A North Texas mother is accusing a Hurst police officer of using excessive force while arresting her 17-year-old son Andrew Rodriguez, CBS DFW reports. A video of the incident shot by Rodriguez's friend has gone viral.
Rodriguez was questioned along with two others at Bellaire Park because police thought they looked suspicious, CBS DFW reports. The officer on scene got the names of the three teenagers and discovered Rodriguez had an open warrant. Rodriguez's mother, Kelly Pope, said the warrant was from a ticket her son had received four years ago for trespassing on school

No sign of the "civil rights community" demanding this black cop be fired.
Apparently another appearance of the rare white Hispanic.
I don’t care if a cop is purple with pink poka-dots, the best way NOT to get your @$$ kicked is to comply with his instructions, say “Yes, sir” and “No, sir” and take any complaints you have to his supervisor or your lawyer AFTER the fact.
They admit the kid was resisting arrest
Ala George Zimmerman, a white Hispanic.
The kid at some point began to comply. See the video? Cop went overboard, even his bosses say so.
After a little research i am sure they will find it’s all in the union contract under “perks.”
I only say “Yes, sir” and “No, sir” to people older than me. Most cops also go by that “rule”. In fact, even though I’m not crazy about cops, I’ll say most are fairly respectable. But when one goes overboard, he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
When I say I’m not crazy about cops, it’s ones like this that make me feel this way. There are way too many who are on power trips and way too many who have no idea the restraints of the constitution. Maybe I should say “former” restraints.
Why we can’t allow laws that prohibit videotaping of these guys.
While vast majority of police are great, there are bad apples.
“I dont care if a cop is purple with pink poka-dots, the best way NOT to get your @$$ kicked is to comply with his instructions, say Yes, sir and No, sir and take any complaints you have to his supervisor or your lawyer AFTER the fact.”.....
Let’s start with a few axioms.
First of all, police have to wrestle with dumbasses, often drunk ones, a lot. After a time, this gets to be a drag. So when cops go for a take down, they want passivity. If you resist, the cops escalate a lot, and quickly.
Second, if a backup officer arrives on scene, and the first officer has not yet subdued someone he’s wrestling with, the second officer will attack hard. He is not going to stand around while the first officer is possibly injured.
Third, officers are trained to be like predators. If they stop you, and you try to run or walk away, they will be on you “like a duck on a June bug”.
Talking on a phone when the officer tells you to stop is asking for it. The police don’t know who you are talking to, but it could be anyone from a drug dealer, to calling in “back up” from a street gang or flash mob.
In any event, once that officer knew he had an outstanding warrant, the game was over. As soon as he hears that, he is focused on detention and arrest. And he will punch through anything that gets in the way of that.
you say these officers are bad apples ?????????????
Same here. But I do remember when a couple cops stopped me and some friends, who were walking around the neighborhood one night, to question what we were doing. I couldn't help myself and made up some story that was obviously manufactured to see what they would do. One asked me if he looked stupid to me. I politely said, "Yes sir". He did a double take and his partner chuckled and told him that he had asked... I'm glad they were decent folks and these days I regret the youthful exercise. I have found most cops to be decent and not apt to go bonkers on you without reason. I don't know if I could be the same way if I had to deal with a lot of the folks they have to deal with.
News Mom, ya punk ass 17 yo ain’t gonna be mak’n it to his 21st birthday.
A little taser-adjustment would have been deserved.
Wow an arrest warrant for a 13 year old trespassing. Who was the dumbass who decided that the kid gets a ticket and then the arrest warrant for a 13 year old? Common sense is lost in government at all levels.
