The Nasty GOP? For some conservatives, the labels “nasty” and “mean” are well earned.

Would we on the right be so casual about a term that mocked yarmulkes or crucifixes?

I don't notice a lot of people wearing yarmulkes or crucifixes trying to kill civilization.

Ragheads on the other hand tend to hate civilization and are doing their level best to blow it up, burn it down, kill all proponents and among other less charming trait's.

I can see this person has a problem with reality being spoken.

No- we should never mention that people are selling their vote for "gimmies". That would be mean. The fact that these people are little more then prostitutes is mean.

Poor baby. Perhaps he should go be a democrat since they are never mean.

Signed

The person who has been called a racist-bigoted-sexest-homophobe just for thinking that a gay black female is just as capable of being a bad person as straight white male.

You get nasty and mean when you witness your culture circling the drain. It is good to be old. I’m too old to survive the crunch but I can sure go out in a blaze of glory...and I intend to keep score as long as I can.

There is an unseen force in play that will not allow traditional values to win. You can find even worse nastiness on the left, but it won’t register with the mob no matter the strategy or the approach. The population must suffer profoundly before they might possibly recognize the truth. Only Pain drives people back to God.

This assclown Geraghty is basically saying that Republicans need to lie better, or, at least, refrain from speaking the truth. Whatever. It all comes down to the same thing - - the parasites outnumber the hosts; the eaters outnumber the producers; the moochers reelected their president and America is dead - - the Democrats won. Who cares? The parasitic scum who comprise the Democrat party base won’t get anything from me, lol.

Who is this clown? What a shlock piece of writing.

To some people, homosexuality is a sin and an abomination to God. Their viewpoints on this are as important to me as those who would have us all f*** anything we want anytime we want. In fact, their viewpoints are at least grounded in 1000s of years of moral and religious beliefs, the latter which receive little acknowledgment by people like Garrety.

In terms of the 47%, yes Romney despises them individually, so he’s unelectable. Most conservatives do not. However, most do despise the culture, the education system, voting blocs and the politicians who have chained us all to the publicly funded benefits of the 47%. It’s a thin distinction but important for this Garrety guy to acknowledge the underlying unsustainability of a nation that tolerates a 47% voting bloc with its mouth on the public tit. Individually they will hate us when we pull them away from it.

Ragheads? Krauts? Japs? They all tried, and in the case of the former are presently trying, to kill me and my family. I will call them whatever I want without regard to how they feel about it. When we finally defeat them, I’ll go back to calling them Sir and Ma’am.

Women, old people and others wanting taxpayers to pay for their medical care: They need to take a math class. See unsustainability comment above. I do not want to pay for anyone’s medical care except my own and my family’s. It’s wrong to take from me to do it.

Rush Limbaugh. Who cares about that fat bastard? If the libs think Rush Limbaugh is my leader, they are terribly mistaken. I follow the Founding Fathers, not some radio jock. Bad bit of assumption there Garrety.

It’s the media, stupid. Most people are totally uninformed of statements made by the left, but each and every sentence of republicans are magnified, twisted and used to bludgeon the whole party. Lets look at Chris Matthews’ and Michael Moore’s statements celebrating Sandy the superstorm. I bet less than 5 % of the country knows how crass these people are. If any republican said that, even an unknown town councilman across the country, we’d all be branded with the charge of insensitivity and uncaring.

As Peter Schweizer reported in his piece “Don’t listen to the liberals, Right-wingers really are nicer people, latest research shows,” studies have borne out what I’ve always known: Liberals are cheap, ungenerous, uncharitable, unloving, self-centered, envious, greedy and covetous. They’re less likely than conservatives to devote time to ailing or needy loved ones, and they even hug their children less. And this reflects one reason why they support big government: they assuage their consciences by outsourcing their charity. I’ll add to this that they’re lustful, prideful, wrathful, often slothful and, if Michael Moore is any indication, gluttonous as well. In a word, they are the Seven Deadly Sins incarnate.

Precisely.

Geraghty is an echo chamber for the elitist GOP establishment geniuses who gave the party Dole, McCain, and Romney simply because they seemed so... safe. (And anyway, it was their turn.)

Romney, instead of running scared from the Democrat "mainstream" newsrooms, should have amplified his "47%" remark and then offered proof after proof of how Democrats politicians go on vote-buying sprees with the hard-earned tax dollars of people who actually work for a living. Gingrich was definitely on the right track when he labeled Ubama "the food stamp president". (You can always tell you are on the right track whenever you hit a nerve with the rats and see the horror on the faces of politically correct squishes like Geraghty.)

I am old enough to remember when this country was far superior in many ways to what it is now. Yes — contrary to all ideas about human progress, that’s the fact. It wasn’t perfect, but it was better, especially in the grade of human being who lived here.

There were stupid things said and done during this campaign. They weren’t things I would have said or done, so I don’t feel any burden to defend them. I do reserve the right, though, to be angry and heartsick when I see the government at every level and an increasingly ignorant and shiftless populace send this country down the drain. There is not a day that passes that I don’t think — and worry — about what kind of country my children will have to live in.

I’ll go against the grain here and agree with much of what Geharty is saying, with the caveat that without the leftist media out there covering for them, the Democrats would be exposed as the meanest, nastiest bunch of scoundrels this side of the Bolsheviks.

