Today Facebook will send its largest email blast to date, informing all 1 billion users that its proposing to modify the sites governance structure and remove the ability for users to vote on changes. Currently if proposed changes get over 7,000 comments all users may vote on them, and if over 30 percent vote for or against the changes, their decision is binding.
Facebook wants to replace this system with a focus on soliciting high-quality feedback through new features. This would prevent votes from being triggered by copy and pasted comments drummed up by fringe privacy activists like Europe Vs Facebooks Max Schrems.

I de-activated my account soon after America took its national cyanide pill a couple weeks ago.
My guess is Facebook is deep in bed with Obamugabe and those of his ilk.
I’m about ready to dump FB.
Same here.

I’m just happy I never signed on.
I did on November 7th.
same. shut mine down after the “election”
Did you read the comments at the end of the article? I’s no wonder we have the Government we “voted” for. What’s that quote? You get the government you deserve. These idiots wouldn’t recognize suppression if it bit em in the A$$.
I don’t understand the vitriol against this by posters on this thread. Isn’t this pretty much the same way FreeRepublic operates? I don’t recall ever being asked to vote on how FR operates.
The owners of a site have the right to run it as they want, right?
Is this stupid or what??? They are going to do whatever they want — votes be damned.
I defriended a number of people. I was tired of the pro Obama stupidity.
“The owners of a site have the right to run it as they want, right?”
The owners “didn’t build” these sites. Also, the rights to make changes to these sites was redistributed as of 11/6/12. /s
*Sarc* They can't do that, it's a Democracy, everyone should rally against Facebook and Unionize them. Where's the SEIU when you need them? We need to start FUIU (Facebook User Internationa Union).../sarc
At this point, I’m just wondering who FB will be sold to, and if it will be a merger, or just an acquisition.
I figure it will either be bought up by Google, be the swan song of Microsoft, or get snapped up by some ultra leveraged derivatives trader who on paper has more trillions of dollars than the GDP of planet Earth.
