On November 28, 1941 the religious and political leader of the Palestinian Arabs and one of the most influential leaders of the Arab world, Haj Amin el Husseini, met with Adolf Hitler in Berlin.

According to one story, one of my father's cousins came from an old Hapsburg supporting families. When the Nazis stormed into Austria, my grandfather begged him to leave. The cousin responded that he was a better Austrian than the expatriate corporal. He was correct, but this was utterly irrelevant and he did not survive the month.
