I read this book in the 80's. It perfectly described our nation then. It does so even more now.

Lasch is one of my favorite writers, even though he was a left-winger. His books Revolt of the Elites and Women and the Common Life are also excellent- the last work especially so. It's the most brilliant intellectual assault on feminism I have ever read.
