GOP lawmakers float immigration reform plan
The Washington Times ^ | Nov. 27, 2012 | Stephen Dinan

Saying they want to get the conversation on immigration reform started, top Senate Republicans on Tuesday introduced a version of the so-called “Dream Act” to grant young illegal immigrants legal status in the US, though not giving them a special path to citizenship.

GOP Sens. Jon Kyl and Kay Bailey Hutchison said they have introduced a bill that would reward those who take college classes or join the military.

“We have got to get this ball rolling,” said Mr. Kyl, an Arizona Republican who is retiring this year. “We have to have a discussion that is sensible, that is calm.”

Their bill would be more limited than the proposals Democrats have sought, which would have been more generous with a path to citizenship and broader in the number of immigrants it would apply to. But Ms. Hutchison, Texas Republican, said she and Mr. Kyl have tried to accommodate some Democratic lawmakers’ concerns.

The legislation would reward students with higher status the further along they are in pursuing their education. Those who earn a four-year college degree or complete military service could apply for a permanent visa that wouldn’t put them on a new path to citizenship, but would allow them to join existing lines by getting married to a U.S. citizen or finding another opportunity to adjust their status.

A US Foreign Legion might not be a bad idea then. A path to legality for those willing to fight and serve.

RE “Not to a reader of plain English.”

So your ‘plain’ dictionary is missing half the words?

25 million new Democrat voters

That’s the goal of any Amnesty. Then they WILL turn us into slaves of the government as the democrats/statists/socialists will have total power.

By all means! Let us burden the dwindling numbers of hard-working taxpayers even more! Let us curtail and ration care to our elderly! Let us gut our Social Security system for those who have payed income taxes from their wages all their working lives! Let us raise taxes on the very movers of our economy and force them to bankrupt themselves!

Let us do all these things so we can win the favor and votes of millions of usurpers who are here by criminal means. Let’s abandon and deprive our own so the Republicans can compete with the Communist/Marxist party(who,by the way, have already won this once great nation the way they always do; by playing on the stupidity of the voter.)

So go ahead; pay for free education for foreign nationals at the expense of your own children. Pay up in fines, taxes and penalties so they can have free heathcare and foodstamps while they’re doing it. Don’t forget that they have a country of origin that they don’t have the guts to fight the elements that make it unlikeable to them. So don’t think they’re here because they respect our founding principles, dim Republicans! They don’t identify themselves as Americans any more than our native genre who hate the founding principles of what used to be America.

The only thing Republicans are succeeding in doing in breaking their pledges and “evolving” in their Conservative principles is to show themselves for the cowards they are. They are showing just how weak they really have become and it’s pathetic. What’s even more pathetic is that becoming Dem-Lites won’t win them anything; least of all respect.

Translation:

“We have got to get this amnesty rolling, said Mr. Kyl, an Arizona Leftist who is retiring this year. We have to have a sellout of our nation that sounds sensible, that is still a nation-killer population-bomb.”

Kyl is a traitor from way back.

“Any “immigration reform” plan that does not begin with sealing off the borders is a non-starter for me.”

Precisely. Moles have dug holes so the basement is flooding. The landlord says pumping it out is the solution, while ignoring the holes, until the water rises again.

It is contrary to good, common sense. Furthermore, it is bad public policy and worse law. On the other hand, this would ensure the destruction of the “Me too!” party.

Go ahead Republicrats: Make our day.

I do love how these bastards wait until they’re on the way out to betray us across the board.

Obviously, was never one of us...

Maybe they should have to agree to never apply for US citizenship.

I'm not sure if that is a sarcastic remark.

1) Such a condition in a bill would have to get through congress, where it could be changed to "... have to agree to never apply for US citizenship unless....or until....," or it could be deleted entirely. Or the courts could interpret that to mean that they agreed to that at one time, but changed their minds. Once the amnesty juggernaut starts rolling, it will be hard to stop, no matter what it says.

2) The courts do invent new "rights" for illegals, e. g. Plyler v Doe: we have to pay for their education. A perfect opportunity for a new "right" would be citizenship. Obama could have 1 or 2 chances to put more lunatics on the SCOTUS.

3) New congresscritters and EOs in the future. Even if the same crowd stays in power in congress, at best they seem indifferent to the notion of importing leftists voters. At worst, maybe they want to have a more "manageable" electorate.

They shouldn't be able to find a job with a degree in Reconquista Studies, but look at who is POTUS. I just saw a bumper sticker on a car that cut me off: "OBAMANOS!" (O + vamonos).

The kindest answer would be that they are looking at the next election and no further (although I don't think amnesty would help the GOP in the next election).

Maybe the truth is that they really want the left to become more powerful, because being in the minority is what they know how to do.

And now we have a new one:

LINK: During his six terms in the U.S. House, Rep. Flake has co-sponsored five amnesties, including being the chief original sponsor with Rep. Gutierrez for the infamous STRIVE amnesty.

RE :”Maybe they should have to agree to never apply for US citizenship.

I'm not sure if that is a sarcastic remark.”

At this point unless something dramatically changes I am assuming that Rs will either :
1)Cave to Dems, or
2)Totally humiliate themselves after saying ‘hell no’ by caving, then lose yet another election.

Republicans need to focus on immigration bills that only allow naturalization and legalization to those who are likely to be against the welfare state. But how do you do that? College graduates with advanced degrees mostly voted for O.

I saw an post here today that had a link in the source to a list of the richest and poorest states.
The Best- and Worst-Run States in America
( 24/7 Wall St. via Yahoo! News | 11/27/12 | Posted on November 27, 2012)

deep inside that was a link to:
America’s Richest States( September 20, 2012, 24/7 wall Street)

And lib Maryland is listed as the #1 richest state in the country and it passed a wave of tax increases, tuition discounts at state colleges for illegals and same sex marriage. It is very rich AND very liberal thanks to Uncle Sam. So liberals are not just the 47% who pay no Fed income taxes that Romney said he doesn't care about (he is stupid)
