'Gifts': 2016 Frontrunners Already Caving to Media
Big Journalism ^ | November 18, 2012 | John Nolte

Posted on 11/18/2012 5:29:40 PM PST by Bratch

Late last week, in a conference call with donors, Governor Mitt Romney said what we all know to be the truth: that Obama's reelection plan was to divide Americans across various lines and dole out government freebies, such as health insurance, amnesty, and birth control. The promise of these "gifts" (or the fear of losing them) would then drive out turnout, specifically among those who did turn out: blacks, students, and Hispanics -- and lo and behold, it worked.

For days now, Romney's been blistered by the media for telling a truth about a political tactic that the media itself declared as smart politics in real-time as Obama practiced it. I guess the lesson is that practicing divisive politics with the use of taxpayer-funded freebies is okay, but pointing it out is racist.

What should worry us, though, is that some of the men who seek to carry our flag into 2016 have jumped aboard this Nonsense Train with both feet. At differing levels of indignation, Bobby Jindal, Chris Christie, and Marco Rubio have all publicly criticized Romney for telling this truth.

Speaking only for myself, let me just say that if this is the first step these men are taking towards a 2016 White House bid -- I'm not impressed. Attacking a man for telling what we all know is the truth, is political cowardice. Tactically, though, it's just dumb, and dumb will not win the White House in 2016.

If they were, then yes, he would be a natural born citizen.

Unfortunately, I do not believe they had become citizens when their boy Marco was born. Close, though.

Creepy that he didn’t acknowledge that fact when being considered for VP. If he had, I would be a huge Rubio fan. That he didn’t, tells me a great deal about Marco Rubio.

So,what difference does it make now? Obama was born to a Kenyan and was elected. I’m not sure but I think there is a Supreme Court decision regarding this. Anyway, Chester Arthur was our 21rd president - check him out. His father, was born in Ireland, and even though he left office after becoming president when James Garfield was assassinated, he only made a half attempt at winning the nomination - even though he came into office as the least trusted politician - he left with high praise from friend and foe.

Some of you think you know more than what you do.

2012 Result
Expecting voters to know what’s going on and their reliance on MSM is just part of why our great loss. While there are examples of fraud which may close up the gap, the gap is too big to blame the loss on fraud ...Expecting GOP E’s to address media bias or Romney to call Obama a congenital liar or even point out that the fact and figures released by the white house were allways questionable is another Let alone call him a “socialist”.. But the fault lies really in the messaging the Republican campaign came up.choking on political correctness parameters or triping over past positions on global warming and Romneycare both of which were bread and butter issues. .Then busy responding to pseudo positions devised by the demo-com party and echoed by their hand maiden camp followers in the media allowing them to set the agenda ..

Romney ran a “Johnny One Note Campaign”. Used a poison dart blow gun when he should have used a cannon loaded with grape shot because he had pleanty of stuff he could fill that cannon barrel with..

They failed to hammer away on what will happen when Obama gets returned; The Obama past due 2013/14 Tax Increases. The impact of Obama’s gagging energy.resources.(a socialist construct never branded as such) with policies requiring reliance on intermittent sources wind and solar and that resulting in massive corruption .,restricted use of drilling, and coal ,bans and on fracking, and resulting prices doubling on everything.. This was a bread and butter issue which reached into every “demographics” pocketbook including accepting the demo-com definition of hyphenated African-Hispanic -Americans . .The impact of Supreme Court Appointments.. 18,000 new IRS agents and on and on. . Some were very briefly touched most weren’t and Benghazi/ foreign policy was left to languish. Then there is Obama’s personal extravagance and behavior refusing to visit Nashville after its disaster showing up at New Orleans after Mitt visited it. Even after the Christi thing if that was brought up it would have blunted the impact.

Instead we got a sales pitch on executive ability but not the reason why one should toss the old model and buy his. That print and tv pitch , 20 million new jobs, was given a discrarded dose of skepticism .

In addition Rove who I understand was handling the Charter PAC senate campaign played games. His material never warned voters that IF OBAMA GETS RE-ELECTED AND SENATE CONTROL REMAINED . .. OBAMACARE AND ALL THE TAX INCREASES THAT GO WITH IT WILL NEVER GET REPEALED Let alone tie into or cover the formentioned grape shot which would have perhaps changed that body. I don’t recall any of that material directed toward that fact.

Finally they didn’t believe the polls which turned out were dead on. Not setting up focus groups which could have looked into what’s going on . Even to the point of going out to local eateries and bars and eavesdrop into conversations and pick up on topics being discussed.(chat rooms twitter too contrived) They would have learned their turnout projections were off and the sence of urgency to get out the vote was diminished by their glowing projections and disbelief never mind ORCA which should have been tested. COMPLACENCY WAS ENCOURAGED BY THE MEDIA AND NOT COUNTER ACTED UPON

Our local small population (-8000) rural blue county GOP had at the outset good and growing attendence at their meetings 50 plus. At the meeting the Thursday before the election only about a dozen people showed up and I knew we were in trouble .

