University Indoctrination Alive and Well After Obama Re-Election

When Barack Obama was re-elected on November 6, the vast majority of professors across the country cheered and continued to force their liberal ideology on their students. In fact, 96 percent of Ivy League professors who donated to a campaign this election cycle, donated to President Obama.

Ivy League educators overwhelmingly supported President Obama with their campaign donations in the presidential election, reinforcing the suspicions of critics who say their bias also shows up in the classroom.

Some 96 percent of faculty and staffers at the eight universities who donated wrote their checks to Obama, and at Brown University, just one professor contributed to Mitt Romney's bid, according to a study by student political advocacy group Campus Reform. In all, the employees of the prestigious schools sent more than $1.2 million to President Obama and just $114,166 for Romney’s campaign -- a ratio of more than 10-to-1.

“These numbers represent more evidence that grand claims of diversity and tolerance on the American campus ring hollow," said Josiah Ryan, a spokesman for Campus Reform. "It is impossible to believe that professors did not protect their financial investment in President Obama through campaigning in the classroom.”

For years the Left has used the education system not to educate, but to indoctrinate. Their efforts go beyond spouting political rhetoric and have expanded to destroying the marketplace of free ideas. We've seen successful attempts to drown out any traditional or conservative opinions come under the guise of "diversity" and now, we're seeing it in the form of "inclusiveness."

A political science professor at Butler University asks students to disregard their “American-ness, maleness, whiteness, heterosexuality, middle-class status” when writing and speaking in the classroom – a practice the school’s arts and sciences dean defended as a way to negate students’ inherent prejudices.

The syllabus of the course at Butler, a small Midwestern liberal arts institution in Indianapolis, spells out that students should use “inclusive language” because it’s “a fundamental issue of social justice.”

“Language that is truly inclusive affirms sexuality, racial and ethnic backgrounds, stages of maturity, and degrees of limiting conditions,” the syllabus states, referencing a definition created by the United Church of Christ.

The syllabus of the class, called Political Science 201: Research and Analysis, goes on to ask students “to write and speak in a way that does not assume American-ness, maleness, whiteness, heterosexuality, middle-class status, etc. to be the norm.” It is taught by a black, female professor.

This new "inclusiveness" is essentially the same liberal propaganda we've seen since the 60s wrapped up in a new bow and it's becoming a national movement known as the Making Excellence Inclusive Initiative.

This initiative is "designed to help colleges and universities fully integrate diversity, equity, and educational quality efforts into their missions and institutional operations".

The definition sounds harmless, but in practice, the AAC&U is encouraging universities to redefine its educational priorities and adopt more aggressive racial preferences programs as it selects its students and faculty.

As Denver University describes the initiative: "Inclusiveness and Excellence are merged and considered one and the same as opposed to the traditional perspective that separates the two concepts. To practice inclusiveness is excellence".

Since when are the two concepts "one and the same"? Shouldn't the world of academia be focused on academics?

Liberal administrators are gaining momentum from a national movement that seeks to dumb down higher education. Instead of providing a rigorous academic environment for students, universities are shifting their focus to "socialization".

When Ann Coulter visited Cal Poly State University, the school's Inclusive Excellence Council filed a complaint and held a hearing about Ann Coulter's visit to the university, lamenting that during her Q-and-A, Coulter attempted to "intimidate" and "demean" students who sought to challenge her views. Ironically, the administrator that filed the complaint did not even attend the event.

This initiative is simply another way for universities and colleges to become a bully for liberal causes rather than stand up for the marketplace of ideas. Students (and parents) aren't spending thousands of dollars in tuition every year for a glorified form of sensitivity training.

I discussed all of this on Hannity last night.

Please, let’s stop the brainless generalizing.

Turn off the radio and go visit your closest college campus. Don’t be afraid. Book learning is good. Good!

How is reporting truth “generalizing”? I realize from reading your page you are a professional at being a student, yet some things are pretty obvious with regard to how universities in this country have devolved into propagandists for the progressive cause.

Please, let’s stop the brainless generalizing.

Your anecdotal experience is more than likely the exception to the rule.

Book learning would be a nice change to what is GENERALLY with some exceptions currently leftist indoctrination.

“Professional at being a student”

=

“My reading comprehension level is low.”
and
“I mouth Freeper clichees.”

Read my profile more carefully. I paid my own way through school—always. I had a long sales career in Big Pharma before stumbling into teaching, which I love.

I teach a strictly neutral version of history, and have never been pressured into doing otherwise.

Like I said, don’t be afraid of that book learnin’! And turn Limbaugh off and start thinking for yourself.

Obviously unlike yourself, I know lots of University instructors. Their attitudes run the spectrum. Most are just doing their jobs, and pulling in a pretty good paycheck.

Yes, I’m impatient.
No, I don’t get a fat paycheck.
Yes, I will, once I get tenure.

/Don’t be afraid of books. They’re much more friendly than talk radio and the moving picture box.

And turn Limbaugh off and start thinking for yourself.

Oh, really? By listening to NPR and "All Things Considered" instead?

Gee, that's what Barky told Republican congressmen the first time he sat with them, in 2009.

You down with Barky?

“Like I said, don’t be afraid of that book learnin’! And turn Limbaugh off and start thinking for yourself.”

What is it with liberals constantly telling folks to turn of Limbaugh? Do you all secretly meet and discuss what talking points you’re going to spew?

I rarely listen to Rush but don’t let that confuse you with the fact that colleges are indeed liberal havens! My son attends college and a few of his instructors are liberals not afraid to force their opinion on the entire class.

You are quite obviously a progressive lover of the government education hierarchy. You immediately attack your opponent as one “without” the same blessings of government provided knowledge. Pretty much the game plan used by socialist progressive trolls. Your line regarding “Freeper cliches” further identifies you as a troll as you attack those who host this website. Your implication that conservatives are somehow against “book learnin’” completely convicts you as a complete and total Dem lovin’, commie-lover, TROLL. May God have mercy on your little socialist soul.

The leftist education bubble will eventually burst -pumping out indebted and indoctrinated useful idiot indentured servants that depend on government for everything is not sustainable for much longer.

When the bubble bursts, the illegitimate paychecks as well as the illegitimate 'instructors' will no longer be carried by those that actually contribute and create wealth...

In her University Sophomore year, my Niece and the rest of her History Class were treated to a viewing of Loose Change, the 9/11 Conspiracy Theory “documentary”.

It was presented to the audience of “heads full of mush” as a valid theory by the Libtard Professor. My Niece, who I thought had better sense, spent a half hour defending the Movie after I asked her if any other Videos were presented that debunked the trash she and her classmates were spoon fed by the nutcase Teacher.

Up to that point, I thought she was immune to the cancer of Liberalism.

That is just a small example of the kind of Progressive crap we are facing, and I am afraid it has become a losing battle. The Election just confirmed my worst fears.
