Inhofe: Some Dems wont fall on the sword of Obama to defend EPA rules
By Ben Geman - 12/02/12 02:47 PM ET
Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) believes all is not lost in his push to thwart Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations despite President Obamas victory and Democrats continued control of the Senate.
Inhofe, one of Capitol Hills most persistent critics of EPA regulations on carbon dioxide and other pollutants, said in an interview broadcast Sunday that new political opportunities await EPA foes.
There are a lot of Democrats who are coming up for re-election in 2014 who are not going to want to fall on the sword of Obama on this overregulation once the people at home know what it is costing them, he said on Platts Energy Week TV.
Inhofe said weve got a rough two years ahead, but added that he will continue trying to turn back EPA rules, including with Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolutions.
The mid-1990s law, which was part of then-Speaker Newt Gingrichs (R-Ga.) Contract with America, gives Congress an opening to overturn federal agency regulations. Resolutions under the act are immune from Senate filibuster.
However, it has been used successfully just once, and new efforts would face big Senate obstacles (not to mention likely veto threats).
Recent attempts to use the CRA to target EPA rules have fallen short in the Senate. Sen. Rand Pauls (R-Ky.) attempt to turn back rules on smog and particulate-forming pollution from power plants stalled in late 2011.
Inhofes separate measure to block rules on power plant emissions of mercury and other toxics fell short in June.
But new battles await. The courts may force EPA to rewrite the Cross-State Air Pollution Rule that Paul tried to thwart, while EPA has yet to finalize carbon emissions standards for new power plants and other rules in the offing.
Inhofe is the ranking Republican on the Environment and Public Works Committee but must leave that post in the next Congress.
He will remain on the committee and says his focus wont change.
I will continue to do the things that I have been doing actively on the committee, most having to do with overregulation and energy, he said.
Inhofe and other critics of EPA rules allege they will hurt the economy by making coal less viable as a power source, forcing closure of plants and mines and costing jobs.
But EPA defenders say the coal-fired power industrys woes dont stem from EPA rules, and instead point to the natural gas production boom that has driven down costs for the fuel source that competes with coal.
Commiecare covers all those.
In the obozo regime those who do not fall on the sword will be put to the sword.
Inhofe also knows that many of Obama's hordes won't show up at the polls after another two years of the consequences of his attack on the economy via the EPA and other means.
Sure they will.
The GOP is miscalculating wildly and has for some time now. And we are, and will, suffer as a result.
Yeah...not convinced. The dimocrat parasites aren’t going to give up the gravy train easily. hussein will continue to campaign from now to the 2014 mid-terms. The mindless, dimocrat drones will follow the orders of their master.
The dimocites are relentless. These taker-subhumans will only stop when they no longer exist.
Roger that, but I think that a few should be kept alive in some kind of zoo, just to remind.
Arizona is sending a couple of new moronic ‘RAT bimbos and a new ‘RAT girlyman to Barry’s rescue in the House. One of the bimbos proudly proclaims that she’s a Socialist. The other is an old ObamaCare rubber stamp retread that we booted back in 2010 but she managed to rope a bunch of “Arizona cowboys” back over to her side with her Brokeback Mountain cowboy “campaign ad” showing some Brokeback Mountain cowboys squatting around a campfire, drinking latte’ and badmouthing her Republican veteran opponent. Pretty disgusting. Sorry guys.
>> “on carbon dioxide and other pollutants” <<
Anyone that calls the most important chemical compound in the life cycle a pollutant should be willing to give up their life for the betterment of all.
Many Obama voters work one day a year — election day. They show up, cast their ballot, and wait for more free stuff.
No way they won’t show up and risk the gravy train slowing down even a little bit.
The country is lost. Only chance is for a complete economic collapse and reboot, but to be honest, I’m not so sure I like our chances even then.

Please explain how CO2 has anything to do with “global warming”?
I believe that Begich AK, Pryor AR, Landrieu LA, Hagan NC, Johnson SD and Warner VA can be convinced of doing the right thing concerning the EPA and or be defeated.
Harkin, Lautenberg, and Rockefeller need to seriously consider retiring or be retired.
The Udall’s of NM and Co should be targeted for defeat as well.
In the obozo regime those who do not fall on the sword will be put to the sword.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
POSHITUS will more than likely be putting all of his enemies to the sword, using the IRS, “accidents,” TSA,FEMA and Homeland Security, with drone surveillance in aid.
Such are the wages of the Obama fascist movement:
Obama and his movement are one serious anti-constitutional fother mucker.
Surely you know that you are asking the wrong dude on this.
