Rifles existed in this country long before the power grid.

If anything, it sounds like a really good argument for the decentralization of power generation, and the greater adoption of auxiliary generators for homes and apartment complexes.

The problem is not that people are allowed to have weapons. The problem is that un-american sub-cultures have been allowed to fester within our borders, and our border security has been purposely diminished by the scum for whom the invaders vote.

"At least with chainlink, anyone inside would be seen. With the new easily scaled walls, there’s no way to see if anyone is inside."

Most substations are both isolated and unmanned, so there is no one there to "see" anyone inside anyway. Motion-sensor triggered cameras linked back to "headquarters" fix the "problem". And those should be there whether there is an opaque fence or not (think "kids").

Regarding 25, I suspect it's all intentional....Create this big national security problem, divide the united, so corrupt big gov can fix it....Which means "Fix you" by taking away your rights and more punitive big gov control.

The problem is that an un-American subculture has been allowed to fester in the White House. Fixed it for ya.

If you bought all your guns in a gun shop, then the Feds have a record of what you have. THUS, go to a private person selling guns and buy some that the Feds do not know about. Then, when they come demanding them, and you give them up to stay out of jail, you will at least have something to defend your family. That is what I have done. Just in case.

“There are ways that a very few number of actors with very rudimentary equipment could take down large portions of our grid,” FERC Chairman Jon Wellinghoff said today at a Bloomberg Government breakfast in Washington. “I don’t think we have the level of physical security we need.”

Looks like Bloomy is working another angle for gun control.

Stopping potential terrorists at the borders is the last thing that will ever occur to them.

Like I said on fbook..if I desired to take out large portions of the grid..neither rifles nor HE would be the tools of choice.

You could take down the whole power grid with helium filled Mylar balloons. They are a million ways to take down the infrastructure and stop society in its tracks.

The key is not to let our enemies into the country. The leftist radicals and their immigration policies have opened the door and now it is too late. They have let in the Muslims and allowed Mexico to invade. We are going to experience some real pain with the loss of America values and culture. I see the erosion of our country everyday and it is occurring at an alarming rate.

To: technically right; All

There are lots of rifles that can do it at calibers much more common than .50 BMG.

There are many ways it can be done with homemade items.

Rifles are not the problem. There is a study that was done under President Bush (W) that said we needed ways to replace these custom built transformers quickly. It is about a two year wait to have one built now, and they are built overseas.

A design was developed for a three part modular transformer that could replace 95% of the large custom jobs. Each module could be transported in a standard container by semi-truck and train.

I do not know if they ever built a prototype.

If we were wasting money on the stimulus, some of it should have gone for 20 of these systems. They would likely cost less than 20 million, total, but I guess Solyndra was considered far more important than insuring that we could get the power grid up quickly after a massive solar flare, EMP attack, or physical attack such as the one described.
