McCartney says skip the turkey on Thanksgiving
AFP - Former Beatle Paul McCartney, a long-time vegetarian, has joined a campaign by animal rights group PETA to encourage Americans to celebrate a turkey-free Thanksgiving this week.
The British rock legend, sporting a gray shirt with an "eat no turkey" design, is featured on the website of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
"This Thanksgiving, Paul McCartney is urging you to say 'no, thanks' to turkey and 'yes' to a delicious, cruelty-free holiday meal," the group says.
More than 45 million turkeys will make their way onto American dinner tables on Thursday, and another 22 million are consumed at Christmas, according to PETA.
Each year, US presidents grant a pardon to one or two turkeys -- a tradition that only dates back to president George Bush in 1989, even though Thanksgiving was first celebrated by pilgrims who fled religious persecution in England.

Warning: Graphic Image Below:
Sorry if this upsets some of you, but this is what an ABORTION does to a child. There are even more horrible photos...but I won't post them now.
For humankind...ANY human...to elevate the lives of ANIMALS while simultaneously defending the actions that kill thousands of children every year is DISGUSTING AND HYPOCRITICAL.
I’ve had 10, but never went that big. Your gang must love turkey!
Hope you and yours have the best holiday and your turkey is tender and tasty!
OK PAUL! I’ll have a nice big T bone istead! You happy now?
Just got in from buying a 20 lb turkey, 4 chickens and 10 lbs of bacon. Good eats!
Sounds like a good name for a pig. Is he related to Mrs Paul
fish sticks? ;-)
Bugger off McCartney!
He?s just bitter because he lost a bundle in a divorce to a chick with one drumstick
Me, I’m having a roasted peg leg turkey dancin’ like a puppet as a centerpiece.
Don't need that kind of misery so pass the turkey drumstick and gravy. I prefer to be jolly.

Good grief will the insanity ever end?
I filled a small chest freezer with 3 whole turkeys and 7 breasts.
buy them on sale during holidays.
.75/lb whole and .98/lb breast is mighty cheap dog food for my fat-free-diet yorkie. Although it does seem a bit odd to fix an 8 pound breast for a 5 pound dog. (freeze half when I fix it.
With the potatos and carrots I grow myself, ( a third of each per serving), I can feed him for about $5-6/month.
And I have a turkey dinner once a month for myself when I fix it.
I’m cooking two birds on Thanksgiving. I’ll name one of them Paul.
I saw him around that same period. Used the PETA slide show time to run to the beer concession stand.
“I Wanna Hold Your Ham”?
“And PETA?, they are responsible for the deaths of more animals than any research facility or all of them combined. “
That’s right. Every time they make a statement like this, I’m tempted to eat another steak.
I think that I’ll go pick up a Turducken and be triple damned.
No wonder he looks like he's 90 years old.
ahh I could never understand turducken. The whole point of having duck is the crispy skin and turducken ruins it. Better to just serve 3 individually roasted birds!
” No wonder he looks like he’s 90 years old. “
Become vegetarian for long life! Problem is, you won’t actually live a long life but you’ll look like as if you did.
