Posting an attachment responding to a Freedom of Information Act request yesterday on the Clean Up ATF website forum, Special Agent Vince Cefalu related how badges hed turned in while on medical disability reassignment in 2006 were discovered to be intentionally defaced when he resumed his law enforcement duties the next year.
The face of each badge exhibit multiple toolmarks produced by the scraping action of a hand tool, ATFs Firearms and Toolmark Section Chief wrote in a September 27, 2007 laboratory report. One possible toolmark source could be the blade of a standard screwdriver.
Cefalu is the whistleblower who was recently granted a temporary stay following an unceremonious termination in a Dennys parking lot. He first came to media attention when he was assigned to a do nothing job as retaliation for protesting against illegal wiretaps.
Cefalu can identify witnesses for when he relinquished the badges in October, 2006 to the Resident Agent in Charge in the presence of OCDETF [Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force] coordinator and my wife.
Both were in pristine condition when I turned them in to RAC, he wrote to ATF Assistant Director Richard E. Chase, further citing conflicting stories hed been given by his chain of command, who first told him the credentials had been destroyed, that new ones would be ordered, that sensitive items may not be accounted for and need not be reported missing, and that they had been receipted and were no longer my responsibility.
Additionally, the Protective Programs branch speculated to Cefalu that perhaps they were damaged during shipping.

People who don’t have the IQ to comprehend the simple language of the 2nd Amendment acting like children? Who would’ve thought?
they treated the Reese family very badly and it shocked me, even after everything elsethey have done. They beggared them, for NOTHING.
why did we pay these idiots...?
Amen Brother, They screwed those people deliberately and for nothing.
There is a very simple, very bureaucratic, reason for what the ATF hierarchy is doing. They are sending a very clear message to every other ATF agent who is thinking of blowing the whistle on them that doing so would be a very bad move, professionally, personally, and for their families.
I wish it would be otherwise, but I honestly don't think it is.

You are absolutely right. The message is loud and clear. I think Cefalu was hoping this election would turn out much differently and now he doesn’t really have much hope for justice whatsoever, but he is still fighting and he is very much in danger if he continues.
My rsponse was in response to the FReeper who felt the Reese family got a bad deal. I agreed with him,.
It had nothing to do with the mutilation of this man’s badge.
You are 100% correct in that. They did this as a warning to others, and it was done at a higher ranking than whoever it is that keeps the badges.
One of the Supervisors did this.
If I were Vince Savulo I would keelp the mutilated badge and wear it as a badge of honor.
I consider the “whistleblowers” to be Patriots.
We’re in the middle of a revolution. It’s that simple.
