A veteran Peabody cop was released with no bail today after state police arrested him on shocking allegations he sexually abused his stepdaughter.
Frederick Wojick, 48, pleaded innocent this morning at Peabody District Court to six counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 and one count of dissemination of obscene matter to a minor, according to the Essex County District Attorneys office.
Wojick is being represented by high-profile attorney Thomas Dreschler. Dreschler contended the charges were motivated by a family dispute over the stepdaughters boyfriend, who Dreschler said has been in trouble with the law.

Not the most open and shut abuse case ever. Hope the prosecutor thoroughly checked the girls story before ruining a man’s life. And even then it still seems that it’s going to be difficult to convict based on the facts in the story.
Funny how cops get a pass on everything. If this were an ordinary person bail would not have been granted or granted so high that there would be no chance of making it.

Guilty or innocent, it’s ruined. On theses types of charges, everybody remembers the accusation. An acquittal, in many people’s minds, proves nothing.
I’m not saying whether this guy is guilty or not, I’m just saying that it’s the charge(s) that everyone remembers, not necessarily the outcome.
