Oh, there is far more on Mars than rocks and sand. Far, far more.

I was going to post something profoundly funny and sarcastic. But I see other amateur comedians have already done that. Geez... maybe they have found something really cool? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

The only life on Mars is the microbes Curiosity brought with it..
But.... some microbes may have escaped from previous missions as well..

sometime they might find some of this life and deem it indigenous.. after its “evolved”..

Well, that`s certainly the theory of some, but so far...nothing yet beyond sand and rocks.

NASA JPL mission scientists have, again, rightly decided that nothing needs to be announced until further work is done

Translation: We are requesting more money.

It would be nice if it is big news, but NASA has a history of hyping things, only to be disproved later. They are very good at PR.

We await word of germs on Mars, it will be the biggest thing ever. As we deny that a growing baby in the womb is life.

There's plenty of other threads going on that address your concern, no sense in trying to hijack this one.........

The NASA Curiosity Mission is funded for two more years so they don’t get more money from studying the results for a few more weeks.

If you hate science and scientists, you can twist them rushing to an announcement, waiting to do an announcement, or them just getting out of bed in the morning into something nefarious.

We paid for this remote controlled Tonka toy so I think they should be publishing every damned thing.

The only information that should be kept from the public is security issues. Secrets like CIA agent’s true identity, the kenyan’s birth certificate and his latest boyfriend’s name.

Actually I thought it was pretty big news that they found that radiation levels on the ground are similar to what our low earth orbiting experience.

Agreed! It means that it is feasible for men to land there, work for brief periods there, and build the first habitats for the eventual colonization, conquest, taming of a new world, and raping of the crust all the way down to the Moho! ;)

Who’s to say the ‘microbes’ aren’t from Earth? 65 million years ago, give or take a million or so, a huge something hit the Earth. It could have thrown up tons of dust and rock into space that drifted through space another million years or two or three or four, then finally came to rest on Mars, carrying ‘life’ from here...................

You’re throwin millions around like you can afford them...
I don’t trust anything older than 20 years and am suspicious of anything younger than that..

Democrats just love to change history..

He used “preclude” correctly. He was stating that the discovery does not necessarily mean anything, thus is doesn’t preclude. Conclude wouldn’t work.

You’re right about “perchlorate” though.

Who's to say Mars and Earth didn't have intersecting elliptical orbits in the past?

A few close fly bys here and there, maybe a bump or two.

Sharing atmospheres or a few tons of matter here and there isn't too far fetched.
