PA president vows to pursue efforts to end the split between Gaza, West Bank, dedicates UN "victory" to late PA president Arafat.
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas Sunday vowed to pursue efforts to end the split between the West Bank and Gaza and thanked Hamas and all Palestinian groups for supporting his statehood bid at the UN.
Abbas, who was speaking to thousands of supporters in Ramallah during a rally organized by the PA to celebrate the UN General Assembly's vote in favor of upgrading the status of the Palestinians to non-member observer state, said he would focus his efforts now on "restoring unity of the Palestinians and their lands and institutions."
The crowd, which consisted mostly of PA civil servants and Fatah activists, responded by chanting, "We want national unity!" and "With blood and soul, we redeem Abu Mazen [Abbas]."
In the coming days, Abbas said, "We will study accelerating moves to achieve reconciliation [with Hamas]."
Abbas hailed the outcome of the UN vote as an "historic achievement," adding that November 29 has become a "decisive turning point in our national struggle."

The Antichrist will come along and confirm a seven-year covenant of 'peace' which you will hail, too.
Then the False Prophet will require the world to take 666 to buy and sell, damning many souls forever.
I don't know what the timetable is folks, but this seems a teensy step towards the conclusion of this thing.
With a State comes responsibility, I would not want to be responsible for shelling civilians in their homes like Abbas is guilty of.
Just think, now a rocket fired from Gaza is no longer an act of a “freedom fighter” but an act of War.
Stupid Muslims, had it made in the shade as an “occupied people”. Now, they have to act like adults, or suffer the consequences.
Now that they are a “state”...the next rocket attack from the pals and Israel can declare war on Palestine.
I don’t disagree, but to put a precise link on it —— did they include Gaza in this?
I must admit I didn’t see that specifically but I wasn’t looking for it -— was only thinking of the West Bank.
I mean I know they want “contiguous” and all that.
TIA for any info.
While technically true, rockets fired in the same manner as before the Palestinians “achieved statehood” will never be considered acts of war except by Israel and US conservatives - most of whom already do so. It’ll be a distinction without a different for that reason.
Israel-Provides 125 MW to the Gaza Strip based on 10 electricity lines (12.5 MW each line). Total constitutes is 62% of the electricity supplied in the Gaza Strip.
Good, now Israel can protect itself from acts of war, blow up your capitol, armories, power and communications utilities, and conquer your military.
Then as a further measure of protection, they can annex your territory.
Abbas is a “state” like I’m the King of Prussia
(it is amazing how delusional these murderous thugs are...)
Hussein told us in 2011 that a return to the 1967 border was his goal ?
Neato. I guess this means if I shove a rainbow flagpole up my ass, I can get the UN to declare me Fudgepackervania.
Hessein received the Nobel Peace Prize for “future middle east peace” among other things. Whether he can “achieve” that remains to be seen but of note ....
I don’t think the AC is a sitting US Prez because of the Scripture - but fwiw, lot of odd stuff surrounding this guy. Weird - just follow the links. I can’t link directly to the lottery results so you have to select 2008. Just odd stuff.
Abbas was the first foreign leader Obama called from the WH after taking office - for a Pali state, dividing Israel.

Illinois lottery hit 666 the exact same day CNN called Obama, the junior senator from Illinois, president of the world. Bizarre coincidences.

A little take-off on the old you say potato, I say potato verse.
You say state, and I say s-hole, never the twain shall meet.
The Arabs on the West Bank and Gaza are a real hoot. They act this way as if their plight is going to increase one iota under their draconian leadership.
They can reference the areas they inhabit as an interstellar worm-hole for all I care. It’s still going to remain a pit, until they change their personal world view and start acting like civilized people on the global stage.
Finally, something to declare war on. /s
What Abbas has is a piece of paper, not a State.A piece of paper from the UN,for what it’s worth.
“What Abbas has is a piece of paper, not a State.A piece of paper from the UN,for what its worth.”
Precious, PRECIOUS piece of paper, for with statehood comes responsibilities.
That UN “Statehood” paper is really a Palisimian Hunting License - with no season, bag limit, or minimum. It is also a Hunting License of all Muslims who participate in or aid the Palsimians in their attacks on Israel.
Que up: “A hunting we shall go, a hunting we shall go, ....”
Least, that's how I understood it back when I lived there. Perhaps they came up with some convoluted reasoning that says its OK to kill civilians with military rockets, as long as they are not Muslims and are Jews.
Or a stationary target.
Like I said in my original post: The distinction is definitely true but there will not be a functional difference.
If the palestinians keep raining down rockets and bombs, logic would dictate the UN / world opinion call it an act of war and respond accordingly / encourage Israel to respond accordingly.
The world will not suddenly jump to Israel’s side of the argument. They will ignore that portion of “statehood” and continue to blame the Israelis for being aggressive.
what is interesting is that Hamas and Gaza may break off and be absorbed by Egypt. That would be a good outcome
