For two weeks since Election Day, we have been working to ensure every vote is counted accurately and fairly. We have made progress towards that goal, thanks to the dedication of our supporters and their unrelenting efforts to protect the integrity of the democratic process. While many questions remain unanswered, today I am announcing that I will take no further action to contest the outcome of this election.
While there are certainly still inaccuracies in the results, and the actions of the St. Lucie County and Palm Beach County Supervisors of Elections rightly raise questions in my mind and for many voters, after much analysis and this past weekend's recount in St. Lucie County, our legal team does not believe there are enough over-counted, undercounted or fraudulent votes to change the outcome of the election.
While a contest of the election results might have changed the vote totals, we do not have evidence that the outcome would change. Given the extremely high evidentiary hurdles involved in a successful challenge, I will not ask my generous supporters to help fund a drawn-out, expensive legal effort with little chance of success. Therefore, we will not contest the certification or challenge the seating of Congressman-elect Murphy.
Serving the people in the House of Representatives has been among the highest honors of my life, but this seat does not belong to me, or for that matter, to any individual. It belongs to the people.
I want to congratulate my opponent, Patrick Murphy, as the new Congressman from the 18th Congressional District. I pray he will serve his constituents with honor and integrity, and put the interests of our nation before his own.
I must thank my wife Angela, and my daughters Aubrey and Austen for their support, patience, understanding and most of all, love. These are three of the toughest women I know. They have sent me off to defend our nation overseas at war, and to Capitol Hill to serve our nation in the House of Representatives. They have all handled the challenges of these last few months, and the last many years, with amazing grace. I know they will be by my side for whatever is our next chapter.
I want to thank my congressional and campaign staff for their service, and most importantly, I want to thank all of our tremendous supporters who provided their time and money to power our campaign. I am humbled by the dedication and perseverance of our supporters, and their commitment to a free and prosperous America. I cannot thank them enough for all they have done for our campaign, but most importantly, what they have done, and will continue to do for our country. None of us should let the outcome discourage us. We should only redouble our resolve.
Above all, I want to thank God for his blessings, and for blessing me with the opportunity to serve.
Only God knows what is in store for each of us. I have dedicated my life to serving this nation, and the results of this election will not change my purpose. Just as I did in the deserts of Iraq and Afghanistan, just as I did on Capitol Hill, I will continue to fight for our Republic.
Our nation will not overcome our challenges overnight, and the road ahead for each one of us will not be easy. But this nation would never have become that shining beacon of light if our founders had chosen the easy path 236 years ago. We all must proudly continue their legacy.
For the protection and preservation of our life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, I shall remain steadfast and loyal. God bless you and God bless these United States of America
God bless you! Thank you for your service to our country!
A great man.
Never forget “DIRTY GERTY”.
So can we finally shelve the "we lost because of vote fraud" conspiracies? West lost because more people voted for the other guy. Sad, but true. His district became more Democrat after redistricting and those additional Democrats predictably voted for a liberal to represent them. It sucks that there are so many idiots in this country voting for Democrats, but there it is. We did not lose the November elections because of vote fraud. Every moment good people cling to that fantasy is an additional day we are not honing our message and election strategy going forward.
I’m sorry to hear this, but there’s not much else he can do. The county Dems blatantly sabotaged this every step of the way.
I wish West could be head of the RNC. We need not only a conservative, but a smart, aggressive conservative.
Do you see the blue districts compared to the red districts in this country? Obviously, the large population centers vote Democrat. Why don’t you believe that Congressman West lost because of vote fraud? That obviously supports your argument that “more people voted for the other guy,” like illegals, the dead, children, and vacant lots, along with I’m sure many ballots with West’s name marked off not being counted and probably being thrown away.
What is so hard to see that shadow operators are moving faster, drawing this country down harder?
I liked the idea being floated around about electing Allen West as Speaker of the House. Third in line to the Presidency. That's a leadership position that cries out for a man of Col. West's strength, character, and conservatism.
Every moment good people cling to that fantasy is an additional day we are not honing our message and election strategy going forward.
