RE :”That is a good idea. 500K and up is fairer. It would be funny if Boehner came back with a proposal to increase taxes on “the top 2%” not “250K and up”. The top 2% would miss people like Romney but cover people like JayZ.”

You still don't exactly understand how to WIN this fight, Here:
Boehner doesn't have to raise taxes on anyone.
All he has to do is to explain that his Rs protected the middle class with a tax cut extension (first $500K of income) and that taxes will go up on the rich automatically because Dems own the Senate and WH.

Republicans :
1) Tell the middle class you protected them from a tax increase, all income UNDER $500K for everyonemWarren Buffet ruke #2.
2) Don't raise any taxes on anyone (House Rs)

This is exactly my point. In-carefully spoken words lead to total defeat. Dems focus group test all theirs,.

I HAVE HAD IT WATCHING Rs LOSE OVER AND OVER.

You are right. Wording is important and I did notice your point about the media distortion during the presidential election. It’s not a tax increase but leaving things the way they are.

Anna, you come across as a very sincere (very likable)and well meaning person so please don’t take anything I said personal against you. I am voicing my frustration at those Rs in DC, I just just glad if I helped you see things differently.

I discussed this issue with a Republican party true believer at the gym today and he told me he thinks that Rs can use holding the middle class tax cuts (<$250 K income) hostage will get O to surrender on entitlement reform.

I told him he COMPLETELY misreads the cards. This is no weapon for Bohner to use,
Instead it is a club for O to beat the crap out of Rs again exactly as he did a year ago with FICA tax cuts,
And your vanity here is supporting that, except you focus on the media, me the Rs and what they need to do.

My point is also that Obama carefully plays the media for his gains and picks his battles.

Rs need to study how he does it and fight fire with fire,.

The MSM is as out of control as the Dims - how do you stop them without violence?

All Republicans need to do is to refuse to raise the debt ceiling. Obama and the Democrats can have everything else they want, but it won't matter to them if they are unable to print up new money to fund their spending.

The only way - and I mean the ONLY way that Republicans (and America) can win here is to stop Bernanke and Geithner from expanding the money supply to fund government. Any tax increase that the Democrats are currently discussing pales in comparison to the most heinous tax increase of all - inflation - that has plagued us for the last four years. Every time they raise the debt ceiling, the purchasing power of the American citizen decreases. Stop the madness now. DO NOT RAISE THE DEBT CEILING!

That is a good idea. 500K and up is fairer.

How is that 'fairer'? The fair thing to do would be to make everyone pay the same tax rate. Everyone. The reason we have a problem now is because everyone doesn't pay the same rate. Nearly half of all Americans pay zero income tax. And it is these Americans that are voting in politicians who support every spending increase (because they benefit from it) and every tax increase (because it costs them nothing).

Every worker should be vested in our government. That is why every worker should be required to pay taxes. Once someone making $20,000 a year is forced to pay $2800 (14%) in taxes, that person instantly becomes acutely aware of the excess spending that is taking place.

Photobucket
sums it up pretty well. Maybe Bonehead can talk to Bush Sr or channel Reagan and ask them how this type of deal worked out for them.
