It is amazing how government defenders can even rationalize imposing solitary confine on **children**.

How do schools resemble prisons? Let me count the ways.

Children who are subjected to government compulsion risk learning to be comfortable with government compulsion.

Finally, when true tyranny comes to the U.S. the oligarchy will not use cattle cars to haul citizens off to the “re-education” camps. They will use big yellow school buses and the sheeple will compliantly board them just as they have been trained to do.

Actually, there are private schools who **welcome** children with these problems. Check the New Times advertising section for private schools. These private schools aren’t complaining or whining how hard it is. They are daring people on Free Republic to teach these children.

And....I bet the true taxpayer cost for these children is actually **more** than what it costs to send the child to a private school whose reputation depends on having success with them.

By the way, when all the funds for K-12 schooling are added up ( federal, state, and local) the true cost of schooling a government K-12 child is about ( on average) $17,000/year/child. There is only one private school in my state with a tuition higher than that. It is a boarding school and has its own private golf course.

If I did that to my kids at home, especially as a homeschooler, I’d see my children placed in foster care so fast my head would spin.

I’d have been branded a child abuser and used as the poster child by the NEA for why NOT to homeschool.

i guarantee you I would do better than that. I believe in being inclusive, and yes I have raised kids, boys, some of whom were a definite challenge. I do claim to have some insight into how to deal with kids and being nasty to them backfires.

Come on in the waters fine.

I don't have a ping list. I have told you that several times. Like you I ping people that I know will have an interest in a subject. and as you have said it is proper to ping people when you refer to them. Are you now giving me Carte Blanche (That means permission) to refer to you even obliquely (that means indirectly) without pinging you.

And yet you do nothing. All talk and no action.

Excellent point!

It is time that we held the teachers in our nation’s socialist-entitlement schools to the same standards applied to parents.

He was a nice kid. He wasn’t a tough, a ganster wanna be, he was just a kid who wanted friends like everyone else and his mother was beside herself trying to figure out what to do. Sure, she was a single mother, a waitress, but the kid had a father who was somewhat involved in his life. This wasn’t a throw away kid, he was loved and cared for. It was sad.

I knew another kid with the same kind of problem when we lived in California, that kid had two parents with good jobs and normal siblings. You cannot generalize like that.

are you supposed to be on some sort of medication or something?
Do you even know the definition of "solitary confine" ?
You do realize that my kids don't attend the public school system, right?

“At least you didn’t get prankish and shut off all the school’s lights!”

You know, now that you mention it, I vaguely recall thinking about something like that, but I was afraid to tamper with anything least I get electrocuted. We’re talking like 10 years old here, so I was ignorant of how those panels worked, but not so ignorant as to be unafraid of electricity in general. Quite frankly, at that age, that kind of fear is a good thing.

I guess the state will take the disabled and knock them off.
Funds are running out.
It explains the SSA ammo.

They have a scam in NYC called Adult Day Care. It’s not for seniors. It lists comprehensive care, meals, etc.. Two people have given me different flyers for locations in the last week. It notes Medicaid, Medicare, HMOs. Now with the fraud already in the system, illegals and Obamacare, it could only be Cloward-Piven and knocking people off.

Pray for me, i’ll need it.

Actually it would be better to hold the parents to the same standards as the teachers. I need a license to become a teacher, all you needed to become a parent was a bottle of wine and the back seat of a station wagon.

What is "Solitary confine"? I have heard of Solitary confinement, but never a "solitary confine."

You don't think a highly educated medical professional; would ever shoot from the lip and not check their spelling do you? No a medical professional would never ever do something like that, no NEVER!

A money making scam, nothing else. It proves nothing.

A teaching degree means nothing. It doesn't qualify one to become a teacher because it doesn't teach teaching majors how to teach. They are expected to learn on the job and I have been told that by more than one teacher because I specifically asked.

Licensing parents, eh? Thank you for revealing your socialist agenda. Nothing like more government control of our lives.

Your contempt for parents is duly noted.

solitary confine
^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Congratulations for having the good sense to remove your children from the government schools. Parents should have the choice to choose the best educational setting for their child.

Actually, I do know the meaning of solitary confinement since I was the charge nurse of a psychiatric ward for 2 years when I was in my early 20s. It's not pretty.

I think metmom is correct.

When it comes to government schooling we should always ask, “What would happen if a parent did this to a child?”

The fundamental problem underlying **all** government schooling is that it is compulsory. Compulsion means police and court action. All the children who learned of this incident risk learning to be comfortable with government compulsion.

If true tyranny comes to the U.S. the fascist oligarchy will not use cattle cars to haul people off to the concentration camps. No. No. They will use big yellow school buses and the sheeple will compliantly board them just as they have been trained to do.

A teaching degree means nothing. It doesn't qualify one to become a teacher because it doesn't teach teaching majors how to teach. They are expected to learn on the job and I have been told that by more than one teacher because I specifically asked. You were specifically told wrong. I had to take courses in my Major area and have classes in teaching as well as doing student teaching. This meant I had to have a "Master Teacher" that observed me on several occasions as well as a "Cooperating teacher" that supervised me day to day. This included review of lesson plans, interactions with students, etc.... Anyone that told you different was a liar or as ill informed as you still are.

Licensing parents, eh? Thank you for revealing your socialist agenda. Nothing like more government control of our lives.

By wintertimes own admission his/ her parenting skills were/ are considerably lacking. You yourself have said that putting children in public schools in tantamount (wintertime that means equivalent to or roughly equal to) child abuse. So if ole wintertime abused his/ her children by putting them in a public school while gallivanting around the globe maybe licenses for parents isn't a bad idea. (Note the previous comment was sarcastic comment intended to point out how ridiculous your twisting of my words are and a slam at wintertimes justification of using the public schools)

Your contempt for lousy parents is duly noted. Fixed it for you