....ahhhh, you have no idea what you are talking about or are a tiresome troll. There is evidence of massive fraud and will be more every election since the Stalinists won’t give up any power without a dishonest fight. Have you skipped all the links to hard evidence in other threads? you’re quite the waste of bandwidth at this point...
I don’t buy your “lets move on” regarding voter fraud. I bet there were plenty of illegals voting and people who cast mulitiple ballots to win this election for BHO and Murphy. Voter fraud is easy to perpetrate and hard to prove after the election is over and votes are counted.
With the method they use trusting the county officials to count the votes is so easy to manipulate. Just have voter role sheets ready to go and enough ballots to match and voila more Obama votes! I am an election judge and the votes are counted as people vote not after the fact. Poll lists must correspond with the number on the machine. It would be difficult to cheat.
By not entering into a long drawn out contest he cannot win, he should have the ability to make a comeback in 2014. Much different turnout dynamic in an off year election.
I salute you, Sir.
The BFN and his commie-cronies are sticking it to us.
Sounds like overwhelming the system includes elections.
Sudden destruction shall come upon them, saith the Lord.
It's not some shadowy conspiracy that is bringing this country to its knees, its the predictable outcome of people buying into the big government social welfare state.
Why do you need a conspiracy to explain things? Just like Europe, Americans have bought into socialism and it is destroying us. The Democrats don't need massive vote fraud operations to get people to vote for more nanny state "security" - people are doing that all by themselves just like they have elsewhere. It especially helps Democrats that we are importing massive numbers of poor Hispanic immigrants who vote for the socialist party's back home and have for all of modern memory. These people vote the same here as they do at home, no different than blue state folks escaping to red states for work - and then voting the same damn way as they did in the failed states they came from.
Why dont you believe that Congressman West lost because of vote fraud?
Based on West's statement conceding the election, he and his team don't believe he lost because of vote fraud either.
Again, here is the relevant part of the statement:
our legal team does not believe there are enough over-counted, undercounted or fraudulent votes to change the outcome of the election.
Why would you continue insisting it was vote fraud when the candidate himself doesn't think that is why he lost?
The country is becoming a “nation of children”.
He should run against Scott in the Fla gov GOP primary, since Scott has decided to start sucking up to Queen Sebelius
Yes. But maybe this is an opportunity for Col. West to achieve some greater purpose, free of congressional restraints.
We so pray!
While I agree overall, I think we do have some real vote fraud problems and voter integrity issues to deal with. We see these situations in several big cities where the party observers are forced out for a few hours. We see precincts with murals and posters with the Democratic candidate on the wall, and workers wearing Obama hats. With early voting and absentee and less than desirable voter ID laws, it is more than certain that individuals are voting multiple times. All of these things together do have an impact.
In looking at 2012, however, I don’t feel these things are the primary reason the results came out the way they did. We have a woefully ill-informed public, an opposition with better campaign management, and a party apparatus on our side that is not only behind the times with modern campaign strategies, but very poor at message management and media coordination. This also puts aside the wall of opposition we have to overcome in popular media...news, entertainment and online media. It is a real mess, and vote integrity was a distant problem from these.
So basically, you have a hunch. That's it. No evidence, just a hunch. Coincidentally, the same hunch Democrats get when they lose elections and blame their defeats on voter fraud.
We did not get our butts kicked this past election day because of voter fraud. Are there some instances of it each election cycle? Sure. Do we want to investigate and keep the process clean? Absolutely. Did we get our clocks cleaned because of voter fraud? Not.Even.Close. We lost because more and more Americans are dependent and are voting for the party that offers them more free stuff. We are going to have to face that demographics are getting away from us and soon we may not even be able to win places like Texas. Every minute spent blaming voter fraud is a wasted minute that could be used facing up to the real problems we face and coming up with a strategy to at least try to turn things around.
Every moment good people cling to that fantasy is an additional day we are not honing our message and election strategy going forward.
I'm not sure anymore whether people actually want to move forward. It's so much more fun to pour endless effort into the conspiracy theories.
I don’t think there’s much question that there was massive fraud. Otherwise the Dem authorities wouldn’t have dragged their feet like they did, or played all those other games.
