Egypt's President Mursi assumes sweeping powers

Egypt's President Mohammed Mursi has issued a declaration banning challenges to his decrees, laws and decisions.

The declaration also says no court can dissolve the constituent assembly, which is drawing up a new constitution.

President Mursi also sacked the chief prosecutor and ordered the re-trial of people accused of attacking protesters when ex-President Mubarak held office.

Egyptian opposition leader Mohammed ElBaradei accused Mr Mursi of acting like a "new pharaoh".

Mr ElBaradei said the new declaration effectively placed the president above the law.

"Morsi today usurped all state powers and appointed himself Egypt's new pharaoh. A major blow to the revolution that could have dire consequences," the Nobel Peace Prize winner wrote on his Twitter account.

So we traded a tyrant who listened to us and was relatively helpful to Israel, for a tyrant who is itching for a conflict with Israel.

Howz that Arab spring working for us?

Arab Spring turning into “Totalitarian Winter”.

Arab Spring was always about that.

If you think those young people in Egypt were "fighting for democracy" as all my retarded liberal friends told me, it looks like it's not true. It was always about putting the Muslim Brotherhood in power.

Obama is jealous that it’s not yet that easy for him to do the same here in the US. But he’s working on it incrementally, one czar and one executive order and one end-run around Congress at a time.

a declaration banning challenges to his decrees, laws and decisions...

If it weren't so incredibly tragic, it would be hilarious. They say Mein Kampf is one of the most popular books in the middle-east, but I'd hazard to guess that most people there have never heard of The Enabling Acts, nor care. Virulent jew hatred was the only take-home message they got.

I am certain that Hussein applauds this, including the coming trouble with Israel. He hates Israel, won’t go there, and now when Egypt stirs up more trouble for Israel, Hussein will have a proxy in Morsi doing the things he wishes he could do regarding Israel but as of yet dares not.

In the Third World, it's always about putting Your Gang in power, so they can give their supporters the sweet government jobs and steal from the Other Guys.

Something like big-city politics in the US.

The Muslims, what will be left of them, will be sweeping the streets and cleaning the latrines of Beijing and Mumbai in a few short years.

Or they'll all be living next door to you and I... making bombs, killing kids. It's Obamaland!

Yehuda, here is the payoff to morsi. The US will not protest nor oppose this imposition of a dictatorship on the Egyptian people. The cleansing of Christians will be completed with US complicity by its silence. morsi has received his pound of flesh.

And if Egypt attacks Israel alone (Jordan and Syria have their own problems now). The conflict will be short and Egypt will lose. Perhaps Israel should retake Gaza and go all the way to the East side of the Nile.

Knowing the world as well as I do and having been in the PRC (China) and worked very closely with many Indian folks of all sorts.....both the PRC & India will make short shrift of the “Muslim Menace” down the road apiece!!! Both nations have strong, century old, dislikes for Muslims. The new sheriff’s of the world will soon be, the PRC, India, Brazil, Russia and the nations of Latin, Central, South America.

Chinese Uighurs join Jihadis in Syria

Chinese Muslim separatists from the northwest region of Xinjiang are battling Syrian government forces alongside al-Qaeda and other extremist groups, an official Chinese newspaper reported on Monday. Radicals among China’s ethnic Turkic Uighur minority have been travelling to Syria since May to join the fighting on trips organized by groups opposed to Beijing’s rule over Xinjiang, the Global Times reported Monday.

Citing unidentified Chinese anti-terrorism authorities, it said the groups were funding their activities through drug and gun trafficking, kidnapping and robbery, and providing training for “separatists, criminals and terrorists” who had fled Xinjiang.

“After receiving orders from al Qaeda, terrorists from China came to Syria to meet with jihadists already on the ground before forming groups on the front lines,” the report quoted an unidentified official as saying.

Chinese better get busy. In a few months these Uighur Muslims will be back in China, fully trained and with combat experience.
