Government wants all Americans between 15-64 to take HIV test

WASHINGTON — There's a new push to make testing for the AIDS virus as common as cholesterol checks.

Americans ages 15 to 64 should get an HIV test at least once — not just people considered at high risk for the virus, an independent panel that sets screening guidelines proposed Monday.

The draft guidelines from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force are the latest recommendations that aim to make HIV screening simply a routine part of a check-up, something a doctor can order with as little fuss as a cholesterol test or a mammogram. Since 2006, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also has pushed for widespread, routine HIV screening.

Yet not nearly enough people have heeded that call: Of the more than 1.1 million Americans living with HIV, nearly 1 in 5 — almost 240,000 people — don't know it. Not only is their own health at risk without treatment, they could unwittingly be spreading the virus to others.

The updated guidelines will bring this long-simmering issue before doctors and their patients again — emphasizing that public health experts agree on how important it is to test even people who don't think they're at risk, because they could be.

"It allows you to say, 'This is a recommended test that we believe everybody should have. We're not singling you out in any way,'" said task force member Dr. Douglas Owens of Stanford University and the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System.

And if finalized, the task force guidelines could extend the number of people eligible for an HIV screening without a copay in their doctor's office, as part of free preventive care under the Obama administration's health care law.

This may be so the homosexuals can get FREE testing whenever they need it...like monthly. Sort of a male equalizer to free birth control for the women. We’ll never figure that one out...just test us all because as you said, “we’re all homosexuals now”.

With IPAB firmly entrenched, how long before those with AIDS, so far incurable, are given pain pills and told to go back to the AIDS camp?

Obamacare will guarantee that nobody gets refused membership in a health plan for pre-existing conditions, but getting treatment will be another story, since the budget is limited.

1. this is about making HIV a “normal population issue.” and thus get more money.

2. this is also about the fact that homosexuals and drug users LIE. Their lives are based on lies. Those in hospitals need to be protected from their lies.

Follow the money.

I would bet that the largest manufacturer of tests or their CEO is a major Democrat or contributor.

Indeed.

FOLLOW THE MONEY.

You all do realize that every pregnant woman is tested now. If you get free prenatal care at a clinic, you will be tested. If you have insurance, you will be tested. You might not even know that this is one of the many blood screens you will be undergoing, but they are all tested.

It’s actually a good thing, because if someone is positive, there are ways to save the child from being positive.

When was the last time a 15 year old had a cholesterol check at a regular check-up?

My sons have had physical exams every year for sports, and we go to a militant liberal Jewish pediatrician. (ok, not so militant) They have never had a blood test of any kind. We are offered flu shots, but we have always refused. Our pediatrician is the kind of person who is active in pushing for changes that need to be implemented and yet nothing is ever pushed on me or my children. I am pretty sure she would scoff at this massive waste of money.

Here’s the whole point of this:

“’It can sometimes be awkward to ask your doctor for an HIV test,’ Mermin said — the reason that making it routine during any health care encounter could help.”

Anything to make the homos feel better and less “singled out.”

“Actually, in DC among Blacks between 15 and 55, the HIV infection rate is about 1 in 10.”

I find that statistic very difficult to believe. If the incidence was that high, simple geometric progression would have the rate close to 100% in no time.

From 2012:
http://articles.washingtonpost.com/2012-06-20/national/35459333_1_hiv-infection-infection-rate-care-within-three-months
Infection rates of women in Wards 7 and 8 was over 12%

From 2008:

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/health/july-dec08/aidsdc_08-05.html
Five percent of the entire population of DC is HIV positive.

From 2009:
http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1885601,00.html
Seven percent of all Black males in DC are HIV positive.

The large majority of those infected are between the ages of 15 and 55, giving that cohort a higher percentage than the general population.
