California recently achieved a new milestone as it is now the leader of all fifty states in poverty. In a recent finding by the federal Census Bureau, California has the most people living in poverty with 23.5% of the population living in poverty, stealing the last-place spot for the most impoverished state from Mississippi.

The new measure of poverty, called the “Supplemental Poverty Measure”, incorporates a wide variety of factors such as the peoples’ ability to buy basic services and goods, welfare payments and the costs of food, gasoline and other essentials.

They can make it appear to work by begging for and getting money from the federal government.

If they could keep what they are sending to the Federal government they wouldn't have to. High incomes in California pay big taxes. Think Silicon Valley + Hollywood + trade hub with Asia.

That’s what it looks like around my school. The litter is incredible, and it’s the people in the community. The kids just drop stuff on the floor when they’re done with it. Wrappers, apple cores, straws... just throw it on the floor. They even spit on the floor.

It’s pretty hard. That first year I thought I’d died and gone to Hell. But eventually you learn tricks to keep them in line, and it can be fun showing them classic movies like Logan’s Run, Truman Show, Groundhog Day, Forrest Gump... stories with morals, you know? Then we use the movies for skills like characterization, symbolism, theme, and write papers on them. I do feel like I make a tiny bit of difference, and there are always several kids each year who are really sweet, and smart, and you want to help them get out of that place, you know?

We’ll find out soon. 400,000 Californians are supposed to run out of unemployment on 1 January. If the Feds bail them out, then we have socialism.
