Skip to comments.Blacks, Latinos Concerned That a 'Non-Person of Color' Might Win NYC Council Seat

In a story the New York Times appears not to have touched, Hunter Walker at Observer.com's Politicker ("about" page is here) reported on Tuesday that Thomas Lopez-Pierre, a black Harlem activist, "circulated an email" Monday night "in an attempt to plan a 'private meeting' to 'discuss the potential damage to the political empowerment of the Black and Hispanic community if Mark Levine, a White/Jewish candidate was elected to the 7th Council District in 2013.'" So we see that black Chicagoland establishment officials trying to ensure that the successor to the recently resigned Jesse Jackson Jr. in Illinois' 2nd Congressional District are not alone in seeing a political office as somehow "belonging" to them.
Guess this means we can never have another white president then.
Its ok, because the racists here aren’t white.
Being called a “non-person” is a hell of a lot more racist and offensive than calling someone “illegal”.
Or male secretary of state. Or more than 5 white males on the SCOTUS. Etc.
A black zombie?
white is a color. if its in my crayola pack, it’s a color. peach is in there too.
Evidently we cannot have another president who is a christian either, as any territory that is seized by the muslims always belong to the muslims.
I am still shocked that they have been able to redefine white to not include hispanics.
Whenever you hear the America used to be some amazing high percent white in the 1950’s. Just remember that hispanics were counted as white then.
Democrats somehow managed to convince everyone that hispanics are not white. I guess if hispanics hadn’t agreed to go along with it, the Democrats could have tried to convince us that Italians aren’t white or some other group. Heck maybe they could of gone after the red headed vote and convinced everyone that the Irish are a seperate racial group from other whites.
Forgot about that anti-Semitic wing of the Democratic Party. Thanks for the reminder where the real race peddlers and dividers reside in American politics today.
They were concerned about the same thing in the just held presidential election, too. And that likely explains far more about the "minority vote" than all the 'analysis' and handwringing going on among the usual suspects. And the same thing probably explains the high Asian vote for Obama.
We don’t allow “no coloreds” in here.
Well, at least they aren’t racists!!
Racist? If whites don’t vote for a black they’re racists but if blacks don’t vote for a white that’s choice????
These people are what might be called The Knights of the Brown Camellia.
“Non-person of color” - meaning a colored non human?
More proof, that, you are either a fool, moron, or White Guilt Liberal to believe that minorities are not racist
Yep, and it would appear that we’re quickly becoming what once were called ‘Juden.’ At any rate, I’m beginning to understand just how those folks must have felt.
I’d like to think so, but damn if our species doesn’t have a poor track record when it comes to learning from history. It sometimes seems like feudalism and tyranny are just ‘oldies but goodies’ to the majority.
To my aging ears, that sounds a lot like Lester Maddox. I suppose there is some humor here somewhere.
No purple lizards, greys, or pink elephants for these voters!
Kinda stoopid either way.
F’em all. Why we put up with this BS is way beyond me.
So. . . does that mean a peach non-person might get in?
Is that “non-Person of Color” or “Person of non-Color”?
No need for redundancy. If you're white, you're already a non-person in today's U. S. A.
white is a color.
White is a combination of all colors. Black is actually absence of color.
Scientifically, black is NOT a color.
Speaking of reflectance it's the opposite. Black is the totality of color and white is the absence of it, as with printed matter, really anything in nature that is not a light source in it's own right.
Chicago is full of “non-persons”....
There is no Hispanic race
“At any rate, Im beginning to understand just how those folks must have felt.”
Beginning to understand? Affirmative action has reduced access to higher education, jobs, and promotions for white guys for decades. The white women aren’t liking the consequences of that (men unable to raise a family don’t marry/raise a family), but they’ll vote Dem nonetheless (then b!tch that they’re the only ones in their office/supermarket/apartment building that speak English).
The demographic slide has hastened due to these policies; the “2050” date for the tipping point was just thrown out there to prevent panic (or a real reaction from the scattered descendants of those who built this country). This past election showed just how bad it is...
“Minorities have been so brainwashed by Liberals into believing that they are incapable of competing o a level playing field, they panic when they think they are no longer in a rigged game thats in their favor.”
White women are the same way; I work with quite a few who are worthless as employees but you could never convince them of that. Useless window-dressing tokens, employed solely to stave off lawsuits (or as toys for management).
One of my favorite roles.
That is exactly what that means.
“There is no Hispanic race
I will guess that more than a few Hispanics feel differently about that.
Hence, “La Raza”. What does that translate to, literally ?
Interesting point. Blacks and Latinos refer to themselves as ‘’people of color’’. So if I call some black or Latino ‘’colored’’, is that racist?
Doesn’t matter how they “feel”
My thought was -
what if some group expressed concern that a non-white would win a NYC Council seat?
Yeah, we know what that would be greeted with.
Sounds to me like white males now qualify for all of the affirmative action benefits. Finally!
A non-person?! Oh, the horror!!!
