RE:"Obama has been playing three moves ahead on the chess board" -
Obama is not that smart.

It's not all Obama we are engaged with. It is the liberal arm of the democrat party and the media and YES they are that smart. The throw out a diversionary issue for the empty heads on TV to talk about for a month and they are meanwhile busy working on an implementation plan that is something else altogether.

‘Obama should take this deal because it is a complete capitulation. Tax us $800 billion first, cut $1.4 trillion never.’
Since the Republicans flopped at $800 billion in tax increases, Mr. Obama should be able to squeeze out another $500 in tax increases with no trouble.
And you are correct, the Phantom Spending Cuts of the Future will never come. The same Socialist Rope a Dope Game Plan and the Republicans will lose what little credibility and base that they have left.

Exactly. I use obama to represent the leftists in power. Strategy-wise, they are cleaning the GOP’s clock.

Someone yesterday had the idea that I thought was good. Let the Dems have what ever they want, just stand back and vote present. That way when it all goes south, the GOP fingerprints are nowhere on any of the bills.

When you hold the majority in the House and vote "Present," you are voting FOR the Dems plan. And you have more than your fingerprints on it. You own it. This is a dumb idea, but what else can you expect from the Stupid Party.

If the Reps should do such a stupid thing, then it will be the end of the GOP. We need a third party to stand on principle. Why elect Reps to be in charge of the House when they surrender to the Dems who are in the minority?

You definitely haven’t written anything to persuade that you’re not a post-2009 groupie. You were probably a rabid Romney supporter during the primaries.

If you said you were worried about 20 million working age people not working I'd say "you got your finger on the unemployment problem" ~ the whole 47% thing was based on the thesis that there are a lot of people who'd prefer lolling around to being employed.

The presumption is that being poor is somehow desirable ~ yet, most of us have been poor at one time or the other and we all prefer rich, or if not rich, not poor!

As usual people imagine OTHERS are not motivated by the same things as they themselves are motivated by. That, BTW, is the biggest single reason for losing an election ~ failure to comprehend what people really want!

If you want to be a democratically elected leader you must find out what the people want, then follow them ~ and once you get there ~ counsel them to do even better.

I can’t say exactly.

I heard him say that on Hannity’s program last week sometime during an interview between himself, Sean and Victoria Tensing if I recall correctly.

He asked North what he thought of the ongoing so-called fiscal cliff negotioans and the republicans’ progress or lack thereof in them, and North answered I think the GOP is about to cease to exist.

I cannot disagree. If they stand for nothing, accomplish nothing and merely advance the democrat agenda while at tyhe same time providing the democrats with a foil to deflect blame from themselves, then why should I as a citizen concern myself with voting for them, supporting them financially, or hoping for republican majorities anywhere at all, because they simply make no difference and have no bearing on anything whatsoever?

As far as I can see this is the last chance for the GOP and they are doomed no matter what they do, so they may as well do the right thing and hope people support them as a result of that, because doing the usual cave in for reductions in rates of growth over X number of years is meaningless, and everyone knows it including them.

FYI to ALL:

These are all 10 year plans!

The whole debate is a joke. Whether the debt is "reduced" by $1.6 T or $2.2 T, it is over a 10 year period, meaning NOTHING will be done because the American Attention Span doesn't last more than a few weeks! The bigger issue here is the increase in the Debt Ceiling and on that measure, I say to Speaker Boehner - DON'T RAISE THE DEBT CEILING!

Not trying to cause any harm, but anyone who is cheering on the GOP to capitulate 2 years before an election, should just stop commenting all together. There are already going to be plenty of squishes all over the GOP media who get paid while cheering on the GOP to do everything they can to appear electable while becoming completely unelectable sellouts. What Boehner just put forth is the best case scenario, the final deal will be worse than this and the GOP really is about to be an extinct party.

“counteroffer”??
Don’t you first have to have a serious “offer” to “counter”?

Hmmm...I never said anything utilizing that phony 47% figure. I said “half,” as a rhetorical device representing “a whole heckuva lot.”

People expect me to be so literal.

My point was more towards lobbyists bribing both sides of the aisle almost equally. THAT was my important point.

It will suck but the blame will go with the plan, which will be his.

No it won't. When you have a statistic coming out that a majority of voters STILL blame Bush for the economy, the blame will once again go to the GOP. It is very sad that we have so many Ill-Informed Voters in this country.

People who can't understand the advanced play strategy need to look at how they took Roe v. Wade from legal abortions to teenagers having fetus murder arranged at school without parental notification.

Or, bilingual ed creating a generation of latino students who were matriculated through school without learning enough English to become upwardly mobile Americans.

Then there's the more recent examples of gay rights progressing to gay marriage and already to the discussions of multiple legal parents in California.

...marijuana has gone from medical prescriptions to legal possession in WA and OR. That one I kind of like because possession and sales is still a Federal crime and this is a states rights issue that will maybe go to the Supremes. If they find for the states, then conservative activists have an open door on many issues where the feds have overstepped authority.

WALK AWAY!

There is a big problem with this strategy. If the republcians walk away, Obama gets:

1: a huge tax increase on rich, poor and middle class (more money to spend

2: Huge defense cuts

3: no entitlement cuts

4: the ability to blame republicans for any damage because they wouldn't make a deal.

Republicans backed themselves into this, and can't just walk away.

Don’t forget to divide all those numbers by 10 as is always the case when congress talks numbers. It is over a ten year period. So even if these numbers were obtained, which won’t happen. Well we only have a 200 billion cut per year on a 1.2(or more) yearly deficit. Not exactly going to save the day. For that and other reasons This whole thing is a fraud.

It’s pretty sorry when the GOP’s opening bid is less than 2-to-1 spending cuts to tax increase, chipping only 20% off the $1 trillion-plus annual deficit.

I agree. Give him everything he wants except control of the debt ceiling. Make him and the rats own it ALL. Let them take the blame in the aftermath of the fallout of yet another failed economic policy. I want to see every Obama voter suffer the consequences of their votes. It’s called revenge.

if any of you can follow exactly what House Rs offered please ping me with it.

smoke and mirrors ??? kabuki ??? handicap cage match, with mr mcmahon as the guest referee ???

oh you meant something more tangible than...

Republican officials said their 10-year plan contained more deficit reduction than the offer the White House presented last week while standing firm against Obama’s demand to increase tax rates on the wealthy.

another soviet '10 yr plan to fix the last 100 yrs worth of 10 yr plans...

the 'R' offer seems to be handing bambam another weapon to beat themselves sensless...