But . . . alas the leftist media is still in control of the dominant narratives in this country and it doesn’t help anything for conservatives to feed into the notion that we “hate” women, gays, blacks, Latinos, etc. It’s not true, at least for me. I truly believe that conservative ideas and policies will result in better lives for nearly everyone (except maybe Democratic politicians, union bosses and welfare cheats). I don’t see why we can’t express our ideas in the public realm in ways that reflect that.

Jim Geraghty claims that Obama ran up “huge margins” with women and young people.

Only half true.

Romney got a majority of white women, white young people, and married women.

The Democrats and the MSM have spent the last year pounding the theme of racial division.

The result?

Obama was reelected.

But Romney got the highest percentage (61%) of white voters in modern times.

That percentage will go up in 2016, and so will white voter participation.

So the Democrats want a political race war?

Believe me, dudes, you just got it.

Pathetic. We must cater to the sensitivities of the “lady-parts” crowd in our every expression of opinion — lest we be tarred and feathered (figuratively-speaking only, thus far, at least) as “mean,” “contemptuous,” etc.

By the way, does this Geraghty fellow even have a clue about how Islam really works? I suggest that he needs to read “Atlas Shrugs” blog daily for three months and then write a piece about what he has learned.

May I suggest that the reality of 80-85% of voting US Muslims going for Obama is not because Ann Coulter said “ragheads.” It has to do with agendas.

I just don't buy it.

Those (few) nominal, temporary members of the 47% who would have preferred to be fully self sufficient probably did not find Romney's comment insulting or threatening, because THEY DON"T IDENTIFY WITH THE 47%. They probably heard Romney and said "Exactly right!"

As for Rush's comments about Fluke, they are taken out of context here. As usual. In the same little rant Rush referred to himself and his audience as pimps and johns. Were those intended as serious insults? No? So "slut" was dead serious, but those others insults were just jokes? Hokay. I have had it with people who work so hard to misunderstand Limbaugh's humor. Geraghty happens to be one of my least favorite pundits out there, but I’ll join you in agreeing that he actually has a point with all of his examples.

It is fine IMO to point out that Dem policies are intended to buy votes. To say that that’s why a majority of the electorate or large majorities of racial subgroups voted for Obama rather than Romney is indeed needlessly insulting those whose votes the GOP needs to win elections. It isn’t actually accurate about a number of Obama voters (e.g., any of the liberals in my family) and in Romney’s case it was a weak attempt to shift blame rather than accept the failings of his candidacy.

Rush does have a huge blind spot re: women, where he often and needlessly insults them and betrays his poor understanding of their priorities and motivations. His crude Fluke insults were a huge gift to Obama, as they reinforced suspicions that many women have about the GOP. Likewise, Akin and Mourdock.

Likewise for the idiot circulating the ‘Magic Negro’ parody at a conservative conference—and the idiot actually thought he should represent Republicans nationally?

I’m more than happy to see the argument made publicly that Islam is not simply a harmless ‘great religion’ and that its confluence with a primitive totalitarian political system means we must deal with it differently than such. But the needless use of the term ‘raghead’ immediately turns off those who might be willing to listen to the argument were it not stated so insultingly.

Finally, if I were gay and I happened upon one of too many threads here at FR discussing gay issues, for example, I would see too many posts from those vilely insulting all gays to want to consider further affinities in political philosophy.

It is IMO stupid (and unChristian) for our side to so often callously dismiss or outright insult groups whose votes we hope and need to attract at election time.

.

To his credit, Rush quickly apologized and said he regretted speaking about Fluke in the highly personalized terms of the Left. The issue never was, or never should have been, her sex life (or even the largely neglected side issue that some women need birth-control medications for health reasons). The issue was government power.

And there he is subtly, but damnably, WRONG. In a Chestertonian sense, he has a perfect circle, but his circle is not large enough.

Under our system, power comes from the consent of the governed. And if someone convinces the governed that what they want is other people's money (largesse), then those people will cede power to the government in exchange for the other people's money (and partly as a balm for a rejected conscience, and to escape temporal effects of their dysfunction which might force them to pay heed to their conscience).

So Rush *WAS* right: we need to re-instill shame in order that the lust and greed of the masses does not trade away our freedom for their desires.

Cheers!

What you can't explain is how obviously sarcastic it was ~

The claim was that receiving funds from a specific source makes you into a door mat for that source ~ that you will worship the source like a god.

Obviously there's more to humanity than simple economic motivation ~ food in ~ worship ~ food out ~ don't worship.

Seriously, don't you think about what you do with this Marxian claptrap?

Thans to a fuller understanding of what's going on in polling (Pew research's May report ~ 9% responding) and a survey of how many of those responding say they are gay (about 3.54% ~ but 91% of people called didn't respond ~ which means that it's more like .3% or 1/11 that number) ~ we now know that the gay component of the total electorate is NEGLIGIBLE!!!!

That doesn't necessarily mean it's OK to insult the gay people ~ but it does mean it really isn't necessary to even think about them ~

I’ll take your point about not needing to insult gays as fair enough, but it is more than the actual population of gays that is and would be put off by a political party that is insulting to them.

(And no, that doesn’t mean we have to change our political positions for them—just be respectful in our disagreements.)

At the core of the misguided articles by people like Geraghty (whose columns I usually like) is the assumption that if the GOP just plays nice with people who won’t vote them no matter how nice the Pubbies are, they’ll start voting for the GOP in record numbers. What does Geraghty want...the GOP to turn into Dem lite? We’ll never beat the Dems in pandering. The parasites (oh my, isn’t that a nasty, divisive statement) will always go for the genuine champions of pandering, the Dem Party. Might as well speak the truth to the parasites and retain a little honor.
