Former presidential nominee John McCain is urging Republicans to confine their support for the unborn to rhetoric but abandon thoughts of enacting new legislation.
Appearing on Fox News Sunday over the weekend, the Arizona senator said the GOP needs a bigger tent to be successful in presidential elections, and part of that means dropping social issues important to conservatives.
Echoing the talking point that men should not weigh in on a female issue McCain said, I dont think anybody like me then pointed to himself before changing gears abruptly. I can state my position on abortion, but other than that, leave the issue alone, when we are in the kind of economic situation and, frankly, national security situation were in.

The GOP needs leaders to win presidential elections. McCain, you are not a leader and never will be. Go back to kissing Harry Reid’s @ss.
Little Meghan must be giving Daddy hell and we sure do want a tent big enough to include her, now don’t we!
McCain and shallow people like him think we can just ignore abortion, and tend to “more important” issues.
They are wrong. Legal abortion means that both the Declaration and Constitution are DEAD, and the country will consequently collapse.
I am all for bigger tents. However, we need to not have our center pole be the abortion issue - many poeple, especially women, do not vote for a candidate based on how they view abortion. IT’S THE ECONOMY, STUPID! Make the economy/fiscal responsibility the center pole and you get more votes. IMO, Romeny should have been pounding this into the heads of every American. Every single ad should have been on fiscal responsibility and how the govt is so out of touch with how households are managed. Until the right does that, they will continue to lose to a bunch of idiots who say what needs to be said to win an election.
A pity McStain wasn’t left behind in Hanoi.
“State your position, then leave the issue alone”.
How ‘bout REPRESENTING your constituents—ya know—those that pay your salary? I’d wager the majority of us don’t wish to SUBSIDIZE others sins. Pay for your own control or keep your legs closed (very cheap alternative.)
Wonder how many abortions his spawn has gotten over her lifetime.
Keep putting your energies into the GOP and keep going nowhere.
It is not a conservative party and regards the rank and file who are as abject fools.
McCain must have never been a fetus.
That double yellow line can be a lonely place can’t it, Johnnie?
RINO’s only gain a spine when they are attacking conservatives and their principles. With liberals, they turn to jellyfish.
This is precisely why they can never be relied upon when the rubber meets the road.
John McCain is a Democrat.
Not the first time McCain has betrayed the weak and defenseless.
Back in the days, he agreed to chair the POW-MIA committee, and used his POW creds to betray his fellow POWs in return for political power and profit.
Every now and then McCain says something I like but mostly he just irritates the heck out of me.

Maybe this should say NO WAY IN HEAVEN! I feel that Jesus weeps daily as he sees another little life snuffed out because someone doesn’t want to be “punished” with a baby.
As much as I detest zero, I’m almost glad McCain didn’t get the win. Who does he think he is telling us to leave this issue alone?
McCain just go away.
Please.
Shut up if you can’t go away.
Another illustration of an undeniable truth: There is no further point to the Republican party. Probably, too, there is very little hope for the country as a whole because it is more likely that the USA will implode than that a principled conservative party will emerge any time in the foreseeable future.
