Is it now time to go Galt?
Tea Party Nation. ^ | 12/1/12 | Judson Phillips

Going Galt has a nice ring to it. Most people do not know what going Galt really means. Like so many expressions we have today, it can mean any number of things.

How about a going Galt strategy that will generate results? What does going Galt mean and how would the strategy work?

Going Galt is generally meant that those of us who are producers in society simply refuse to produce any more. Without producers, the economy will collapse. After all, without the producers, who is going to make what the takers want?

Going Galt is actually something the left would like. After all, the goal of Obama and the hard left is not simply to rule but to fundamentally change America. A crisis like that would give them the chance.

So what do we do?

She was an atheist.

Slight correction. She was a militant atheist. Nonetheless she was a brilliant voice for unbridled capitalism and the power of the individual.

Galt has one overwhelming, blind-spot about “going galt”. It presumes we do not have competitors who are perfectly willing, eager even to take our place.

For example China.

Wake up people. By “going galt” you are simply handing the world to the Chicoms.

You are in error.

“Going Galt” comes from Ayn Rand’s novel “Atlas Shrugged” and (speaking very basically) means that the hard-working, productive and principled portion of the populace simply withdraw from society, relocate somewhere secure and begin to build anew.

Don't agree. China is heading for it's own collapse.

The actions taken in the fictional book are idealized and extreme. They don't realistically reflect real life. I went what i call “partially Galt” or “starve the beast” as soon as I knew Obama would win in 2008. I did not start any new projects, told my wife to retire, and cut our household income by 75%. We paid off all our debt. I have lowered tax exposure as much as possible. The only stocks I own are pipeline companies.

Now I wait. Perhaps someday investment will be worthwhile again. Perhaps not. I can wait. In the meantime I'll call it whatever I please, and I call it going Galt.

Well I interpret Sarah’s reluctance last time to something else entirely.

Her daughters are at a formative age. She has been at home for them.

By 2016 they will be significantly older and much better equipped to deal with the world.

I believe strongly, Sarah Palin represents a true hope.

Time to Go Galt?

Done it. Retired, cashed in, and living on the nest egg so I don't to give any more to the IRS than I have to.

I disagree strongly.

Have you been in any shopping location in the last four years?

Everything, everywhere is made in China.

All of it.

The electoral map has shown us where our kind for many, many years now.

You make good points but are probably ahead of the curve. Timing is everything. Currency is ONE fact of many factors.

I think our future is similar to the USSR. They simply went out of business and the power reverted back to the satellite countries. It appears to have made a difference what country you lived in. All survived but it was harder in some countries. I visited Mongolia after the fact, it was like the frontier, they had to reinvent everything and were discovering their past which as been repressed for 90 years.

Strange thing, I am actually encouraged by the possible demise of the USA because I don't think we can fix it.(but I am willing to be proven wrong)

I likely speak for a lot of folks here but won’t assume it.I don’t have enough money to stop producing and hole up somewhere. When you hole up and assume you can sell your house first, take your $ with you, get off the grid, and abandon your extended family including your grandparents who may not be politically aligned with you and DO want to see their grandkids, it just becomes good talk and a good book and movie. Not to mention you’d leave your church family behind. If I stop producing, I stop eating.

This will be apostasy to many of Ms. Rand’s fervent followers but I always recommend that new readers start with The Fountainhead.

Fabulous book (though it has been 25 years since I last reread it, for about the 10th time), compelling, inspiring, fraught with suspense, and you get the pure, powerful fundamentals of Rand’s thinking without the many, many pages of overt philosophizing that come in Atlas Shrugged.

You can move on to Atlas Shrugged after you tear through Fountainhead. Enjoy!

The simplest way to go galt is to remove your money from the system so it won’t circulate. This can be done by withdrawing your money from the bank and into cash, and take it home. Banks leverage their deposits 10:1, so your actions have a leveraged effect. If you take $3000 out of your bank, that prevents them from making a car loan.

I believe the best response is the formation of an international "Conservative Business Club", with by-laws that strongly encourage members to steer business (and employment opportunities) to one-another and being required to provide support to select conservative organizations (this very forum comes to mind). Different levels of membership would have different requirements (heavier donations to conservative causes, etc).

Just my thought. The Club could even form its own off-shore version of Galt's Gulch (Boquete, Panama comes to mind).

Can't you just imagine this was the scene with Obama and his Commie staff after stealing the election through voter fraud- while Conservatives blame Romney, argue, point fingers and try to figue out how to suck up to minorities the 'next time'?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic">

What most refuse to acknowledge is that it was unlikely that ANYBODY could have beaten the voter fraud planned and perpetrated by the Obama machine. They seem to prefer pointing fingers, blaming Romney and blathering on about who to run in 2016 and how to suck up to the minorities.

We can not wait for 2014 and 2016 to regroup and figure out new strategies. By then it will be too late. The Marxist/Muslim usurper will have completed his planned distruction of America. That's what people fail to understand.

We must act NOW.

Start with the election. If we let the Rats get away with this massive voter fraud, we're no better than a bananna republic.

We must keep digging and pounding him every day, in every way we can- phony birth certificate, Benghazi, Fast and Furious, his hidden life, records....

Col Allen West; "I don't want to see America become like Zimbabwe where people don’t trust their electoral process. If we cannot trust the integrity of the voting system then we are no longer a free republic".

Col West has opened the door.

We must fight election fraud.

It falls on ‘We the People’.

Silence is consent

These elections are NOT certified yet. The only way to get this investigated, much less recounted or overturned, is through the Secretary of State of each of the five key states: Florida, Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. EVEN IF YOU ARE IN ANOTHER STATE you can help. But it won’t do any good to dilute our effort to challenge California or Michigan or other states. Until a major group gets involved to do more, here is the plan: Contact the Secretary of State of the state in question. See contact information below...

Thanks. I’ll probably order the book. It seems more reasonable than some of the other survival themed books out there.

China in collapse?China city before private companies and today after private companies(capitalism)

In contrasts thanks to Obama and democrats the U.S.A cities are degrading into hellholes of socialism (crime and decay) run by democrats. The U.S.A is now the more socialist country. Obama borrows trillions from China to pay gov workers, workers non-profits, and welfare cretins in the U.S. that don't produce anything. Those of us that do produce should go Galt as a protest imo. screw them

Ukraine definitely has its pluses and minuses. The cost of living is really low. Having lived in rural areas, I’m not sure about living in one of the cities. That’s one of the things on my mind. The bureaucracy is often on the take to supplement meager salaries.

It’s a country that should be much more prosperous than it is. The old style Soviet bureaucracy, the continued meddling by Russia and the corruption all hold the country back. Ukraine is mouthing the words about joining the EU. I don’t think the country and its poorer citizens can afford it. It looks like Russia scammed an LNG terminal deal to bluff the Ukrainians into thinking they were actually accomplishing something.

Compared to the deterioration of liberty here, Ukrainians have less encounters with SWAT teams, TSA, and the paraphernalia that’s permeating our society. I don’t look for drones overflying Ukraine anytime soon.

Amish are definitely not a problem in Ukraine. And PC doesn’t exist. You can also forget about PETA and a whole bunch of similar single issue PITA organizations existing there.

The downside is I would have to do some serious bargaining to get my firearms into the country. Ukraine is less permissive than Russia that way.
