I hope you were just being facetious. Rich people don't want everyone else to be poor, because there would be no one to buy their products.
Rich people want other people to be rich enough to buy more of their products.

True, but not free enough to be innovative and rewarded for a world changing invention that would compete with their products. Therefore, they want to “let us” have enough to keep enriching them, but they want to create barriers to our entering their elite little circle jerks.
That is the point of income taxes vs consumption taxes. Income is a tool to build FUTURE wealth, while taxing it makes that tool LESS EFFECTIVE.
