and already everyone is pulling the purist card on us. Let’s wait and see what the field looks like as we get closer to 2016. We aren’t going to find someone 100% pure. As great as Ronald Reagan was - he did some things which were horrible such as amnesty and the Iran-Contra affair.

Get over this purist attitude. Even a bona-fide conservative isn’t going to give us 100% of whatever litmus test we have imbred in us.

“Rubio is not natural born, thus not eligible for the Presidency or Vice Presidency.”

I thought his parents were US citizens when he was born?

“Get over this purist attitude.”

Eat it. The Geriatric Old Plotters have been as impure as a sump tank at a leper colony for two decades.

Time to recognize it is a false front and be done with the failure mongering clown show.

Had a facebook friend that was against Obama way back in the primaries...but she fell for the “war on women” thing and was convinced that Romney and the GOP were going to ban all contraceptives and try to take away women’s vote. She’s here in Idaho so didn’t really matter much cause Romney still carried 65%...but I know there were more like her out in the battleground states where it mattered most.
