Placing toilet paper imprinted with President Barack Obama's face in a fire station has led to a firefighter's termination and he had until 5 p.m. Friday to turn in his badge.
It was Clint Pierce's third instance of posting political paraphernalia on city property and a violation of a direct order to cease and desist from such behavior, according to city records.
"It was clearly a case of insubordination," city spokeswoman Sandra King said Friday. "He had a similar situation of posting political messages on city property and he was given a free pass at that time and told to cease and desist and he did it again and really exacerbated the situation."
Expressions of political views that could be considered offensive or divisive don't belong on municipal property, the city says.

I’m of two minds on this one.
First, it is disrespectful to the Presidency, although the Office’s current occupant is certainly deserving of that disrespect. Second, free speech is free speech.
I wonder, though, if similar discipline would be meted out if it were a Republican President whose face was on the TP. I rather doubt it.
Finally, a soiled piece of Obama TP is truly hazardous waste.
I wonder if the union will defend him. Firefighters are a rough and ready bunch and as far as practical jokes go, this one is pretty tame.
I wonder how many of the public office workers have pictures of 0bammy on their ‘city property’ walls... Shouldn’t they get fired too?
This employee might have a case if he could point to others in his work place who were posting offensive political views counter to his own but these folks weren’t being punished for it. And if that is the case, then any decent judge is going to say....”if you fire one then you need to fire anyone who does it”!

This actually burns me. Public school teachers bashed President Bush to no end. I didn’t hear about to many firings.