I think he withdrew for the reasons he gives. His lawyers concluded that there was no chance to win. He might have his own observors, but the election officials, supervisors, and judges in the courts are probably all corrupt, so the effort would be wasted.
As we have seen over the years, who is more corrupt than a Florida Judge in one of those liberal districts? And that’s where it would all end up—under the gavel of a crooked judge.

Gertrude Walker is a sorry excuse for Supervisor of Elections, I wonder if she'll make an unexpected recovery from whatever her problem was now that Allen West has made this announcement?
Thanks for keeping up on this and posting your threads from the beginning.
Unlike many, this real man fought and now steps aside with honor.
I admire Congressman West and I know that we have not seen the last of him.
Allen West, thank you for your brave and honorable service to God and Country.
What was the final net gain from the partial recount?
Hope he comes back.
I don’t think anyone will keep Allen West down for long.
As for ‘ole Gerty, she’s been exposed as a fraud and a probable crook.
That means she’ll be invited to the White House and offered a Cabinet position or Ambassadorship. After being paraded around the Capitol on the shoulders of the Congressional Black Caucus, of course.
What do you mean "becoming"?
It was disallowed because it wasn’t submitted on time for certification. It showed an approximate gain of 260 votes for Murphy, but it was so tainted with anomalies and glitches it was highly suspect in terms of accuracy.
Seen on a New Hampshire bumper sticker:
“Our ancestors would be shooting by now.”
There’s a part of the whole fraud claim I am puzzled by, perhaps you can help.
Why, if the Ds can perpetuate this massive fraud, is the GOP still in control of the House?
I agree but I think it is a combination of both demographics and cheating just for insurance.
Secondly, is the State investigating the possibility of actual criminal activity in the County, where the suspicious count took place? I can understand the Congressman's decision, based upon the information his lawyers obtained. But if there were a couple of hundred fraudulent votes, or deliberately miscounted votes, the State ought to investigate fully. That is another question, altogether.
The state is investigating the St. Lucie County SoE office and has said a full report will be released sometime after Thanksgiving.
Voter fraud is possible, but the voter impersonation kind that might be prevented by photo ID laws is quite difficult to coordinate in large numbers.
You have to have either a large number of people who pretend to be one other person, or a smaller number of people who vote numerous times. The logistics of a large-scale operation are difficult to keep hidden.
Not that the media is interested in finding it.
You’re right! It already ‘is’!
What a beautiful statement. I don’t believe any democrat losing an election could ever utter such powerful yet humble words.
There was a lot of election fraud, but there always is.
Longbow’s point is valid. What has changed more than other factors is that the Leftists have found a way to leverage technology and money to move every last taker to the polls, and that is a real danger.
We used to benefit from the fact the takers were lazy and unmotivated, and stayed home election day, so we got soft. Clearly, we need to recognize, and adapt to, this new state of affairs.
One part of the populace, voting expressly to use government to take the earned income of another part is not a recipe for a long lasting democracy.
That said, voter fraud is a big problem, but what will Obama do about it? We need to work on message and delivery for now.
“We are going to have to face that demographics are getting away from us and soon we may not even be able to win places like Texas. Every minute spent blaming voter fraud is a wasted minute that could be used facing up to the real problems we face and coming up with a strategy to at least try to turn things around.”
But your comment begs the question:
Just what “strategies” might have the possibility of “turning things around”?
Obviously the WORST possible direction we could go in would be to “try to make the party more appealing to Hispanics” and other minorites (we’re going to be bombarded by this tack again and again and again and again from the “mainstream conservative commentators” in the media). Doing so will become an out-and-out recipe for Republican disaster in 2014 and 2016. Not only will we NOT get any significant increase in “the Hispanic vote”, but the abandonment of conservative principles will instead cause conservatives to just stay home. If this happens, we will lose by greater margins in ‘14 and ‘16 than we did this time around.
And you’re absolutely right about Texas (and I’ve been writing about this problem here on FR for a while now) — sooner or later, demographics (70-75% of all births in Texas hospitals are to Hispanic women, legal and illegal) will cause Texas to slowly “tip to Tejas”, and become first a “battleground” state for an election cycle or two. Then it will topple over to the blue side.
