ATLANTA (CBS Atlanta) - A Democratic representative is calling for an amendment to the United States Constitution that would allow for some legislative restriction of freedom of speech.
We need a constitutional amendment that would allow the legislature to control the so-called free speech rights of corporations, Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) was quoted as saying by CNS News.
He reportedly made these comments while speaking at the Annesbrooks HOA candidate Forum held last month.
In a video obtained by the website, Johnson asserts that corporations control patterns of thinking.
They control the media. They control the messages that you get, he added. And these folks are setting up a scenario where theyre privatizing every aspect of our lives as we know it. So, wake up! Wake up! Lets look at whats happening.
Corporations and unions are protected under the First Amendment of the Constitution because of the ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, which found that a state law prohibiting corporations from making political campaign contributions using their treasury funds was unconstitutional.
The ruling additionally stated that the spending was a form of political speech that is protected by the First Amendment, according to the official blog of the Supreme Court of the United States.
These corporations, along with the people they support, other millionaires who theyre putting into office, are stealing your government, Johnson was quoted as saying by CNS News. Theyre stealing the government and the U.S. Supreme Court was a big enabler with the Citizens United case.
2012 was the single worst year of a horrible Obama presidency. The ONLY reason Obama survived to be re-elected is because the media got him there. The media covered up disasters and scandals from national security leaks in the spring to make Obama look good for his campaign (impeachable), to Fast & Furious and the absurd exec. privilege claim, to the lies and cover up of Benghazi, to the cover up of the botched federal response to Sandy and the true depths of the economic mess we're in, inc. falsifying job and employment numbers. Any one of these things would have been used to sink a Republican incumbent by the US news media. For Obama, they covered it all up.
So please don't sit there and tell us it's corporations that have undo influence over the country. It's the left wing US news media that is subverting democracy, working their hearts out to get Democrats elected or to keep them in office by ensuring voters cast their votes in near total ignorance to the facts and the truth about Democratic candidates from Obama on down. Those parent companies of media outlets that aren't left wing oriented are nonetheless allowing that kind of left wing subversion of our republic contrary to their interests, not in furtherance of them. It's amazing a stooge like this can get elected---and his fascist comments likely being ignored by the news media other than this local Atlanta affiliate will only prove the truth of what I'm saying.
The Dems want to get rid of the 1st and 2nd Amendment ... before the next election I predict the 22nd Amendment will be under attack. ;-)
I think someone should tell the kongress critter there is a 2nd Amendment prohibition against what he’s trying to do.
There was no control of his speech when he was concerned about Guam capsizing.
Repealing the lst and 2nd Amendments is a Democrat wet dream.
Repealing the 22nd is Obama’s wet dream.
Drop Dead Hank Johnson...you moron!
Hank sounds like he might be a Nazi.
I saw this racist bigot on FOX today. I think it was Darrell Issa who called him out and put him in his place. One thing was obvious to me, if it wasn’t for his skin color, this moron probably wouldn’t have a job.
The idiot needs to go stand at the heavy end of Guam.
And that's a bad thing? I prefer my life to be as private as possible.

Hey, Hank, here’s some advice for you: get off the funny mushrooms before you proceed to bath salts and end up just another zombie/cannibal.
I wouldn’t mind if they repealed the 19th amendment. (Donning my flamesuit.)
It should be.
LOL! Flame suit will be needed. ;-)
The Congressman is talking like a dunce.
Now, I'm not so sure.
“I am embarrassed by the sliding intelligence of my countrymen when I read this type of stupidity.”
You mean like the following example:
Everybody in Cleveland, low minorities, got Obama phone. Keep Obama in president, you know. He gave us a phone, he gonna do more. You sign up! If you on food stamps, you on social security, you got low income, you disability
Not only would I not mind it, I have been advocating it since the late 1970's.
Do not be afraid, unless you sleep in a place that contains both a woman and a cast-iron frying pan.
The way most women vote, it's hard to disagree with you.
Hey! Just look at Alcee Hastings (D), impeached for corruption and removed from the federal bench, and who was elected in 1992 and has been reelected every two since then. Unfortunately, it appears that stupidity is related to skin color in both cases.
Can’t fix stupid.
Totaliarian by any other name is still totalitarian.
True. He would love several more terms, in the name of national interest of course.

People who are so fence post stupid that they think an island like Guam might tip over should never be allowed to speak and never be quoted if they do. How ‘bout dat?
I could agree to limitations on free speech if it applied to lying politicians, lying media and unions.
Not one shred of doubt
Of course.
The first pie-hole to be silenced would be his!
“The Congressman is talking like a dunce.”
If you can bear to listen to him for 30 seconds, you’ll realize he is a dunce.
What mindless masses vote for these low-lifes?
This is not to agree with the Congresscritter, but isn't the left wing media controlled and owned by, D'UH, corporations, and filling their coffers with dollars that come from advertising by other corporations, which apparently is successful selling products to consumers, some of whom even vote?!
“This would be the Congressman that was afraid that Guam would tip over if we increased our Military presence there? “
The very same, and notably, he’s also one of Holder’s People. Clearly an Affirmative Action type, so all he needs to do is roll up his sleeve and put his arm next to that of his constituents for comparison and he’s elected (again and again).
I agree in spirit, however, I believe in free speech for all, regardless. Otherwise someone or some group would have to decide what to accept or reject. As it stands, all Americans are the ones to decide what they accept or reject and I like that just fine. JMHO ;-)
Just think: If a White GOP Congressman said this, the HeteroPhobes at MSNBC would have their bowels so twisted they would have to eat toilet paper
But, since it is a Black Racist who thinks Guam will tip over...I guess its OK to take away people’s Const. rights
Frank Marshall Davis/Obama Revenge File.
Heard about this comment but the news blurb didn’t mention he struggled to put two words together while preening for the cameras, as an old friend of mine would say, “You cannot be this f***ing stupid!”...
Perhaps somebody should provisionally agree to curtail citizen speech in exchange for the removal of Congress’ article 1, section 6 protection and immunity from prosecution for the words spoken by members in debate on the floor.

Nice job of summarizing reality
This imbecile congress creature is too stupid to realize he’s a moron

Joining the word 'corporations' with the 'stop hate speech' meme is just the start.
The constitution is the only thing keeping us from becoming part of the new world order of the next big caliphate.
