Only 40 percent of U.S. Democrats believe in the right of self defense, at least when it comes to the Jewish state of Israel, according to a new poll released this week.
A new CNN poll shows that only "four in ten Democrats believe that Israel's actions in Gaza are justified."
Although 57 percent of U.S. citizens agree that Israel's military response in Gaza against Hamas rocket attacks is justified, only 40 percent of Democrats polled side with Israel.
Most Republicans supported Israel with a whopping 74 percent, while 59 percent of independents also supported Israel.

This is not going to persuade Jews. Republicans have GOT to stop trying to win the Jewish vote. It’s not going to happen. Obama is more hostile to Israel than any modern US president and US Jews still voted for him overwhelmingly - twice. And they will vote overwhelmingly for the next Democrat presidential candidate. Outside of Israel, the great majority of Jews vote for secular progressive party’s. They’ve been doing this for all of modern history. There is a reason so many in Europe associated Jews with communism.
Liberals are so disgusting that they have less core values than Willard Mitt Romney, and that is saying something, and it sure isn’t good. Frankly, it’s sad when one side of the political spectrum doesn’t get the fact that they sympathize with an apartheid regime that would gladly trample them under their feet. It never ceases to amaze me how ignorant or blatantly hypocritical the left is for sympathizing with an ideology that treats women badly, treats Jews and Christians pretty much like farm animals, and treats homosexuals so badly it makes one wonder why there isn’t mass outrage at the Palestinians for the homosexuals killed by angry mobs or executions, much less the Iranian president who claims there are “no homosexuals in Iran”, then when Chris Stevens, who based on plenty of surrounding details, was likely a discrete homosexual, I see more condolence over his death from the religious right than I do from the left, who seems to care little more than trying to argue some alternate history than Obama blaming the obscure video, which he Clinton and Susan Rice did do.
Either way, my only warning to the left is, “I warned you, and when they come for you, frankly, you shouldn’t have wasted your time selling out your fellow Americans and Democracy campaigners in Israel to these Savages, because like mad dogs, they will tear you up to, might as well take a stand with your fellow Americans in supporting the tolerance and freedom that constitutes Israel in contrast to the awful self-destructive culture that constitutes a lot of the Middle East.

Conservatives such as myself have argued for Israel for years. Frankly, I find the whole thing disappointing, given that I am not even Jewish, I have had a whole lot better concern by all I have written and said regarding Israel. But the sad story is that there will be some professed “Christians” and some professed “Jews” who will be open enemies to God in the last days.
Another way of saying this is that there are Ruth Grubers and Oscar Schindlers (a Jew and a non-Jew who both worked to save people from the Holocaust) But there will also be those, both Christian and Jew, who try to throw examples of Democracy in a savage world (Israel) under the bus for the sake of appeasing the radical Islam, effectively giving a win to the ideologies of Osama bin Laden, Yasir Arafat, et al.

The other thing they should have asked FIRST, of course, is “Do you think Hamas was justified launching rockets into Israel?”
The Israeli contributions to science and technology are far beyond their numbers. The Palestinian contributions in those areas are underwhelming to say the least. If the Palestinians disappeared off the face of the earth tomorrow, like many violent, sociopathic mideast societies, nobody would miss them.

Not surprising. This is far from the first poll to reveal a wide gap between the two major parties on support for Israel in general.
Recall the scene at the 'Rat convention just a couple of months ago when the "Jerusalem is the capital of Israel" language in the platform had be arbitrarily approved by a questionable voice vote over a vociferous dissent from the gallery.
It's clear that lies, fraud, degradation of American values, and immorality in multiple dimensions have found an accommodating home in today's Democratic Party.
And that same poisonous mentality is often reflected in the "even-handed" MSM coverage of the current Israel-Hamas conflict, not to mention the Middle East policy of the current Administration.
No wonder why 85% of Americans abroad in Israel voted for Romney in the past election.

Many believe that Jews act this way because of past persecution. They are afraid of the prevailing majority religion in virtually all countries and vote for strong central governments that they believe can protect them. In this country Jews are a big part of far left organizations like the ACLU, People for the American Way, etc.

Nothing we do on FR makes a difference to most Jews. They don't read FreeRepublic. 1/3 to 40% of American of Jews lost on the left. Another 1/3 are moderates, but are are urbanites subject to the same malignant cultural influences destroying America. They live in the left world. They don't like the taxes and parts of the culture but ignorance or doublethink prevents them from putting two and two together.
Over time, the right-leaning Jewish vote will increase perhaps a few percent each cycle. Orthodox Jews are increasing in number. However, their large families also mean that many are dependent on welfare to some degree. Russian and Middle Eastern Jews are clustered in NY and CA, so their votes make little difference in presidential election.
Republicans don't generally support Israel because of the Jewish vote. They do so because it is the right thing to do and because most Americans support Israel.
I agree, it’s a rediculous notion that the Jewish vote can be won. However, it’s rediculous how much the state of Israel goes in the way of tolerance while so much of the Middle East hates them, and the Western powers don’t seem to care about how liberal and tolerant they are. It’s hypocritical and disgusting.

Especially for religious Jews, only problem is, too many people don’t seem to know about the Doctors’ Plots from the Soviet Union, in which numerous doctors, most of whom were Jewish, were executed for violating dictated medical standards, including administering synthetic insulin as treatment for diabetes, which is the accepted modern standard, and an alleged attempt to poison Stalin and other Communist Party members. A lot of suspicion is there that there was anti-semitic influences involved, as plenty of the doctors’ actions were medically “right” for the patients, and the sources leading to the conviction of an attempted assasination were sketchy witness testimonies at best. One thing for sure is that a totalitarian regime runs on paranoia so bad, your religion, ethnicity could be the next target for genocide when something goes wrong.

It's really not that complicated. Usually people say that when they don't want to admit the all too common association between European Jewry and Communism. Again, it wasn't an accident that it was so easy for the Nazi's to persuade much of the public that the Jews were Bolsheviks. Even Winston Churchill spoke about the particular connection between International Jewry and Marxism. For whatever reason a disturbing percentage of Jews gravitate to socialist politics. The reasons are obviously varied, but I'd argue it is because their history of persecution has driven them, misguidedly, to support strong central government and all efforts to weaken the power of the dominant religion in any society that live in. Perhaps this habit of theirs will fade with time, but I am not terribly confident about that.
I don’t really give a damn what Democrats think. they are my enemy. I do not have any friends that are Democrats. And I am not interested in becoming friends with them, nor will I waste my time trying to convert them to Conservatism.

That is one thing that pushes them to liberalism and socialism. But communism is another matter.
The Doctor’s Plot was a pretext for a death march of Jews to Birobaizhan. Fortunately, Stalin died first. Most people also don’t know of the antisemitism of the post-war Communist Polish government.
One of the main reasons that I don’t regularly post on the Israel threads anymore is because I am afraid that I will say something that can’t be taken back. My thoughts usually start with F* the Democrats and the “Palestinians” and proceed from there.
