NBC's Todd Cites 'Very Smart' WH Aide Claiming With Today's GOP 'There'd Still Be Slavery'

Appearing on Monday's MSNBC Morning Joe, NBC chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd shared some inside information: "So I threw the Lincoln analogy at a close aide to the President last week, and he said, 'You know, with this Republican – with the way politics of Washington are today, there'd still be slavery.' That Lincoln wouldn't have been able to navigate the polarization..."

Rather than dismiss such a nasty partisan attack, Todd observed: "It was an interesting and depressing observation from this very smart White House aide."

I’m sometimes asked, as a Civil War buff, to explain my attraction to the period. I usually reply with a line I heard years ago, “That’s the last time it was legal to shoot democrats.

That sort of comment won't endear you to the Lost Cause contingent here at FreeRepublic....lol

Democrats have figured out how to take people who were liberated from the old plantations, and coax them onto the new plantation. It’s sad to watch people who had what it took to overcome the legacy of slavery create a worse legacy of welfareism. Their liberty has been given up cheaply.

In Jan 1863, Abraham Lincoln started freeing the slaves.

In Jan 1933, Franklin Roosevelt started buying them back.

I long for the day when justice will be served to those like Todd who intentionally bear false witness against his neighbors. Chuck Todd, and the corrupt MSM are full of themselves and believe there are no consequences to falsely besmirching and accusing others.

How I long for justice. One day, justice will roll like a river.

I hate to say it but the WH Aide is right, though maybe not as he intended. Given how absolutely neutered and ineffective the current GOP has been the Democrats would have held on to slavery for decades...

Shrug of the shoulder. These media sorts are the same that claim Hillary as the smartest woman in the World.

Idiots!

There are no “very smart” white house aides. Therefore, this is created BS.

“It’s sad to watch people who had what it took to overcome the legacy of slavery create a worse legacy of welfareism. Their liberty has been given up cheaply.”

Pose this philosophical question: “Would you rather have freedom or happiness?” Choose one or the other. Most here would immediately choose the former.

I didn’t really understand the complaint of some that “`utilitarianism’ is a doctrine worthy of swine” until recently.

“First, a tight p***y; second, loose shoes; and third, a warm place to s***.”
From the wit and wisdom of former secretary Earl Butts

Once those EBT cards stop working and people stop accepting the vouchers, etc., there’s gonna be hell to pay.

With today’s democrat party, slavery was re-instituted. The Federal gov’t now owns all of our physical bodies and they are screaming that our labor is theirs and they will “let” us keep the fruits of that labor if they deem that we do not need it.

We are truly in bizarro world.

FDR started social programs to lure black voters to the Dem party.

In fact it was mostly blacks with a few white supporters who started the Republican party.