Once Texas is gone, Republicans will no longer have a numerical chance at winning presidential elections. Sadly, I see this day coming — the question is not _if_ it arrives, but rather _when_ it becomes reality. The electoral college that has protected conservatism for so long, is eventually going to turn against us.
So, what could actually change things?
Point 1: We can leverage our power (as conservatives first and Republicans second) to regain the presidency, at least for a while longer. To do so, we must concentrate our efforts at winning the Euro vote to our side, as increasing numbers of Euro-Americans (even liberal ones), become openly hostile to national policies which seem to have jettisoned our cultural heritage in favor of an onslaught of non-Euro newcomers. If this sounds like “group identity politics”, well, that’s what it is. Every OTHER ethnic/racial group in America sees themselves _as_ a group. American Euros face two choices: keep pretending this reality doesn’t affect us (and keep on losing), or understand that reality for what it is, adopt to it (within reason), and perhaps turn our chances around, if by this point they can even be turned around.
Point 2: Eventually, demographic changes in the country are going to make it impossible for Republicans (or a new party that may very well replace them) win the White House or exercise anything more than token influence in a growing number of state governments.
When that time comes, conservatives/Republicans will be relegated (on the national level) to the role they currently play in states like Massachusetts or Illinois. Republicans may still win in both states, but not in enough numbers to have an influence in the policies by which those states are governed. Conservatives/Republicans will still have a vote (at the national level) — what they WON’T have are “enough votes”. Big difference.
With this on the long-distance horizon, and with the ever-increasing possibility that at some point in the future the United States faces an economic and social catastrophe that will make the Great Depression look small by comparison, perhaps the only course of action might be for the red states to enter into some kind of “compact” amongst themselves, to better prepare their populations for survival when the DC ship of state goes down.
Think of the Titanic disaster. As the bow filled with water, it sank beneath the waterline, pulling the stern section into the air. Eventually, the opposing forces of the sinking bow vs. the rising stern became so great, that the ship literally “parted at the seams”, after which the bow sank away while the stern settled back (before it, too, went under).
What the red states need to start doing is to somehow build a “watertight bulkhead” so that when the “split” comes, the blue states can sink away while the stern keeps the waters out and floats on its own. They can’t do this on their own as individual states. They have to find some way to “bind themselves together” outside of their relationship to Washington and a federal government that may be doomed to either failure or a pathway towards socialism or even outright despotism.
Wish I could be more optimistic.
But that’s how I see it.
We either “build the bulkhead”, or we go down with the rest of them.
Except that scenario is impossible to achieve. Pipe dream.
Face it folks the country is over. The Democrats realized they could not win elections on ideas with the electorate as it stood in the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s, so they decided to change the electorate. With uncontrolled and more liberal immigration from the third world, we will become a third world hell hole in the next ten years.
Check out the immigration bill of 1990 signed by GHWBush and then GWB restored food stamps for legal immigrants. GOP was complicit in this change just as much as any Dem. Our kids have been sold down the river. If your kid is of European descent, then they can look forward to a future of being relegated to the bottom of the barrel.
All of this did not have to happen. Immigration has destroyed our country. May Teddy Kennedy rot in hell.
Take a look at the comments on Drudge if you want to see just how far gone our Country really is. The comments on Breitbart are not much better.
Disgusting behavior, even from the GOPe.
And yes, there was massive voter fraud. Many of the votes that would have to be accepted were cast illegally, so a recount may not have given him victory.
Obama retook the WH on the basis of 500,000 votes in 5 key swing states.
This is a paltry number easily achieved by well-managed fraud. For example, it is statistically impossible that hundreds of precincts in PA and OH did not show a single (1) vote for Romney. It is also statistically impossible that many precincts in those key states showed close to 100% turnout, when the average in that state was closer to 60%. There is not one precinct in any state in this country where 100% of the voters are registered to one party.
In a fair election, WEST WOULD HAVE WON. To our everlasting disgrace, the election process has been completely corrupted. Why is it so hard for Americans to see this?
