After a year in which Republicans had precious little for which to be thankful, perhaps it's not surprising that party leaders and the faithful spent a good chunk of the long Thanksgiving weekend obsessing instead over 2016 – specifically the possibility of a presidential run by former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

(((YAWN))) GOP is dead.
I don’t think he is electable. If he was I would vote for him but he is never going to be president of this country. Just another RINO that the GOP-E wants so they can keep themselves in power, even if it means losing the next election and wiping America the free forever from the face of the earth. No more Bushes.
I’m voting for Obama.
Well, that would certainly end any suspense about who would win in 2016 - Hillary, Michelle, you name ‘em.
Another RINO. No thanks.
Stay OUT da BUSHES !!! RINO saboteurs and Shamnesty Pimps.
Third Party anyone?
Jeb Bush proved years ago that he is without courage or character: He refused to save the life of Terri Schiavo.
Haven’t had an orgasm yet today? Here’s something to cream over!! Dole, McCain, Romney, Bush III. There, now you’re alright!
Will Karl Rove run the campaign?
This is just plain silly. Obama is still blaming Bush, and people are suggesting another Bush becoming president? Can you imagine the campaign? Two brothers and a father being president would be creepy.
No whammies, NO whammies, NO WHAMMIES... STOP!
Stop on a whammy. Wah wah wah wuuuuuuuh.
Bush 1 gave us KKKlinton. Bush 2 gave us Obama. I will not vote for a 3rd.
Hard to believe, but I’m even MORE eager to NOT voite for Jeb than I was for hair=helmet Romney.
Republicans = new Whigs, buh-bye...! (smiling)
You (GOPe) can nominate a RINO if you like, but if you do this conservative stays home.
Bush in '88,Perot in '92,(I apologize for that one...),Dole in '96,Bush in '00,Bush in '04,McCain in '08,and Romney in '12...
What buzz ?
As a doornail.
As if things aren’t funky enough for us repubs, now this.
Let me see, we voted for George H. W. Bush because we thought he was a continuation of Ronald Reagan. We voted for George W. Bush because we thought he would be a little more conservative than his father. Now they are going to want us to vote for Jed Bush because we think ....................something or another.
Well, then, steel yourself for all the GOPe flying monkeys who will sign on to FreeRepublic to browbeat you and tell you that you will be therefore voting for the DemocRAT.
Actually a legitimate SECOND Party would be fine with me.
Yep, that’s right. You haven’t voted for a Conservative for president.
Sad isn’t it.
The last time the Republicans won a presidential election without a Bush on the ticket was 1972.
Me - one for the working family middle class. Upper and Lower class are already represented.
I believe Jeb Bush is a decent man.
I also believe Jeb Bush is a RINO.
RINOs make me wretch.
If you want me permanently OUT of the Republican party, go ahead and make my day and nominate him.
I will no longer tolerate RINOs, whom I consider to be only two IQ points higher than liberals/progressives/cretins.
The GOP leadership is bound and determined to kill the republican party!
...but I forgot to register!
....and wouldn't it figure that was the LAST time Massachusetts went for the Republican!
THAT’S even MORE frightening!
He has already lost.
No more bushshiite.
NO more Bushes.
I’m supporting Jim Robinson for president.
Anyone want to help?
This Texan is sick of rino bushes........
No God please... no more...
Not giving you grief here. It’s your right to vote. It’s also your right not to vote. I really cherish my votes for Reagan. You’re doing your best to live up to his ideals today, and that’s what’s important.
Good for you...
It was 1928 when the Republicans last won the White House without someone named Nixon or Bush on that presidential ticket.
Maybe we can find a conservative named Nixon to place on the ticket in 2016.
Some people hate him, some people like him with reservations and most would probably be fine with him, although he’s not a very exciting candidate and I doubt that he could gather enough enthusiasm to get out the vote (depending on who the Dems run in 2016, of course).
But whatever your opinion, let’s discuss this rationally and stop screaming stupidities like “keep outta da bushes” and going into full Bush derangement syndrome. We need to get together a few strong candidates for 2016 and not act as if we were caught by surprise, as happened the last time. The reason we got such a lousy candidate (Romney), who had already bought the candidacy from the GOP-e, was that no group had started preparing other candidates and getting support.
And we don’t need people like certain super-stars, who keep us hanging and never even let us know whether they plan to run or not until it’s too late (and then decide not to).
So we don’t need any prima donnas, and we don’t need any “sure things” (like Romney, who had actually been running for the candidacy for 4-6 years already). But we also don’t need the last-minute candidates we seemed to have, none of whom had an organization or effective publicity outreach. Like it or not, you have to have that.
So some rational discussion would be nice. Then pick a candidate and work for him or her.
By 2016, we have to have some viable possibilities. Jeb Bush could be one of them. And if you don’t like him, who are some others you could suggest?
Ha—me too. I can’t believe I missed my chances with Reagan. (I may be the poster child for raising the voting age.)
No! Hell no! No way! No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!
The Plan is back on schedule. Obama messed up Hillary’s Turn, Romney almost messed up Jeb’s Turn - now all is right with the elite’s world again. :)
That’s right. I held my nose voting for McCain, felt good about voting for Romney after the first debate but never again will I vote for a rino.
The GOP will not listen to the conservitives so therefore I will not support them anylonger. If my nonvote elects a demorat than so be it. Don’t care what my like minded believers say, I won’t do it again.
Maybe, just maybe when the GOP loses more and more members/votes they will get the message. Short of lower GOP turnout, I don’t know how else to get the message accross to them. They no longer support my social and fiscal conservitive views.
