Does the church still do excommunications. Can’t think of a better situation.
The Cardinals and Bishops here in the US are too busy playing politics, They are afraid of being locked out on other issues if they force Catholic politicians to be Catholic.
They should have excommunicated her Biden and Sebelius years ago.The Faith is not for playing politics and the higher ups of all people should know that.
Someone should have the balls to tell her , when you die you had better get someone else to bury you and your body will not rest in Sacred Ground.
Unfortunately like the Kennedy Family —Hedonists and in Ted’s case a murderer, there will be Bishops and Cardinals lined up to put her in the ground.
Yes they do. But the last case I can think of was back in the 70’s? when a Cardinal refused to comply with Vatican II doctrines. I believe he has long since changed his mind.
Canon 915: Those who have been excommunicated or interdicted after the imposition or the declaration of a penalty as well as others who obstinately persist in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to communion.
“...there’s a question about whether this canon’’ the relevant church law “was ever intended to be used’’ to bring politicians to heel. He thinks not. “I stand with the great majority of American bishops and bishops around the world in saying this canon [Canon 915] was never intended to be used this way.’’ — from the thread [Archbishop] Wuerl: Why I Won’t Deny Pelosi Communion http://www.canonlaw.info/2009/03/abps-wuerl-c-916-burke-cc-915-916-on.html
Albany Bishop Howard Hubbard says it is “unfair and imprudent” to conclude that Gov. Andrew Cuomo and his girlfriend, Sandra Lee, shouldn’t receive Communion simply because they’re living together. — from the thread Bishop: None of your business (Hubbard rejects Catholic expert’s criticism of Gov. Cuomo)
[Archbishop Timothy Dolan] also does not outright deny the sacrament to dissenting Catholic lawmakers, but he is seen as an outspoken defender of church orthodoxy in a style favored by many theological conservatives.
