White House: Obama 'Will Not Sign' a Deal Unless It Increases Taxes By Terence P. Jeffrey November 29, 2012

(CNSNews.com) - White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said today that no matter what else happens President Barack Obama--who is the only modern president other than Franklin Roosevelt to serve in four years when federal spending topped 24 percent of GDP--will not sign a deal to avoid the so-called fiscal cliff that will arrive at the end of this year unless that deal increases taxes.

"So the President made clear that he is not wedded to every detail of his plan," said Carney. "The President has also made categorically and abundantly clear that he will not sign an extension of the Bush-era tax cuts for top earners. It’s bad economic policy and we cannot afford it. He will not sign that."

According to official calculations made by the White House Office of Management and Budget that go back to 1930, Barack Obama and Franklin Roosevelt are the only two presidents who have served in four fiscal years when federal spending exceeded 24 percent of GDP. Roosevelt did so in 1942, 1943, 1944, and 1945 (when he died in office). Obama did so in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Since 1930, according to the White House, there has been only one year when federal tax revenues went as high as 20 percent of GDP. That was 2000, when revenues were 20.6 percent of GDP.

No matter what the federal income tax rates have been, at no time since 1930 has the federal government been able to collect as much as 21 percent of GDP in taxes.

House of Reps - We will not pass a bill unless it eliminates the DoEd, DoE, DoT, DoHHS, EPA, and DoAg.

So, no deal, automatic cuts, and the Republicans can work on things like totally defending the NEA, Obambcare, and the EPA with plenty of time left over to investigate each and every one of the czars everyone seems to have forgotten about along with each and every breech of the Constitution this administration and King Barry have made. Not to mention the lies about Benghazi and other foreign incidents. Keep Hillary on the Hill testifying about one thing or three days out of every week until the late summer break. Then start to subpoena the people she rats out or implicates.

Every time someone asks a Republican a question about anything the Republican should start talking about election fraud or some corrupt democrat they're investigating and never, ever, even acknowledge that wasn't what they were asked about.

I'd be happy with a deal that increases taxes--for, and only for, Obama voters. Call it a sin tax.

I love the comparison to FDR and that 24%. It was during a time of war which we won. Where to fund it we were also selling war bonds where at 18.50 in twenty years would yield $25.00. When self sacrifice was demanded of our citizens. Gas was rationed, as well as foodstuffs, eggs, sugar, meat, and familys were issued stamps; ration stamps limiting their consumption per family. Where we would have blackouts to save electricity dedicated to the war effort and to win it. Not because of some cock-a-mammy excuse to reduce global warming. When churches were filled and even democrats believed in and prayed to God .
Yea compare this creep to FDR.

Let’s just go over the cliff! My bet is that it’s just another scare tactic to get the sheeple to pressure their “elected representatives” to go along with FUBO. I don’t see how it can get much worse. We need to collapse this central government before it seals our fate, if it hasn’t already.

It is getting so bad with their spin..pretty soon..if the republicans do hold firm, we might actually start seeing images on the media of poor people (or paid to be poor people wink wink) on the streets pleading for money from the rich :) They may resemble the walking dead only it will be children w/tears carrying a cute puppy with a pink bow. Of course,a sign which reads: Rich people did this with that insane Obama logo at the bottom. :) Be on the lookout..coming soon..

Obama’s a Marxist punk. He will never agree to do anything that is good for this country. The GOP has squandered every opportunity it has ever had. They have caved each and every time they have had the chance to win—not just the battle, but the war. They have the votes to win. Yet they cave. All they have to is say “NO” one time, just one time, and it’s game, set, match.

1. He's a fraud.

2. He's a fraud.

3. He's a fraud.

Hopefully he, Biden, Reid and Pelosi die (a natural death!) in office and we can be rid of these commie parasites. Probably not much chance in that faint hope though! If there is a hell I'm sure they're headed there!

The Republicans should write it this way:

“For those making $250,000 or less. the George W Bush tax cuts shall be made permanent. For those making over $250,000, the new rate shall be set at 5% higher than the tax rate of Canada.”

Your right..at the end of the day the GOP will cave..just like they did during the market crisis in 2008, they caved then and they will cave again..they listen too much to what the media tells them to think. I say let them go off the damn cliff..going off the cliff will do the same thing that Obama wants done anyway..I say let Obama’s rich supporters get a huge tax increase, make them pay their “Fair Share” see how they like it

But Boner has come up with a better deal for zero that both will like. Instead of tax increases, zero will be allowed to draw up a list of Tea Party conservatives destined for the FEMA camps.
The tax increase have nothing to do with the debt. For the Dems and zero, tax increases are all about destroying their opposition by defunding, demoralizing and alienating conservatives.

We just keep looking at this from the Republican point of view. What happens to the Democrats if nothing is done? Does that mean the Democrat voters lose their income tax refund during an election year? My...my....lots of Democrat Senators running for re-election in 2014. Real Shame if the Senate went over to the Republicans. Come on Democrats!

lowering spending increases. The spending still goes up.

It's pure madness where the Dems are trying to take our country.

The only issue that matters to the Democrats is the increase of the debt ceiling. The rest is just smoke and mirrors. Likewise, the only card that the Republicans hold is to vote against a debt ceiling increase. So at this point, the Republicans should give Obama everything he wants EXCEPT for raising the debt ceiling. Then the Dems’ true colors will be revealed.
