Columnist Who Inspired Bob Costas Drops New Bomb: 'The NRA Is the New KKK'

Kansas City sportswriter Jason Whitlock loves to stoke controversy. So after he blamed Jovan Belcher's murder-suicide on the "gun culture" -- inspiring NBC Sports lecturer Bob Costas -- in an interview with Roland Martin, he added fuel to the fire by claiming "the NRA is the new KKK."

Apparently, black youths are "armed" by the NRA, and they're also responsible for loading up black neighborhoods with drugs:

Didn’t such a stupid comment end howard kosel’s career?

Are you thinking of Jimmy-the-Greek?

This further cements my opinion that most sportswriters are brain dead.

These hypocrites don’t mind publicly funded stadiums to support their livelihood, knowing full well football shortens the life of the players and has the risk of possible death just to entertain people and insure the NFL sportscasters make their overpaid salaries.

Little Jason should read up on Robert Williams and the ‘Deacons of Defense” and why they started. He knows nothing of history.

Rihanna was beaten to a pulp by Chris Brown. He did not use his gun. She lives. Not everyone uses a gun.

I wonder if Alec Baldwin had a gun when he was face-smashing Kim Bassinger? Not everyone uses a gun. Rihanna still loves her assailant. Ms. Bassinger apparently saw the light and tried to get even with Alec.

Interpersonal relationships!!

I wonder if Ms.Kasandra Perkins would be alive if she had possessed a firearm. It is an imponderable, we will never know. But if Javon Belcher was looking down the barrel of a 38 I wonder if he would have paused? He was obviously mentally ill to have become a murder, then commit suicide within a few hours of each other. I wonder if Mental Illness had anything to do with it?

Yeah, they are definitely the back-of-the-bus or the splinter-collectors in the world of "journalism." (You will note that I didn't call it a profession...) Most seem to be pro-sport wannabes that couldn't even make a decent high school team (with some exceptions, obviously). Just exposes the total lack of functional education required by a communications or journalism degree, for anyone who cares.

This moron has not bothered to do one minute of research before making such a ridiculously insane and historically inaccurate statement (not that this will matter to the sheeple who lap this up).

The NRA was one of the first groups to integrate and openly welcomed black members. The NRA was a klan nemesis for daring to open its doors to black members and to suggest that black Americans had a right to self defense as enumerated in the constitution. It is much more difficult to victimize people when they are armed and prepared to defend themselves.

I believe he (whitlock) also suggested that the NRA funneled drugs into the black community(?) He seems to be the one on drugs with these ridiculous statements.

So you’re saying you agree with Whitlock and Costas? Some people will go to any lengths to bash the NRA.

No, I'm not saying anything of the kind. What I said is that the NRA has recently taken some positions that call into question the direction it is taking. It no longer seems to be a conservative, Second Amendment rights supporting organization as it once was but, instead, seems to be shifting to the left.

Given that, based on a couple of artcles I have seen posted here on FR, it calls into question whether or not they COULD be the new KKK.

If you're going to misread my posts, then, at LEAST, take note of the weasal words I used like "dubious" and "could".

Back up your position with some factual evidence. I could make any claim against any organization, but if there is no factual evidence to back up my claims, they are meaningless. What positions are you referring to? - again, factual evidence please. What articles, and who were they written by? You must do better than just throw out innuendo when you make the claim that the NRA COULD be the new KKK. Back it up, or don't make the claim.

Kosel got into trouble for referring to a player as a little monkey. Jimmy the Greek referred to “breeding” to make blacks bigger and stronger.

If this is true, then I am now a proud member of the KKK.