Nuts...This loss is inexcuseable, while I trully don’t believe Mitt Romney would ever continence losing, I’m begining to believe that most GOPE’s really didn’t want to see AHCA, (affordable health care act) otherwise known as ZerO care go ..

Most big businesses would love to offload their health care costs onto the taxpayer. Which is why I doubted O-care would go even if the GOP won everything.

Who wants to be first telling me again how important is is to support these republican posers? Here is a factoid... LLS has supported the gop for the last time... if they want my vote... they are going to have to secure it the old fashioned way... they are going to have to earn it. Never again will I vote for the default candidate. I tried it "their way" for the last time. Their way loses elections... turning harder left will lose elections by bigger margins. Either way... the gop can foad. Not a penny until they start acting like the party of Reagan.

Tina, not sure what you mean by “he is, actually”.

He was born in America to Cuban parents, who were actually citizens of Cuba.

Even if you argue he was a citizen of America under the 14th Amendment, that does not negate the requirements of Article II, Section 8.

as a citizen, he is eligible to be a Senator.

But he does not meet the requirements to be President or Vice President.

I agree, but the real problem is that people don’t realize that the leftist propaganda machine is a lose-lose situation, so they blame whatever they wish whenever they lose, sort of like a little kid. Frankly, candidates could prove fine to me, but the GOP as a party is pretty much as bad as the Democrats for really just willing to toss away the war for losing the battle. It’s really pathetic

What difference does it make now?

It is called the rule of law, without which, you have anarchy.

Two wrongs don’t make a right, unless you’re a Democrat, in that case you are on the wrong site.

As for Chester Arthur, the records proving his father’s foreign birth were not available until well after Arthur was out of office.

There is evidence that Arthur deliberately hid these facts, as it was rumored at the time of his running that he was ineligible, but it could not be proven.

Sorry, but after the Kenyan, there is no way i would support Rubio.

At some point, the corrective course of action must be made, and the law upheld.

And, just who is going to uphold the rule of law? The Democrats?

Look, we’re barely 3 weeks from the past failure of an election, and I’m sick of this meme already about who is going to run in 2016. I’m also sick of the purist attitude coming from some on here already. They won’t vote for this one or that one and Good God - we’ve lost 2 elections in a row - and unlike the Demoncrats - we eat our own already. Yeah, they believe in abortion on the left, but our side cannibalizes anyone on our side who runs. I’ve read about Chester Arthur, and have not read that he tried to conceal where his father was born.

Give it a rest already, will you? Rubio hasn’t announced he is going to run - and if he does, I suspect that FReepers will dissect him and spit him out as they have done all our candidates.

Sorry if someone pissed in your Wheaties this morning, but I am not the one making a Federal case about this. I have stated a simple, legal, Constitutional fact.

I did not criticize Rubio for his positions.

Going to Iowa has a meaning. Otherwise, why would a Senator from FL go to IA?

If he means to try to be President , he can forget it, and so can the GOP-L (L is for Losers)

Why would an ex-governor go to Iowa? Remember Sarah Palin? She went there and didn’t run. His trip means nothing other than a fundraising at this point.

And, no one pissed in my Wheaties. Who pissed in yours? Some on here think they have all the answers, and don’t. Others have a purist attitude and no one is ever going to be good enough for their puritanical viewpoint. Therefore, we continue to lose election after election, and get stuck with the likes of zero and his ilk.

I agree also. Romney told the truth, and he certainly had the right to do so even if some thought he shouldn't have spoken out. I was personally disgusted with the criticisms made by Jindall, Rubio, and Christie. Christie certainly aided and abetted Obama when he needed it most! They could have kept their criticisms to themselves and done constructive work to restore the Republican Party. They have done more harm and brought more ridicule to Republicans than the remarks by Romney.

For the past two elections we have chosen candidates who tried to be the nice guy and acted as if they had no backbone. It was tantamount to sending an innocent child into a den of rattlesnakes and telling him to be nice and the snake won't bite him. We all knew Obama and his campaign organizers have no regard for the truth and will do whatever it takes to win. If I understand the ones criticizing Romney now, they are suggesting that we lie down and let the Democrats stomp us while we act nice and trusting. That game doesn't appeal to me...I'm ready to fight fire with fire, and if Obama has to face the truth about himself so be it. I won't support apologists for Republicans, but I will support someone who is willing to be strong and stand up for what is right for the United States. They must also be willing to treat as serpents the Democrats who act like rattle snakes, and that includes Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi!

The GOP needs to support conservative ideas, but they are undermined by 30 years of Teacher Union inspired brainwashing of generations of our children (who are becoming voters).
People lost much of their pride and shame, so they do look for a hand out instead of looking to earn their own stuff.

We have been fighting Santa Clause government from Democrats for the better part of 60 years and that is very difficult to compete with when you are not offering to give things away.

Conservatives and the GOP are in a tough bind, and these voters may vote their handouts as the country sinks like a rock.

Our new immigrants unlike the old ones go through no Ellis Island and have this great big social system to attach to and that is bad. We are not getting talent, we are getting dependents. These dependents and their extended families all want their dole and vote accordingly. Another part of what kills the GOP/
