House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who is Catholic, indicated on Friday that she supports forcing St. Mary’s Medical Center, the oldest continuously operating hospital in her San Francisco-based congressional district, to provide health plans to its workers that cover sterilizations, contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs free of charge even though the Catholic faith says this Catholic hospital may not do so because these things are intrinsically immoral.

“We are committed to furthering the healing ministry of Jesus,” says the hospital's mission statement.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius—who, like Pelosi, is Catholic—issued the sterilization-contraception-abortifacient mandate as a regulation under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, AKA Obamacare. The Catholic bishops of the United States have repeatedly argued, including in numerous lawsuits, that the regulation violates the First-Amendment-guaranteed right to the free exercise of religion by Catholics and Catholic institutions. …

Doesn't this Pelosi woman have work to do at home in her own family getting some of her grandchildren aborted or whatever?

What a busy body.

I’m not surprised. Whenever there is a choice between freedom and government control, Pelosi always chooses government. Whenever there is a choice between thrift and waste, Pelosi always chooses waste. Whenever there is a choice between good and evil, Pelosi always chooses evil. This time, Pelosi gets a triple for her stance. How could she resist that?

Given JFK's reputation.. I wonder if it was her first time and did he wait until they were in the living quarters . . . or does THE RACE OF HER LIFE mean she escaped?

Look, Pelosi is an acolyte of the Antichrist ~ and it’s time she was recognized as such. You do not have to take on the character of being ‘antichrist’ to be completely evil, and that’s what she is.

“IIRC, Madame Pelosi is a Catholic.”

No, she claims to be a Catholic. She won’t stand before God and uphold the teachings of the Church, you can bet on that. Last time she went to confession, you think?

Does the church still do excommunications. Can’t think of a better situation.

Sorry, Nancy. The hospital reports to a higher power than you, Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, you don't believe there's a power higher than you.

The Cardinals and Bishops here in the US are too busy playing politics, They are afraid of being locked out on other issues if they force Catholic politicians to be Catholic.

They should have excommunicated her Biden and Sebelius years ago.The Faith is not for playing politics and the higher ups of all people should know that.

Someone should have the balls to tell her , when you die you had better get someone else to bury you and your body will not rest in Sacred Ground.

Unfortunately like the Kennedy Family —Hedonists and in Ted’s case a murderer, there will be Bishops and Cardinals lined up to put her in the ground.

Yes they do. But the last case I can think of was back in the 70’s? when a Cardinal refused to comply with Vatican II doctrines. I believe he has long since changed his mind.

Pelosi is much smarter than we are. She knows what is best for all of us. Progressives are busy bodies. Just like Bloomberg in NYC. We need people like her to tell us what to do. Can you imagine a religion, which supposedly she is a member would be prolife and she knows better. Evil woman !!

Pelosi already knows she is going to burn in hell, so she just piles on. What surprises me is the Church never seems willing to do anything about this sorry excuse for a human being.

When will the Catholic Church start excommunicating members who thumb their noses at Church beliefs? I’m not Catholic but I’d respect them more if they took severe measures with people who flout Church dogma.

“. . .Secretary Kathleen Sebelius—who, like Pelosi, is Catholic”

OK, journalists, here’s how you use your power and stay out of Hell with the same action:

“. . .Secretary Kathleen Sebelius—who, like Pelosi, CALLS HERSELF Catholic”

Canon 915: Those who have been excommunicated or interdicted after the imposition or the declaration of a penalty as well as others who obstinately persist in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to communion.

“...there’s a question about whether this canon’’ – the relevant church law – “was ever intended to be used’’ to bring politicians to heel. He thinks not. “I stand with the great majority of American bishops and bishops around the world in saying this canon [Canon 915] was never intended to be used this way.’’ — from the thread [Archbishop] Wuerl: Why I Won’t Deny Pelosi Communion http://www.canonlaw.info/2009/03/abps-wuerl-c-916-burke-cc-915-916-on.html

Albany Bishop Howard Hubbard says it is “unfair and imprudent” to conclude that Gov. Andrew Cuomo and his girlfriend, Sandra Lee, shouldn’t receive Communion simply because they’re living together. — from the thread Bishop: None of your business (Hubbard rejects Catholic expert’s criticism of Gov. Cuomo)

[Archbishop Timothy Dolan] also does not outright deny the sacrament to dissenting Catholic lawmakers, but he is seen as an outspoken defender of church orthodoxy in a style favored by many theological conservatives.

They shouldn’t not only be denied Communion, they should be denied ever Sacrament including Extreme Unction.

It isn’t use to bring them to heel.It is used to rid the Church of their presence. It is not a bluff it is an acknowledgement that this person is no longer Catholic.Bring them to heel-— hell, it’s to toss them out of the Community of the Church.
