A natural gas leak at a Springfield strip club late this afternoon has left two-and-a-half blocks of houses and stores in shambles, authorities said.
The “whole city block went up due to a gas explosion,” Springfield police Sgt. John Delaney said.

Didn’t this just happen in Indiana? They are condemning 37 homes there and this looks bigger.
I read that the reason the city in “The Simpsons” is name Springfield is most states have a city by that name.

Investigators in the Indianapolis explosion that killed two people and decimated a neighborhood believe natural gas was involved and are focusing on appliances as they search for a cause, a city official said Tuesday.

I live up the road about five miles from the explosion. Big natural gas smell reported this afternoon. They felt they had capped it and were actually getting ready to lift the evacuation.
The fact that the firemen and cops were able to evacuate the area about an hour prior to the explosion is where there are so few injuries. I just saw some pictures from a cop friend and the entire strip club building is gone. Just leveled.
Gonna be a nice investigation on this one.
Your are not going to believe this, I may know person that is support staff. Haven’t spoken to them in years. Need to contact someone who is tight with them to make sure they are aok....
Th NY Genovese Family has a stake in the strip clubs in the neighborhood. Maybe it was “God forbid you should have an accident!”

The explosion I referred to was a house in Indianapolis...about a week ago.

In my experience, most nat gas explosions are due to criminal activity or inept work by union pipeline contractors.
