Another song from Flashdance. Sembello wrote the song about a serial killer, so the producers of the film asked him to change the words, which he did. Jennifer Beals did the acting, but the dancing was done by Marine Jahan, who at the time was the wife of Kevin Bacon.

These guys liked to add a little naughtiness to their videos, but not enough to set off alarm bells at MTV. This time they played it straight.

This 1931 Irving Berlin tune marked a quantum leap. It defined the line between his early sentimental material and the later edgy material. The trick to this song is figuring out the time signature. (Drumbo could do it; I couldnt.)
Irving was 94 years old in 1982 and living with his housekeeper in his Manhattan apartment. One day he noticed that his royalty checks were getting larger. He was mystified. His housekeeper informed him that there was this new thing called MTV, and there was a music video of one of his signature songs that also used a few of his early tunes. Irving got a chance to see this video and his reaction was, Who the hell are these fags? At least Im getting paid. Irving always understood the bottom line.

I’m surprised the “black-face” didn’t get Taco on big trouble in 1982! LOL!

The version showed by MTV was quite a bit different from the video I linked to. Even then, they were careful.
