I know ammo is getting more expensive and harder to get but she really does need a little more time at the range. Still, one out of two isn’t bad.

I love a happy ending. A great ending would’ve been two for two. But then the optimist in me hopes maybe the survivor will rethink his life of crime and change his ways. Maybe she could change his life, rather than end it. If not, I hope he runs into someone just like her, just as prepared as she was.

He was such a good boy. He and his buddy were only going to rape and murder the girl. The only reason he is dead is because of racism.

Good job, but she needs more range time. That way she’ll learn to shoot them, not shoot “at” them.

Are authorities on their way to Lancaster, PA to find the hoodlum who got away?

“The father is proud of his daughters actions. “

Yeah, he was only sorry that she didn’t get both of them. Good parenting!

In a similar situation under similar stress I would hope to do half as well. Range time cannot prepare you for the adrenaline surge total terror your life is on the line situation this woman faced. There is no way to practice for that. It’s hard to hit a target when you are breathing 40 times a minute with hands violently shaking. I say good for her!!!

Love this line from the local NBC DFW station:

He said he will now teach his daughter how to forgive herself for taking a life. "I really don't have a problem with what my baby done to them," he said. "I just hate that she hesitated and didn't get them both."

Your words are true. It’s estimated that accuracy deteriorates about 50% in a real life crisis. Putting it in bowling terms, it’s unfortunate she didn’t “pick up the spare.”

Good job, but she needs more range time.

Being able to shoot a stationary target is not the same as being able to hit a moving and dodging target under stress.

As a trainer for military police including prison response teams, I cant disagree with you more. There is a thing called muscle memory. During times of stress is is common to loose fine motor control - true. But time on the range practicing drawing, firing, clearing failures, etc does help. And a LOT of time helps a LOT. Train with stress inducing activities, and it can help a lot more.

The woman did great.

But if you could prevent your door from suddenly flying open for just 100 dollars or so, would you do it?

I did. I have a “security screen door” on all doors. It cost me about 160 (60 or so for the deadlock/door knob required) bucks a door to do it.

Will they hold off a determined or clever attacker? No. But I never have to worry about my front door suddenly flying open.

They’re simply there to buy time as a barrier. While the idiot home invader is making noise trying to get through the security door I have time to prepare myself for the actual door to fly open.

http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-203484970/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&keyword=security+door&storeId=10051&superSkuId=202933684

I’m just using the Home Depot site because it’s convenient to show the different options. Not as an edorsement.

That’s the exact one I bought. It is much stronger and better built than you would think for 117 bucks. They have many different designs, and from the road mine don’t look like security doors but just like ordinary ornamental screen doors.

Correctamundo. We knew it as train like you fight and fight like you train. The dude in the funny hat could make sound sleep a ‘stress fire’ situation. Thank you Gunny Moss-where ever you are.
