It’s time to rebuild America (Rahm barf: superior Dem "ideas" won, not demographics)
Washington Post ^ | November 23, 2012 | Rahm Emanuel

Posted on 11/24/2012 7:41:43 AM PST by Seizethecarp

Demographics alone are not destiny. There is nothing in this year’s election returns that guarantees Democrats a permanent majority in the years to come. President Obama and the Democratic Party earned the support of key groups — young people, single women, Latinos, African Americans, auto workers in the Rust Belt and millions of other middle-class Americans — because of our ideas.

So, instead of resting on false assurances of underlying demographic advantages, the Democratic Party must follow through on our No. 1 priority, which the president set when he took office and reemphasized throughout this campaign: It is time to come home and rebuild America.

In Chicago, our initiative of “Building a New Chicago” adopts a similar view, with improvements to areas as varied as education and physical infrastructure.

While infrastructure improvements have been neglected on a federal level for decades, Chicago is making one of the nation’s largest coordinated investments, putting 30,000 residents to work over the next three years improving our roads, rails and runways; repairing our aged water system; and increasing access to gigabit-speed broadband. We are paying for these critical improvements through a combination of reforms, efficiencies and direct user fees, as well as creating the nation’s first city-level public-private infrastructure bank. Democrats should champion these kinds of innovative financing tools at a national level.

Last time I looked, Chicago and Illinois were broke and driving business into nearby states and other countries, not to mention that “murder capital” business...

education and physical infrastructure.

RATS have been spewing about this for the past 50 years or more. It should've been perfected by now.

Next up - Commiecare™. We get to hear about it until the end of time.

OK. So, stop talking and start rebuilding! But when Step One is always, “Tear down the successful while building up the lazy”, I think that you are doomed to fail.

Its like coming into a neighborhood to revitalize it and and you start by bulldozing the nice houses on the street and leaving the crack houses standing.

Rahm plans to use "public money" taken from taxpayers as taxes to complete these infrastructure upgrades.

But that is eaxctly BACKWARDS. To do this you have to first RE-INDUSTRIALIZE America. (something Obama is against, because his goal is the opposite of success for America). Only by re-industrializing, employing, trading, building, etc can the needed taxes be generated to do what he wants without further bankrupting the public treasury. In short, we have to return to CAPITALISM even though democrats have made it into a dirty word. CAPITALISM is the economic system that built the America that (fool) Obama wants to destroy.

But mostly because we give them free shit: phones, housing, food, childcare, transportation, cash, etc.

“(O)ther middle-class Americans,” Rahm?

After the GM bailout reduced base pay for new auto workers to save the fat pensions of the old UAW retirees, all of the foregoing are LOWER-class Americans living off of welfare and/or subsidies, Barry's primary demographic.

Rahm is right that this is not a race demographic but it is an economic demographic that aligns predominantly with race and love of Marxist oriented European-style socialism.

Of Rohm, the Obamadork, Nancy the Ignorant s**t, and Whore House Harry got together and thought for a googol of years, they still wouldn’t be able to come up with an idea.

Ideas are for folks with brains.

I remember the feeling in my gut as the deems won control of both houses in 2006.

The only thing stopping them from total world "Chicago-styled" domination is us.

My main problem with all of this ‘investment in infrastructure’ is that the people who want to spearhead it are the same people who were supposed to be in charge of maintaining the infrastructure all along. We as taxpayers, ostensibly have been paying taxes to keep the roads, bridges and aged water systems in good repair. These dolts, especially those in liberal bastions, siphon off the lions share of these tax revenues in order to fund liberal policies. Now, after decades of mis-management of these assets, they are throwing the responsibilty for renewing the infrastructure back at the feet of taxpayers, both current and future. And all in the name of jobs. I just can’t stand to see them get away with it.

Children, welfare queens, illegals, american Africans, union thugs, and a few assorted radical liberal/communists thrown in for good measure.

There is nothing in this year’s election returns that guarantees Democrats a permanent majority in the years to come...

...oh yes there are...its called the 47% who do not monetarily support the US.

If 47% is the"accepted" number, it has to be a lot higher, which was proven by this election. The "producers" were overwhelmed by the "takers" and its likely that this will be the "norm" until the crash.

D's are the party of welfare, and free stuff..

...the 47% don't want to hear all the self sufficiency, hard work, self sacrifice, and living with honor krap...they want FREE STUFF, THEY WANT IT NOW, & they ain't about to give it up.

"One man one vote" has sunk us in Federal elections. We will never get out from under socialism until we can tie a valid vote to a positive monetary contribution to the US treasury...

....or of course, the tax system changes so that EVERY HEALTHY AMERICAN pays something.

They are counting on those of us in harness to keep pulling. I anticipate a growing number of us `Boxers' (the workhorse in Animal Farm, sold for glue) wandering out of the Obama stable and to the north forty to graze.

Frankly, I’m tired of all the infrastructure and road work in Boise. Can we get a year off without flaggers and orange cones, please?

The line that scares me is this one:

By embracing the president’s “all of the above” strategy, Democrats can own the policies that will begin to make the United States energy-independent in the next four years, a goal that has eluded the past eight presidents.

Rahm is telling the Democrats to hurry up and stake out the credit for the coming privately-funded, privately-researched, privately-executed energy boom.
