Rick Perry's Ghostwriter Moves to the Senate

Erick Erickson informs his conservative readers that Sen.-elect Ted Cruz, the agreed-upon star of the new GOP class, has picked Chip Roy as his chief of staff. Why they should be happy:

Chip currently works for Governor Rick Perry. If you’ve ever read Governor Perry’s book Fed Up!, well, you know Chip Roy as the guy who helped put pen to paper for the Governor and helped shape Governor Perry’s thinking on federalism issues.

That represents no change from what we expected -- Cruz was always going to join the Mike Lee/Rand Paul Appeal to Reason caucus. It's just good to see that the book used by Mitt Romney to brand Rick Perry as a dangerous libertarian is going to have a second life. For a little while in 2011, a few conservatives thought that Perry's derision for the entitlement state had found its moment. It hadn't.........

".........More than anything, the debacle of 2012 should show the GOP that it can’t run a Seinfeldian campaign — a campaign about nothing. Chris Caldwell summed it up nicely in these pages: “Where two candidates argue over values, the public may prefer one to the other. But where only one candidate has values, he wins, whatever those values happen to be.” - - Excerpted from Are Republicans Learning the Wrong Lessons?

Levin mentioned Cruz hiring Chip Roy. Said Chip is a personal friend and is the best of the best. Thrilled that Cruz picked him for his #1 D.C. guy. Also mentioned he had worked with Rick Perry.

I’m sitting there hearing Mark and thinking, oh my, and people want to believe for various reasons (excuses) that Perry is a “RINO”? So that’s why Levin’s sworn-by, conservative guy, was working for Perry and why Perry picked him...Perry’s “RINO-ism”??

Oh yeah...that makes sense. NOT.

According to Levin, Chip Roy has battled a health problem for years but is on the mend and cleared to work for Ted Cruz.

And I have predicted all along that Perry and Cruz would work closely together for Texas, states rights and conservativism. Those who fell for the “had to endorse Dewhurst the Lt. Gov. but still, must be a RINO so can’t work with Cruz” narrative will be demonstrated wrong, AGAIN...
