Following a recent high-profile rant by "Two and a Half Men" star Angus T. Jones that called the show "filth" and told viewers not to watch it, it's unclear what's next for the 19-year-old -- or for the show itself. Jones, who plays Jake Harper on the sitcom, also said he "doesn't want to be on" it anymore. But it seems neither the young actor nor his reps has contacted anyone on the production about quitting the show formally, and creator Chuck Lorre hasn't commented either. TMZ reports that a rehearsal is scheduled for this morning, though.
Will we see a Bible-tinged repeat of former "Men" star Charlie Sheen's extended public meltdown and break with the show? Too soon to say. But how did things reach this point in the first place?
Jones, who started acting in commercials at age 4, originally hails from Austin, TX. His parents moved the family to California when Jones was that age so that his father, Kelly, could go into business with his uncle, and in remarks Jones made last month to a Seventh-day Adventist group, he recalled his mother saying that, because they'd moved close to the industry, Jones could "go and try the acting thing." Publicity stunt.
The show had already jumped the shark before this.
He’s right. It is filth- and not funny either.
I wonder if Kirk Cameron had a private discussion with him about how to handle being on a TV show while being true to your faith. Cameron had many of the same issues, but he later apologized for some of his behaviors.
I agree with him.
And frankly, Scientology is a lot wackier than SDA.
I guess I’m old fashioned enough that if I say it, I mean it, and if I mean it I say it.
But, I’m not in show biz, and it won’t hurt my career.
Just tired of wishy-washy people who are afraid to take a stand, and STAND by what they say.
“Growing Pains” was not the filth this show is.
The guy sounded like he zonked on something.
Not quite, but I still can’t believe they got away with naming the zany neighbor “Boner”. The censors were really asleep at the wheel that day!
Completely agree - perversion is not comedy...it’s not even “sex jokes” - it’s just flat out perversion. Only the sarcastic remarks made by the maid on occassion did I find amusing when I watched that show.
I’m now watching old Burns and Allen re-runs - a show which stopped production off the air decades before I was born. Now this is comedy which has actual talent.
In Cameron’s mind at the time it was. He even got one of the secondary actresses fired because she appeared in Playboy and frequently demanded rewrites to fit his religious views. So he may have some insight into how to properly handle dealing with secular Hollywood while being a devout Christian.
Reading Jones’s statement, it’s more of a non-apology apology type statement than anything else.
If you don’t like the values of Hollywood then leave and do something else.
It’s easy to take the money (much much money) and then try to distance from the content. It’s a lot harder to be true to ones beliefs, even if it costs millions, and likely requires a change of career. Try working for a living and being true to your morals like the rest of us!
I’m SDA and we are not a cult. Never heard of this Hudson guy or of Forerunner but neither are representative of our church.
He apologized. Hopefully his parents talked some sense into him. This kid was NOT being Christian while worshiping that Rap Star who was his “pastor”. Glad this is over. It was a big distraction on important news like Libya.
Sorry dude, but SDA is a cult. Their beliefs and practices are not of sound Biblical theology.

Our pastor has spoken out from the pulpit on this show’s depravity—it is filth, it’s funny filth, but filth nonetheless. I loved Charlie Sheen on it, and don’t get it about Ashton Kutcher, don’t think Ashton is cute, handsome, attractive, “hot” or funny at all. He is a big clumsy dunce.
What censors? Censors? Are you serious?
One of my pet peeves is the police show premise which at the beginning shows gratuitous gore and sex as part of the snuff theme. Sick, sick and wrong.
