Third major storm moving into Northern California
JOHN S. MARSHALL, Associated Press, By JOHN S. MARSHALL and TERRY COLLINS, Associated Press
Updated 1:20 p.m., Saturday, December 1, 2012

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Another major storm moving into Northern California was expected to bring more pouring rain, flooding and additional problems to an area already soaked after two major storms, forecasters said Saturday.

Residents of Northern California enjoyed just a bit of a respite Saturday, but the next storm — the third in a string of powerful weather systems to hit the region since Wednesday — is expected to force at least two rivers over their banks, said National Weather Service hydrologist Mark Strudley.

Stay safe out there, CA Freepers!

Also, feel free to send some of that rain to Virginia-—we haven’t had any in months.

“Sure wish some of it would come to Texas.”

Georgia could use some, too.

C.O. is this storm affecting your area? Hope not for your hill’s sake. Looks like both coasts are getting pummeled this year. The middle will get it in the spring as usual. Prayers for your safety.

This might be the storm system that collapses the entire dike system of CA. I think it was the history channel that ran a disaster show about the vulnerability of the whole basin.

Hey don’t forget about us down here in Southern California!!

We are getting the tail ends of your “big storms,” not heavy rain, but constant and relentless. Just heard some of the beaches are closed in the area so idiots with boards don’t get pummeled against the shore (or rocks!!).

We LOVE this weather (what gardener wouldn’t) — after months of relentless heat and dry winds. My roses, lawn and hibiscus look fantastic!! Keep it coming!! (and stay safe!! — I have a daughter at Berkeley and loved ones in Pacific Grove and Marin).

We’re going to get a hit, but we’re on the southern edge of the main body of the storm. I’ve got a co7uple of 5-10 minute jobs to do, but the rest of my attention is on the neighborhood. Most people don’t do diddly to deal with drainage and most of what they do is badly conceived.

Well, I will pray that the southern edge goes a bit further north and spares you.

Oh puuuuhleeeze!!!

Lordy, you would think we were being hit by hurricanes and tornadoes. We have had some heavy rain. We have had some gusty winds. Is it a pleasant rain? Nope. Is it needed rain? Yes. Will there be floods? Sure in some areas. Goodness folks this is a typical California winter. Get over it it aint that bad. We get hit with La Nina type storming about every 11 years....it is driven by ocean temperature changes and sun spots. Has been going for a very very very long time.

Reality check time. Capt Hyperbol is working that title. Yes a 1861 event would be catastrophic (46 consecutive days of heavy rain) - but this isn't the event. It has been wet, but not even near the '96-97 pineapple express. It is a stronger series than what we've had in a while.
